The 6ft 7in 400 + pound monster of a fighter Zulu (Real name is Wagner da Conceicao Martins) brought his 3-3 MMA record into the ring against the much smaller Minowa. Ikuhisa Minowa is only 180lbs but is a very experienced fighter who has compiled a record of 37-25.

minowa should have just fought straight on instead of running, he gave up his back numerous times, half guard. look at fedor vs hong man choi, perfect execution vs a huge guy.
It is indeed a freak show, but i wouldn’t say they are just “bringing in retards,” as Zulu as something of a pedigree, and at any rate has been doing the freak show fight thing for a while now (he even fought Fedor). Minowa, of course, is no retard, though he does seem to do a lot of dumb matches nowadays. And finally, it’s a foreign promotion. If they want freak fights, let them have freak fights. How does it hurt MMA? How can you “hurt” “MMA”?

What exactly was Minowa’s strategy here? Running around until Zulu tired himself out? In which case, why not just challenge him to a marathon? I thought the Japanese are supposed to be proud, courageous warriors. Minowa just looked ridiculous here.
Honestly — stop the hate for Minowa. What you have to realize in Japan is that they get so much respect even for a loss if they put on a good show. Minowa clearly took this fight knowing he would probably lose and then still fought very well. He was looking for an opening and never found one. Zulu is a much sturdier opponent than Hong and weighs much more. Fedor is a much larger fighter than Minowa. We’re looking at over a 200 lbs differential, which is insane! Try wrestling someone who is 50 lbs heavier then talk. Probs to Minowa, he slammed a guy who was over double his weight. Wow.
Couse its a freak show, look at his fight V butterbean and fedor, he done 0,nought,nothing, squat.
Matt, you’re missing the point here. If Minowa is in over his head (which he was), you don’t take the fight. If you take the fight, you go in expecting or at least trying to win. Explain to me how literally running away for several minutes is either trying to win or looking for opening?
Getting thrown in against a much larger man is not an excuse for fighting cowardly. If Minowa is too proud to fight a guy of this size, then he should fight him and not run away. If he’s not, why agree to the fight at all? This is pure silliness.
I’m also not sure how Zulu can feel good about himself winning this fight. Good for you, you squashed a guy you outweigh by 200 lbs and who has lost 25 fights. Well done!
i know that was his strategy, but i hated that minowa was running around. it made the fight boring.
That was too funny, what a beast, running around like a fool didn’t do much, like to see him go up against Bob Sapp.
This is the worst fight that i ever watched in my entire life. Minowa should kill himself, he doesn’t deserve to fight again. What a joke, where was the fighting spirit in this fight ?
wtf is this. this fight is wrong on so many levels. what kind of organization puts a 180 pound guy vs a 400 plus pound guy. the japanese always throw these fucked up mis matched fights because the japanese crowd really likes this kind of shit. like the other guys said there more or less freak shows, neither guys demonstrated any mma skills, it was just a match of how long he could survive. the match makers over their make matches like this to put on a show(like wrestling) for their fans rather than to find two fighters at the same weight class that match up well against each other (like joe silva does) they should make 100 pound weight difrences illegal in fights for the fighters safety
Minowa accepted the fight. He could have easily said “no give me some one else” but he didn’t. Honestly, remember “the giant killer”, a 200 pound guy who beat a 600 pound guy, Keith Hackney. For all you guys who think the weight difference is so crazy look him up.
