When I was in college there was this wrestler who was missing one of his legs at the knee. He was in a different class so we never met. I’m sure there are disadvantages but it was clear that he had some advantage as well. For one, you couldn’t get a single because he’d lead with the short one and just pull that nub out anytime you grabbed the leg. Also, he had the upper body frame of a 150 pounder at 118.

In highschool one of my teammates got stuck by a blind kid. The guy was pretty good but our friend caught a lot of s***.

Another advantage is that he can use his pointy stump to ream out his opponent with when he takes his back while doing ground and pound whereas a gloved fist would be too big to fit!

I would never fight someone like that in my weight class. The advantage is that he gets to train with people that have two full arms while everyone can’t train with someone missing an arm. Guys like this should only fight other handy capped fighters. I’d turn the fight down any day.

Damn I have alot of respect for that guy.Never has excuses.He even finds ways to see his arm as an advantage.I don’t want to sound like an asshole but I don’t think there’s really any advantage to having only 1 hand and forearm.Yes it can akward to train for but it’s not really an adavnage.Nick just has so much heart he got good by modifying some moves to adapt with his arm.Having less range and only 1 hand can’t be an advantage.But that guy is so metally powerfull he won’t even say it’s a disadvantage.That puts alot of fighters to shame when they have excuses why they didn’t win and that guy has only 1 arm and never uses excuses.

Alot of respect for Mr.Newell and I hope he goes far in MMA.
