I’m a Rampage fan but for certain I thought Wanderlei was going to win this one. I thought Dana wanted phase out Rampage and threw Wandy out there to finish off his career.

I was rooting for Silva, but Rampage came out really calm and had superior boxing. He threw punches down the pipe and Silva’s wild punches were easy to counter. Shame about Silva, I think he’s one of the true greats, but considering the stacked division and vicious knockouts he’s suffered, might be time to hang it up so he can enjoy his legacy.

Did anyone else think that the last two, but DEFINITELY 1 punch that Rampage delivered was cheap? I mean the first one was acceptable, because the ref just put his hands around him, the second one happens, but the ref had been holding him for a good 5 seconds when he then delivered the third.

Well I’m a huge Wandy fan, I was definitely optimistic that Wandy got his mojo back after the Jardine fight, safe to say I was wrong.
It breaks my heart but Wandy needs to retire while he’s healthy. He came into the fight in great shape, but 3 lights out ko’s in his past 5 fights says it’s over.
Wandy can still compete and lay out lesser fighters, but he can’t compete with upper echelon fighters anymore.
I really hope he walks away, and calls it a hall of fame career. Many huge wars with many great fighters, a Vale Tudo Champ at 21 years old, and of course the Pride Championship.
Walk away with your head held high man, and be a mentor to some young gun that can do something in the sport.

I know that I wasn’t the only one who felt a little sadness when Silva hit the deck stone cold because his comeback looked like it might actually start to happen, I really do think fighting in the octagon’s way different from fighting in the ring and many fighters who are used to the ring just can’t seem to adjust to it.

About the punches after Wandy was out: If you at the replay angle you can see clearly that Rampage didn’t really hit Wandy, his gloves hardly touched his face and the arm was completely stretched. This was a completely controled show of Rampage.

Silva ha always won by overwhelming other fighters with shear aggression. I called this because the fighters at the top are smart fighters. Rampage has grown up since the Pride days into a smart fighter and Silva hasn’t, which is why he has lost most of his recent fights.

If you watch closely Rampage only landed one shot after the ref touched him (he almost hit a second but slowed his hand and stopped).
The ref wasn’t holding Rampage for “a good 5 seconds” like someone said; at 3:43 the shot that knocked Wanderlei out landed and BY 3:46 Rampage was already off of him and walking away. Just because a fighter that you like lost doesn’t mean you need to try to discredit another fighters legitimate achievement with slander; it’s childish and just plain lame.
Rampage won, i didn’t think he would but kudos to him, he did great a great job. Now deal with it.

like i said before, it starts with BOXING !!!! boxing is the foundation of fighting. you can know all jujitsu want, if you dont have a proper boxing foundation eventually you will fall in mma. all rampage did was a typical slip and counter punch, almost the said punch he hit chuck with.

I think that I am the only one that noticed (or commented) that Wanderlei was fighting smart and he did have the upper hand until rampage threw one of the most well placed punches of his career. Fuck!! As you can see I commented before about how I was concerned about wanderlei just trying to box with rampage..I knew it could easily go wrong. The sport is evolving fast and Wanderlei should become a coach like many people have said. He is one of the greatest of all time but he has already reached his peak and now he is falling of his mountain (or getting knocked off). Getting off the juice is real thing as well, the pride fighters all did roids..
