He was going to lose anyway, but him throwing off his gi was what got him knocked down. He didn’t get his hands up fast enough and Wanderlei moved in for the kill. What a dumb move.

how i miss the old wanderlei, the stare down, the aggressive pounce, he’s such a pitbull, almost always finishes fights…love it! way to make the guy pay for trying to make a statement (”let me throw off my gi, i’m ready to fight”)…yeah, right…

Wandy is my favorite fighter, and I know it was dumb to take of the gi in the middle of the fight, but I can’t help feeling it was kind of lame way to see it end. The fight went from ‘oh shit he’s throwing off his gi’… to ‘oh lame’.

That statement is EXACTLY the reason a fighter would wear a gi. If you know anything at all about how to use the jacket then you have a huge advantage. Of course, you need sleeves so I don’t know what he was thinking.
