I recently met Wanderlei in Toronto in a night club (it was pretty random). He was really nice and shook my hand warmly. I said I thought he should fight Cung Le in the clinch and he agreed. I took a picture with him but the camera flash was too bright and he’s blinking in the picture. He was very kind and down to earth in person, and not as big as I imagined. Definitely a fan for life. That being said, I think this is a bad match up and I think Wandy is probably on his way out as a fighter. Cung Le has great TD defense and he is a much crisper and more technical striker than Wanderlei. Cung Le by TKO in the 2nd. Sad but probably true.

I dont mind his music. But like rampage sais wanderlei doesnt seem like hes got that fire like he did in pride. You can also see the wear and tear of all his fights showing. He could win this fight but its not likely. I still like silva he is a stand up guy and a nice guy from what ive seen.

I love Wandy and Cung!! They were two of the most exciting fighters to watch a few years back. I use to get into arguments back in the Pride days with some of my sparring partners on how Wandy would kill Cung. I always pointed out that Cung is so well rounded with great boxing, MT, San Shou, TKD, and wrestling. The only way I said Wandy could win would be by a KO punch or if he could take Cung down and submit him. But I always pointed out how Wandy wouldn’t be able to do the latter bc of Cung’s great standup and wrestling. So at the time Wandy just had a great chance with his KO power but Cung’s standup was so superior to Wandy I argued that Wandy would get chopped to pieces with leg kick combos and sharp boxing. On top of that Cung would throw Wandy around like a rag doll destroying his ego and possibly injurying him. So now skip to present day and all holds true but now Cung acquired great BJJ skills and Wandy’s chin and speed deteriorated. So Cung will most likely destroy Wandy into retirement!!! (But Wandy always has a punchers chance and thats about it). Money definitely on Cung but always rooting for both!!
