Wandy’s fight aggressive style is the most effective for standup, he needs footwork to switch between aggressive and evasive, which is better than pure stationary defense (which is a last resort for defending a punch or kick).

@Halcyon – Agreed, but I don’t think Wandy is too far off. He can fight smart, he just need a few tips and control the urge to expose his chin when throwing. I think he can use some of Lyoto’s techniques to avoid getting hit while coming in to deliver his flurry and get out. Still the same exciting Ax Murderer, but without getting KOed every other fight.

The way they are sparring -light contact, tons of engagement- in 6 months, combined with some hard sparring, Wanderlei could change his style in very positive ways. It is very hard though.
