M1 Says, in 9-21-2009 at 10:27:35 from

Rich Franklin needs to retire, hes scared to get hit straight to the face now. After those face flattening knees that A. Silva did to him. He was just waiting for Vitor to woop him in that fight… Just retire new age of MMA is coming, avg fighters with nothing impressive to bring aint gonna make any name for themselves soon just like in boxing… only the Real top contenders will be known.

Kampmann –> done, among many others that dont really have that amazing natural physical attribute.

jayjay Says, in 9-21-2009 at 10:39:52 from

Vitor is back!!

ac5 Says, in 9-21-2009 at 10:53:31 from

Belfort looked very confident and determined. If he can keep that composure in all of his fights he is going to be really hard to beat.

sooooopernate Says, in 9-21-2009 at 11:22:18 from

yeah i agree fishcakesfedor, punched to the back of the head hurt alot more. I suppose they were unintentional but still…

ThiagO Says, in 9-21-2009 at 11:46:51 from

So Nice to see Vitor winning like this again!

The Austrian OAK Says, in 9-21-2009 at 12:05:31 from

they were slightly to the left back side of his head, not completly on the back. Vitor is my new #1 fighter next to machida+fedor.

bob Says, in 9-21-2009 at 12:21:27 from

Belfort reborn at this new weight and got his confidence back at Extreme Couture. If he comes mentally prepare against Silva he will be the new champion!!!

koalition Says, in 9-21-2009 at 13:20:50 from

Rich! The kids need you man! Go back to your day job! Do it for the kids! Your fighting is done man. Go!

ckrisis Says, in 9-21-2009 at 13:35:30 from

LOL hes the new #1 fighter next to machida and fedor?? come on now bob… im not saying he wont get there but this fight cant determine that…and this is very dissappoinring fight, i was really pulling for rich

NIL8 Says, in 9-21-2009 at 16:47:01 from

I agree w all of you, vitor is gonna be a force to reckon with if he keeps his emotions on check and continues dominating this way.

Jurkerbor Says, in 9-21-2009 at 16:58:34 from

Rich Franklin humillated again…

wow…..vitor belford vs anderson silva?

Stifle Says, in 9-21-2009 at 18:03:18 from

Franklin came with weak sauce. That’s why I like the eastern european style a lot better. They go full energy out the git go and overwhelm the opposition before they get a chance to warm up and find timing and range.

Hawkeye Says, in 9-21-2009 at 18:21:04 from

Franklin was done when he couldn’t hear Hume. Sad fight, just plain outclassed. Nothing wrong with his career, he’s only ever lost to THE best fighters around. I’d rather him retire after a song swan than stick around and take more punishment.

Let’s be real, this guy is a world class athlete and very intelligent. He’s not going back to the ghetto or a favela if he retires.

…and this is coming from a Franklin fan.

PitFighterZ Says, in 9-21-2009 at 18:39:20 from

Very impressive! If Belfort keeps his head in place, he will go far.
I still think both Machida and A. Silva would beat him, just because of their precision and ability to frustrate adversaries, just like Vitor, who like to go for the bang. But, his sheer power and speed would give anyone a run for their money.
Franklin is far away from be washed out, but he won’t ever be a champ again. He can still have a long and well-paid career as gatekeeper for either division.

smiley Says, in 9-21-2009 at 18:52:08 from

Ya Belfort look good but really Rich Franklin is not a real test. Franklin is done he has never been the same since Anderson Silva devestated his face twice :). I would love to see Belfort against a real opponent someone that isnt “afraid” to get in there and throw bombs back and forth. Oh and to the dumasses that said Belfort will be champ Laff not as long as Anderson Silva is in the ufc. I really dont see anyone beating Anderson!

F3dor Says, in 9-21-2009 at 19:01:12 from

back of neck is not back of skull, FYI!!!!

idk if he can take the spider but im guessing his chances are better than anyones

freee Says, in 9-21-2009 at 19:02:50 from

he’s bacccccck! again!

theicemancometh Says, in 9-21-2009 at 19:23:12 from

Rich Franklin done? Are you kidding? The dude just moved up a weight class and definately has his work cut out for him, but he’s sure as hell not done. Does anyone remember how many losses this guy had before this fight? Four. He had only lost to 3 people total, Loyoto Machida, Anderson Silva, and Dan Henderson, all of which are amazing fighters. This loss to Belfort is not a retirement blow, its just a wake up call for a now aging, but still great, fighter. Franklin will probably never hold a belt again, but he is no chump.

Drewington Says, in 9-21-2009 at 19:36:31 from

i find it funny that people say Rich Franklin needs to retire and make way for the new era of mma when Franklin is only 2 years older than Belfort

thaddiusluster Says, in 9-21-2009 at 19:38:39 from

Belfort vs Spider? Vitor has only 1 way to win, Silva has many.

Niv Says, in 9-21-2009 at 20:14:24 from

I think it’s been safe to say Vitor’s been back for a couple of years now.

If we look at the worst part of his career, it all started in 2004 after his sister was kidnapped and mudered. Anybody who cares about their family would have been devastated by that kind of event, and Vitor looks like he’s recovered emotionally.

I wish the phenom the best and I truly believe if he can cut down to 185 lb’s he’s the Spider’s biggest threat right now.

Good luck to Vitor.

E-G-muscle Says, in 9-21-2009 at 20:36:30 from

Vitor must be happy about that performance. Rich has had bad luck with brazilians.

pwner Says, in 9-21-2009 at 22:31:52 from

Vitor is back, Born again too? Living for the Lord Jesus..yeah nuff said..

wcoastassassin Says, in 9-22-2009 at 01:47:51 from

With Anderson Silva going to 205, 185 is Vitor’s for the taking. Would still like to see the 2 fight though. I think Vitor has as good of a chance as anyone.

hitman howard Says, in 9-22-2009 at 03:01:08 from

Lol my boys still savage… Not suprised. Glad we gonna see VB more often.

chefraski Says, in 9-22-2009 at 11:24:53 from

Thanks Bruno, Vitor is still the Man!

Toeknee Says, in 9-22-2009 at 17:46:22 from

tough lost for Franklin.. glad to see the phenom back at his old ways….was it just me or did both franklin and belfort look incredibly small for 196/198 i know both have fought at 205 and 185 and both being huge 185ers…strange…time to hang it up franklin and take up a career in jim carey impersonations.

The Black Swordsman Says, in 9-22-2009 at 20:05:20 from

Vitor Belfort has amazing hand spend and is a technically sound boxer. If he can make the weight at 185 he’s the picture perfect guy to give Anderson Silva the fight he needs. Silva wouldn’t have the size advantage he usually does at 185 and Belfort can strike with anybody. The only question is his mental toughness and commitment.

dayz Says, in 9-22-2009 at 22:16:26 from

early stoppage

The Funky FRO Says, in 9-23-2009 at 01:06:05 from

I agree with Hawkeye, Franklin didn’t seem to have a game plan espeically if it was to ‘hear his corner’. How the f are you supposed to listen to the corner, then react especially with the SPEED of Vitor? Are you kidding?

Sad sad fight. I really like Franklin because he’s got the heart and is a good guy, but he was CLEARLY outclassed

Throne Says, in 9-23-2009 at 01:16:12 from

Strikes to the back of the head were a result of Franklin turning his head…ala Lesnar v Mir I.

Was interesting how visible the change in VB’s approach was when he found Franklin’s timing… it was over 10 seconds later.

killa willa Says, in 9-23-2009 at 11:12:24 from

Man!!!!…it didnt even seem that vitor hit him solidly…..he must have the same power he did before he returned

Kanye West Says, in 9-23-2009 at 14:32:56 from

Yo Floyd Mayweather Jr! I’m happy for you, I’mma let you finish, but VITOR BELFORT HAD ONE OF THE BEST COMEBACKS IN MMA OF ALL TIME!

gringo Says, in 9-26-2009 at 11:51:22 from

we all know that Franklin has a glass chin. I like him and he’s a good guy, but he cannot take a punch.

The Kid Says, in 9-26-2009 at 21:50:41 from

Rich, leave Hughes camp if you want to be a competitor!

kob Says, in 9-27-2009 at 23:13:52 from

The punch that crunched him was at 6:46 while he was on the ground. You see Franklin flatten out a bit. Belfort in shape is very dangerous. Gringo. Franklin has a glass chin? Put away against Belfort & Silva. Not exactly bad fighters.

ufckfc Says, in 10-3-2009 at 13:13:50 from

I think kimbo slice can beat fedor and spider and vitor and whoever else you can put to the test. theyre all suckers. Kimbo is from tha hood. aiight! Yeah boy!!!!!!

qqq Says, in 10-7-2009 at 05:41:22 from

you would have to be an idiot not to see that would happen
