A thing I noticed within the first half a round was how few strikes Bisping was throwing and how little movement he was using. Sitting down on his punches, and slipping instead of backing out. Very uncharacteristic. Almost like he was trying to beat Belfort at his own style. As interesting as it was to see this knew Bisping, I honestly believe he would have fared better employing his previous point fighting tactics.

@ToOcH911: Once he caught on with Bisping’s rhythm, he was safe. He just needed Bisping to make a mistake and that’s why he dropped his hand to lure him in.
#Beast w/ 8 Limbs: I think it was more Vitor cutting him off than Bisping’s intention. Bisping got mentally and tactically overwhelmed. He is an o.k. boxer, but he realized quickly that Vitor is a professional level boxer with much better footwork and hand speed.

Bisping was robbed I think it’s fairly obvious if that fight had been in the uk bisping would have landed that head kick. You might not have won the fight mike but you won the respect of the Brazilan people.

Belfort outclassed Bisping and made it look like he had no business fighting him. glad to see Belfort get the W and am embarrassed to say i thought Vitor was overdue for retitement. just goes to show you never really know the true level of some mma fighters until they do the darn thing.

Bisping worked his way to this match before getting a title shot with Silva. If he would’ve won. But why should Weidman demand one if he hasn’t really fought anyone. Clearly when he fought Munoz he had the advantage with Munoz coming in out of shape and getting over an injury. Chris should work his way up the ladder like Bisping did. If he can win. What you guys think.

Vitor is 8 and 2 in his last 10 fights. The losses being Jon Jones and A. Silva, and we all know everyone looses to those guys. Basically Bisping didn’t stand a chance.

It’s a shame to see the “limey” comments creeping in here – I’ve always, perhaps naively, viewed MMA as a sport that transcends national boundaries. I’m from the UK, but I’ll never support someone just because of their country of origin and I certainly wasn’t rooting for Bisping here. Now, people are talking Rashad v. Silva. I hope this DOES NOT happen. I can’t stand this new trend that is emerging in the UFC of feeding a champion, a sloppy second from a different division. Edgar loses to Henderson, get’s an automatic shot at Aldo. Sonnen gets KO’d, get’s an automatic shot at Bones. And now Rashad gets to fight Silva after losing badly to Jones?!? It’s Anderson Silva ok? He can sit out until there’s a true contender.

I don’t know why people didn’t think Belfort would win.He’s one of the best MMA fighter ever imo.NHB champion at 18,one of the best boxer in MMA(now he’s adding kicks)and a real BJJ black belt.He destroys EVERYONE he wins against.Everybody are talking about his loss to Tito Randy Chuck Hendo and Reem but Vitor was a MW fighter fighting at 205.He was too muscular to be effective at 205.He’s still a great LHW but that’s just because he’s that good.And btw losing to a bigger Tito,Randy,Chuck,Hendo,Reem or Jones isn’t that bad when you consider they are all great fighters.And I’m not making excuses but when your sister gets kidnapped and killed but you don’t know what happened for years,you lose focus in training no matter how mentally strong you are.

Notice how he went to bisping after even during a roaring stadium of Brazilian cheers to check if bisping was ok. class act
vitor has added kick set ups to his arsenal . being in the game this long and continuing to evolve like vitor or hell even henderson.. is rare. but vitor is humble down to the floor. kick ass guy and win

@ Beast w/ 8 limbs… Edgar won the 2nd fight with Henderson in a lot of people’s eyes. And Aldo has cleaned that division. Edgar is a much better challenge than anyone else at 145.
Rashad walks around close to 200. He’s more of a natural MW than LHW. And he didn’t lose “BADLY” to JJ… he’s the first person to take him the distance and the first person to stuff JJ’s takedown attempts. Granted he couldn’t get any TD’s on his own, but he gave Jones more of a challenge than anyone else from the very fact that he lasted the whole fight, which no-one else has done. Rashad would beat almost anyone at 185 and would be a great challenge for Anderson. I agree though that Rashad needs one fight at MW to warrant a title shot and that Weidman needs one more big win to also warrant the shot. I think a #1 contender between Rashad and Chris Weidman would be awesome and make sense for the division.

Vitor did a fine job of setting up his two headkicks with the earlier thunder kicks he was throwing to Bisping’s liver. I knew what was coming, it was only a matter of when. I am very happy for Vitor, and I would dislike Bispo no matter where he was born. He is quite simply a tool, and not a particularly sharp one. I am always pleased to see him lose.

A lot of people talking about Bisping choking in big fights. I just think he is not good enough to beat these elite guys. Plus what sort of a challenge would he really present for someone like Anderson Silva. Anderson’s striking is quite a few classes above Bisping’s.

Bisping is not an elite fighter. He’s never even been that good, just average. I don’t even know how some people had Bisping winning this fight. Bisping has no knockout power, he’s not a finisher, and he’s fighting a fighter whose twice the fighter he is. There’s nothing special about Bisping for people to hug his nuts like that. Too much talk about nationality and religion in this. I remember watching Bisping as a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter back in the day. He seemed to be a fairly muted presence until fight time. Someone ran their mouth, he felt disrespected and next thing you know he’s out back with a cigar in his mouth strutting around and talking s***. Talkin bout his kid and his wife and fighting to live. I loved it! When he got handed a gift wrapped decision against Matt Hammil, and decided to talk s*** about a person that couldn’t even hear him instead of showing respect to the man that just kicked his ass, he lost me. His shitty attitude on TUF when he coached against Hendo only further pushed me away. The Brits dominated that season and as a person of English heritage I was happy for them. But when they kept talking s*** and gloating I clearly remember reminding some people that post on this very site who their coach had to fight and we all remember how that ended. All I’m getting at is Karma is a bitch. Amen to “We are all one.” Two game fighters showed up and Vitor (an OG in the sport) won. Much respect to both men and a shout out to the Brazilian crowd. Love the way they support their fighters.
