Vitor Belfort Has Hand Surgery, UFC 147 Rematch With Wanderlei Silva Off

UFC 147 Main Event Fighter Vitor Belfort has suffered a broken hand and will not compete at the June 23 event.


Last night in Las Vegas at the UFC 146 post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White announced that Belfort had undergone hand surgery earlier in the day. Belfort was slated to lock horns with rival Wanderlei Silva at Felipe Drumond Stadium in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. White confirmed that Silva will still compete on the card and that the promotion is currently seeking a replacement opponent for “The Axe Murderer.”

Tristeza is right!!! What a shame!! I know it would of been an easy win for Vitor again but I still wanted to see my 2 all time favorite fighters going at it.

This is really sad, as I see the sport continue to decline just like the horrible card last night, this could be one of the last things the UFC needed. BUT as long as uneducated low income households follow Nascar they will follow UFC if Dana pimps their ears enough. Sonnen/Silva 1 , I hope was not fixed..still have my doubts but if Silva stomps him where is the next card?

I dont think that was his worst beating. Maybe the fastest but he wasnt even out cold. Cro Cop 2, Hendo 2, and Rampage 3 were far worse IMO.

Clarify some things, I am a Personal trainer and I stay at 175 and I can’t get any taller 6’3″ [Sorry] I am tired of arguing on this forum about the ridgeline of the jaw, it does not matter if if you are 500lbs or 110lbs if you throw an accurate punch with something behind it, does not matter the size of the person that got hit ask Suge Knight.. You missed what I was saying from a business point of view..UFC will be over in 2-3 years. God Bless you
