Never take your eyes off your opponent. That wild elbow at the end was Faber’s only major mistake in the fight, but a pro like Brown will take advantage of it. WTF was that? It was like he tried to sneak it in, but the result was that he wasn’t looking at Brown and Brown was looking at him… and got a clear, full on, wide open shot to the chin. I think Faber just got frustrated, lost his patience, and lashed out.

He’ll grow up, and will never make that mistake again.

All that being said, Uriah was defending himself and trying to recover when the fight was stopped early. He still likely would’ve lost, but the fight should’ve continued long enough to make sure.

Urijah isn’t overrated; he’s so good that he makes everyone else look bad. He was doing fine, until he got reckless with that elbow. Mike Brown was the slower fighter, but timing is everything for most knockouts.

Good fight guys, I really want to see the rematch.

Just for the record, when a fighter is confident in his abilities and is a good showmen doesn’t mean they’re cocky.

Right away I knew Mike Brown had his number. Urijah did not like getting thrown onto the floor and he looked awkward and frustrated afterwards. He started showboating and acting reckless.
The Pulver fight made him too cocky. His ego got in the way and he needed an @$$-kicking bad.

A great win for Mike Brown he worked hard in the sport and seized the opportunity.

I like Faber, but he was overconfident. How else would you explain keeping his hands down? He must of thought he was Roy Jones Jr. in his prime and could get away with it, but he was wrong. All fighters lose, this kind of reminded me of the GSP-Serra fight where you have one fighter seemingly unable to lose and gets caught off guard. It seems a little similar. Now we’ll see if he can avenge his loss.

There’s no way that fight was stopped too soon. Faber was hurt and was eating shots while laying prone. The ref has a responsibility to protect the fighters and that’s what he did here.

Faber gambled with a sloppy elbow and he got caught, Brown won the title fair and square. I’m sure these guys will meet again.

Does anyone know what happened to Brown’s ribs? When I watched the fight last night he was last seen being helped back to his dressing room in a ton of pain.

Now I always read Faber is cocky and a punk, well I don’t know the guy but he sure seemed very humble and classy in defeat.

funny reading the reactions of people here. Faber overrated? I don’t think so. So he lost; I don’t know of any MMA fighter that hasn’t lost. That doesn’t mean that all of them are overrated. Good fighters get beat; that’s the nature of the sport. Mike Brown, lucky shot? I don’t think so either. It’s not like an anvil fell out of the sky and hit Faber on the chin. Brown worked him inside, had him off balance a couple of times and in a few short minutes, had Faber looking frustrated enough to try an blind elbow shot like that. Both excellent fighters and I’m certainly looking forward to a rematch.

Thank you very much timma, no way can you consider Urijah Faber overrated. The guy has lost twice in his professional career, he’s destroyed everyone he’s fought except Griffin. If a rematch occurs, don’t expect the same result. Faber got caught, I doubt it will happen again.

Come on Faber is not overrated. He was a little to over zealous and like somebody said in an earlier post that was an ADD move and he got caught. Mike Brown looked like he was one step ahead of Faber anyway. Urijah isn’t cocky or overrated. He is a great fighter who got caught by a better fighter. The fight was NOT stopped too early either. Urijah was getting popped and his head was snapping back and he was out on his knees. Much props to Mike Brown who had Urijahs number.

Faber is one of the best Fighters on the MMA scene in any weight class, but match ups are what they are and some folks don’t match up well against certain fighters. Brown is just a bad match up for Faber, dose not mean that Brown is any better or worse than Faber just he matches up better than anyone Faber has fought so far. Browns power and toughness are a tough match for a fighter like Faber who is very quick, athletic and many times reckless because of their perceived lack of competition. Faber will lose any rematch because he is a creature of habit, and will once again display the propensity to act asinine should he get a few good strikes on Brown.
The dumb nut who keeps calling people to take a two week membership at his gym… Shut up and remember the eternal truth – God made man but Sam Colt made them even.
