Ultimate Fighter Fridays: Scrap Pack – Roy Nelson Brings In Nate, Nick Diaz And Jake Shields To Help Train His Fighters.
Diaz brothers would be cool to work with, Shields not so much.
Why? If I was a MMA fighter I would welcome the opertunity to train with shields.
His fights may not be as exiting as the Diaz brothers but he got plenty to of skills to teach.
And probebly be less awkward to talk to then the less verbal talented Diaz brothers.
all Jake shields does is lay n gay not a fighter at all
I can’t think of many fighters I’d rather train with for grappling than Shields
That single leg takedown isnt gonna work unless you first grab with the outside arm (hooking their leg with your outside arm) then grab with the other arm keeping your forehead pressed against them to keep them off balance. Once you are there you can grab with the other arm, by that time they are off balance so you dont need to use a lot of strength to fight them and bring their leg up off the ground. You should be perpendicular to them pressing with the head and pulling the leg into your crotch area. Then just cut a tight circle while taking a bow. when you bend down and circle they should go down but it still doesnt always work. Some guys just hop around on one leg and fight it forever.
It is a very basic takedown, and it won’t work on a wrestler.
The retard family.
Talk all the s*** you want about Shields and his pillow hands but he’s a great grappler.Probably one of the best in WW.He’s so good on the ground that GSP didn’t want anything to do with his grappling.
“The retard family”… these are 3 top fighters in the world. They are also excellent teachers and trainers. It’s just ridiculous to think you wouldn’t have anything to learn from them.
I don’t care about their whining antics, but you can’t take away the fact that they are damn good at what they do.
surprised he’s showing them such a basic move (single leg) in the video… but then again at wrestling practice we work the basics time and time again.
For all the folks who don’t think Shields is a good grappler. I seem to remember him laying on top of Dan Henderson for three rounds and there was nothing Dan could do about it.
Sorry …correction ,it was five rounds.
rgood
you are a complete idiot…
Yes he layed on an INJURED Hendo for 5 rounds (and that’s ALL he did) and almost got knocked out.
