Hendricks VS Lawler for vacant Welterweight Title in March 15 @ Dallas Stadium.

Damn. I love it. GSP threw a wrench in the situation. If GSP is saying the ufc did him wrong then I would think he is telling the truth. It makes you believe the other fighters who said the same thing. GSP can enjoy the fruits of his labor a little bit, good for him.

thank god finaly. Good bye, I only saw yours fights with the expectation of seeing you fall. This is the proof that he lost to JH. He took a beating and don’t want another, he likes to control and JH is a f****** tornado, soo…

I like this move by GSP. He needs and deserves a break. When he returns its going to be EPIC. Like Batman or something. The Dark Knight rises. He will on fire finishing guys because he won’t be concerned with playing it safe since he’s not the champ anymore.

What’s this I hear about security trying to keep GSP from attending a press conference? Anything Bruno?

Bruno: have not heard that.

^that depends. He finished lots of guys in 3 round fights. Harder to do with a 5 rounder.

nccs2004 Says, in 12-13-2013 at 16:37:24 from

thats the dumbest thing Ive ever heard. Come back and play it safe because he’s not the champ? He’d be dub not to play it safe; whats the point in coming back if he’s not going to win and become the champ again? Playing it safe is how he got the belt too, not just how he held on to it.

@shocktime I agree and think it’s a good thing for the fans and that weight division.

His record will always show that he went out with a win. His face will never look like that again. No more media following him around hotels while he endulges in hookers. He has plenty of $$$. Why not retire? He played the game and won, mostly. The sad part is that the next chapter in his story is pugilistic dementia which given his spoken beliefs in aliens and such, has clearly begun. Best wishes to him.

shock- you are out of your mind. gsp vacated because he knows he was getting KTFO in his next fight. he worried about his legacy or some gay ego crap like it. gsp was no warrior… he was canadian. god save the queen

danada Says, in 12-13-2013 at 17:40:25 from

Johnny Hendricks will be a s*** champion and will lose his belt shortly thereafter if he manages to beat Lawler. Lawler has came a long way since getting knocked out by Diaz in the UFC. He’s such a better fighter now. I think Condit beat Johnny, and WILL beat him if they fought again. Nick Diaz would have had it eassssy street of Hendricks was champ. Nick feeds off power punchers with s*** cardio. You guys seriously want Hendricks as champ? He doesn’t have enough cardio to last 5 rounds. He beat GSP that fight, no question, but he lost the 5th round pretty badly and was gassed halfway through the 3rd. It just doesn’t look convincing. Name me a current champ that gasses out in a 5 round fight? I like a knockout as much as the next guy, but c’mon.

Love how you some of you ppl “know” the fighters mind
“gsp vacated because he knows he was getting KTFO in his next fight.”

How the f@k do you know?

I’m a hunter and I recognize fear when I see it. GSP always were about well being, and get miself protected and can’t get KO no more.mikebenoit you have a gay name so I don’t care about you. If you like boring fights go for it.

bigFishLittlepond Says, in 12-13-2013 at 21:26:48 from

danada – Hendricks may not have great cardio but it’s good enough to be champ. I think you’re focusing too much on GSP’s style of fighting safe and reserving cardio for the later rounds. It was Johny’s first 5 round fight and he played it safe against a great champion who could easily beat him. And he didn’t look that gassed you’re exaggerating. If Hendricks was gassed in the third he would have been on his back in the 4th and 5th. Hendricks won the 4th and arguably he won the 5th. You are clearly a GSP apologist.

I won’t bad mouth GSP’s style but he was a safe fighter that’s for sure. Maybe his stubbornness of trying to win every minute of every round is why he is so worn out. Maybe if he left it all in the cage he would have rebooted after every fight win or lose instead of carrying the same legacy pressure around on his shoulders day and night. And I’m not bad mouthing GSP I’m telling the truth. GSP put a ton of pressure on himself. Guys who are not afraid to lose live with a lot less daily pressure. The most rejuvenated I ever saw GSP was after his loss to Serra when he fought Kos. He looked like he had fire in his veins during the walkout. I just believe if GSP fought with less reserve and he left all his raw emotion inside the cage where it belongs then the pressure would have been different. Rather… he carried the same tired pressure over and over again into his future fights and because he didn’t reboot properly it all caught up to him and the pressure became more difficult for him to manage than the fight itself.

That said, what he accomplished is stellar even if I don’t agree with his style. He should be proud of himself and I hope he is able to reboot and either retire or come back stronger.

With gsp out of the way, maybe macdonald will starting taking things more seriously. He’s looked flat in his last couple of fights.

T’Challa Says, in 12-14-2013 at 12:54:48 from

Lotta haters as usual.. GSP is the Greatest Welterweight Champion of All Time. If he was American, half of these losers would be chanting USA and saying he was the best ever. He’s done more for UFC than any other fighter, the PPV King, and if he wants to take a break so be it.

Whoever wins the vacant belt will be a paper champ because to be the man, you have to BEAT the man. Only 2 men have ever beaten Georges, Serra & Hughes, and he avenged both losses.

Danby Says, in 12-14-2013 at 13:28:37 from

Maybe Nick diaz will come back for a shot at the title!!! Gsp was too cautious and smart of a fighter for nick to beat, but all the other guys will get pulled in by his crap talk and get beaten down.

Kood Says, in 12-14-2013 at 15:47:47 from

@Nuno “The hunter” ^^ has spoken. I’m not sure what the debate is about. He’s a hunter and obviously knows his stuff.
