honestly…like him or not can we agree that nate diaz is underpaid. not only does he always bring it he always fights top flight talent. list of fighters that made more base salary than nate tonight are as follows: henderson, Melendez, cormier, mir, Thompson, brown, mein, mendez, elkin, carmont, larkin, nyjem, benvenitez, dillashaw, masvidal, and njokiana….really!!!!!

am I the only that thinks diaz is underpaid?? the last fight diaz fought that wasn’t in the top 10 in his weight class was marcus davis almost 3 years ago.

Joe Dog Says, in 4-22-2013 at 09:45:28 from

Why is Nate Diaz paid so poorly?

Yoplait Says, in 4-22-2013 at 10:16:18 from

I guess we now know why Cesar Gracie was let go. Sucks that he got paid poorly but I’m glad he got his face punched in.

Nikki Says, in 4-22-2013 at 10:21:57 from

@petepetro I am going to have to agree with you man. Damn, no wonder the Diaz brothers are always angry.

mmashburn Says, in 4-22-2013 at 10:28:47 from

@pete – wonder if that’s why he got a new manager recently?

jdogg Says, in 4-22-2013 at 10:53:13 from

Yea, Nate Diaz is getting one broke off in him. Unless, he is getting big money from endorsements or Dana is making it look like he’s getting paid less for tax purposes.

Dave-O Says, in 4-22-2013 at 11:07:15 from

It was 4/20. They paid him the rest in weed.

Adonis Says, in 4-22-2013 at 11:09:55 from

Wow… Nate is severely underpaid. The whole UFC staff should be super embarrassed about that sht.

0bobmar Says, in 4-22-2013 at 11:30:15 from

@petepetro Says. That is exactly what I was thinking. I couldn’t agree more. Furthermore, he really isn’t this jerk that he is portrayed on TV. I ran into him at UFC 109 while roaming the halls. I expected him to be a bit of a dumb, socially awkward prick. On the contrary, out of the approximately 8 fighters I spoke with at the Mandalay Bay during fight week, he was the only one to talk to me for over 5 minutes, and he listened, too. And, the guy actually introduced himself. “Hey, my name’s Nate. What’s yours?” The most down to earth fighter I’ve ever met.

KungFuLowKick Says, in 4-22-2013 at 11:30:15 from

Nate Diaz title contender gets 15k???

KungFuLowKick Says, in 4-22-2013 at 11:33:27 from

Wow Nijem is paid like Diaz. This is extremely ridiculous.Nijem is not close to be UFC quality and gets 15k and Diaz is top 5(or 10 if you don’t like him) in the most stacked division and he gets 15k.

Realbobert Says, in 4-22-2013 at 11:33:35 from

Agreed. Was thinking the same.

colonel Says, in 4-22-2013 at 11:39:40 from

Is that a typo? Is Nate getting 15k or 150k?

tallandsincere Says, in 4-22-2013 at 11:48:53 from

I Agree,

When i saw his purse i was shocked,No doubt there will have been a large win bonus but thats ridiculous.

You also do not know how much each fighter truly earns per fight, PPV Bonus, Sponsors etc etc.

But i agree that i was shocked

someone0001 Says, in 4-22-2013 at 11:49:18 from

I agree with you “petepetro.” I usually think that all these guys need more for what they’re doing, but especially a guy that people hear is on the card, and they get excited about it.

I’m hoping that there’s something like the PPV buys that gets whacked up and spread around, and Nate opted for that over a higher purse.

I have no clue how that business works, but if guys on the under-card made more than him, that’s f***** wrong.

Dharmaboy Says, in 4-22-2013 at 11:51:11 from

Not a huge Diaz bros fan but how they hell did he only get $15k to show up and put on a tough fight?

WTF is going on? I mean these guys are taking heavy shots to the head and barely even covering their training camps.

I don’t think thats cool man.

Roe Jogan Says, in 4-22-2013 at 11:52:13 from

I hope that was a typo?

Nate Diaz: $15,000 ????

Can you confirm this Bruno?

If this is true and I was Nate… I’d retire.

INANEBIGNATE Says, in 4-22-2013 at 12:01:28 from

expect alot of hate for your comment but I agree 100 percent. That was the only salary that kinda shocked me. I thought his show money would at least be 45k but 15k is pretty lowball by the ufc imo

mmathunderbay Says, in 4-22-2013 at 12:08:22 from

Im not a Diaz fan but Thompson shouldn’t be making 9x the amount Nick makes. 15000 schmebes dosen’t seem like much considering the amount of people the Diaz broes put into seats… and Matt Brown makes $110,00?? what!?

Doyle Brunson Says, in 4-22-2013 at 12:15:26 from

theres some nasty crusty s*** in frank mirs eyes in that pic

booger Says, in 4-22-2013 at 12:30:25 from

I agree entirely; nate absolutely is underpaid. It’s shocking

DC_Fitness Says, in 4-22-2013 at 12:46:24 from

Ya how the hell and who the hell is working out nates deals? He’s a HUGE reason a lot of people even watched this event. No matter his rank number he’s a top 10 fighter every time he fights

FEDOR Says, in 4-22-2013 at 12:47:58 from

hahaha 15k for nate diaz.. get f***** son..

dragoman Says, in 4-22-2013 at 12:57:22 from

yea that is shocking to see how little diaz makes, hopeflly they are getting sponsored quite well

JJ Says, in 4-22-2013 at 13:27:15 from

@petepetro don’t worry, what you see is not what he gets, it’s very higly unlikely or rather impossible. Of course his base salary is low but it’s only worth as much as the paper it’s written on. He makes much more than that

SpiderNoob7 Says, in 4-22-2013 at 13:43:55 from

I agree with you petepetro.. I don’t like Nate’s attitude but he is a talented fighter that has a major draw for fans. But my biggest question is where does all the money they make for these events go? when you’re only paying out 1,518,000 dollars to your fighters there should be a lot of money left over even after overhead cost.. I really think the UFC should invest in their fighters at all levels if they want to have a healthy relationship with their fighters.. but what do I know I’m just a keyboard warrior

Clemmit Says, in 4-22-2013 at 13:57:14 from

Nate Diaz seriously underpaid he would hav been a big contribution in what attracted viewers for this card. He should have got a fair cut. Whats that like 10k UK, thats not right. Did i hear correctly, TJ whatthefrick got more basic pay than Diaz?! His fight wasnt even on TV.

OscarMayhem Says, in 4-22-2013 at 13:58:00 from

@ petepetro

I agree with you. Moreover, not one of the fighters should have been paid under 25K for risking their health for our entertainment. It’s disgusting.

jew Says, in 4-22-2013 at 14:03:49 from

That must be a typo for nate diaz’s payout. there’s noway he only got paid 15k for that fight

yaright Says, in 4-22-2013 at 14:05:31 from

it prolly ment to say 150,000

mmalove Says, in 4-22-2013 at 14:12:19 from

Blame his managers, they negotiate his contract.

jasonfn22 Says, in 4-22-2013 at 14:13:23 from

that nate diaz number has to be wrong

jasonfn22 Says, in 4-22-2013 at 14:16:10 from

They need to fire Caesar Gracie as a manager.

808beans Says, in 4-22-2013 at 14:24:12 from

Nate must have something new written in his contract because 15k is wayy too low for someone of his caliber and especially considering he was #1 ranked contender at 155lbs just a few months back.

808beans Says, in 4-22-2013 at 14:27:14 from

Matt brown just impresses me more and more… i was rooting for this guy way back in the ultimate fighter days, i always knew he had what it took to make it this far in his career. But he’s still got a few fights before a title shot…. 170 is just stacked… I’d say give him Rory macdonald next or carlos condit

bumblebollocks Says, in 4-22-2013 at 14:27:42 from

this is the first thing thats ever gotten me pissed off enough to post on this site. the amount of money gets paid is a joke.
when u concider how long hes been in the sport and who hes fought…. darren elkins is getting paid 10gs more than him! no wonder he sacked of his management

Lazer212 Says, in 4-22-2013 at 14:36:11 from

Agreed petepetro, I hate Nate but he should be making much more.

Young Says, in 4-22-2013 at 14:43:57 from

Yea I agree. I didn’t notice after you said that and man that’s a lot of fighters that haven’t been there longer and they are makin more on undercard fights?

Young Says, in 4-22-2013 at 14:48:00 from

Josh Thompson was goin to make 50k if he lost too. And Nate gets 15k that’s bs. Even if it ended the same way diaz would have got 75k

wow Says, in 4-22-2013 at 14:49:18 from

Bruno is that a misprint or did Nate seriously only get paid 15,000 to fight a guy getting 85,000 pre-bonuses?!?

Bruno: not a misprint. These are the official numbers. $15k is correct. I feel sure he got paid money in an undisclosed form. The UFC probably paid off Nick’s tax debt under the table.

tweegos Says, in 4-22-2013 at 14:49:19 from

I think Diaz really made 150k.. must be a misprint

fire Says, in 4-22-2013 at 15:21:38 from

Nate is getting robbed.

cigronne Says, in 4-22-2013 at 15:22:09 from

Who negotiates these figures?? Diaz numbers are hilarious, I know fighters make loads of cash out of the sponsors and such, but still, who negotiates for Diaz???? Can’t believe my eyes!!

drewblood Says, in 4-22-2013 at 15:23:16 from

Nate Diaz must be a typo… no way he made $15k

Dave Says, in 4-22-2013 at 15:31:00 from

Wow I can’t believe Nate got paid only 15 grand this is horrible and very unfair. the guy comes to fight every time. they have to train their ass off.
shame on UFC 15 grand won’t even cover the bills and training. this is messed up!

rockhead Says, in 4-22-2013 at 15:37:19 from

He’s definitely underpaid! And Mir’s performance should have only gotten him Diaz’s pay ;).

nicknackpattywack Says, in 4-22-2013 at 16:03:23 from

Remember, Nate Diaz was a TUF winner, and his “6 figure” contract was probably like this:

10k$ up-front for winning TUF

6 fights @ $15k per fight= 90K$

but he’ll have a hard time renegotiating for a higher contract when he’s down losses…lucky for him, he probably has won a few FOTN and SOTN bonuses….

dickhead Says, in 4-22-2013 at 16:08:27 from

How is Nate Diaz making less than Mein?

ryeboi Says, in 4-22-2013 at 16:31:18 from

^ my thoughts exactly

Assapopalous420 Says, in 4-22-2013 at 16:35:28 from

i totally agree. diaz is ridiculously underpaid.

Coutura Says, in 4-22-2013 at 16:39:47 from

It has to be a mistake ,150.000 not 15000 .

BiteMyBird Says, in 4-22-2013 at 16:47:12 from

Maybe Diaz shouldn’t sign contracts that under pay him.
Hopefully his new management will do a better job.

Young Says, in 4-22-2013 at 16:47:35 from

fire Says, in 4-22-2013 at 16:53:29 from

Diaz is way underpaid. But I’m sure he made a crapload from sponsors considering this was on FOX

Stranger Says, in 4-22-2013 at 17:09:46 from

this might explain why Cesar is no longer his agent.

bwa_z Says, in 4-22-2013 at 17:10:29 from

I would imagine that Diaz asks for less of his income on the books and more in the “bonus” category for tax purposes. The option is there for the fighters, might as well take advantage.

Noel Says, in 4-22-2013 at 17:17:03 from

considering these are professional athletes who train full time and have teams behind them and how much money the UFC made off this promotion, these are starvation wages for a lot of these fighters.
And, yes, Diaz is grossly underpaid.

perrylee Says, in 4-22-2013 at 17:25:25 from

WOOOOOOOOOOOOW Nate only got 15,000 WTF!!!!! he gets rookie money. I don’t give a damn with DANA WHITE says that these guys get paid good hell nah. If a Maywather fight can dish out 80 miliion bucks for one event the ufc can atleat try to give out 10 million hell even 5 million. The UFC put on over 50 events a year to mayweathers 2-3 and yes i know mayweather avg 1 million ppv buys but the ufc avg 400,000 ppv buys and they have 12 or more ppv events a year. mma is under paid

kill666 Says, in 4-22-2013 at 17:39:52 from

i agree with you, paying 85.000 to Josh Thomson (with out bonus, etc) and only 15.000 to Nate Diaz is just f*cking stupid, Nate Diaz is a well known fighter,he always fight top competition and try to make entreteining fights.

alwaysright Says, in 4-22-2013 at 18:43:53 from

Wow Nate Diaz didn’t half get screwed over there!
Also (Without the win bonus) Henderson (The Champion) was getting paid $100,000 compared to Gilbert’s $175,000? That doesn’t make any sense! Frank Mir needs to teach Henderson some negotiating skills, cause obviously he must be a master at it!

PowerTele Says, in 4-22-2013 at 19:35:59 from

We all finally agree on something, Nate Diaz is getting jacked.

PowerTele Says, in 4-22-2013 at 19:38:26 from

If you get paid it, you pay taxes on it, even if it is a bonus, or a car, or a house. It does not matter, the USA government makes the working man pay.

BiteMyBird Says, in 4-22-2013 at 20:16:00 from

Nate can always refuse to sign the contract.
This seems like a typo.
hopefully his new manager will do a better job.

fedoram Says, in 4-22-2013 at 21:31:21 from

Nate is hell of a fighter win or loose he brings the fight, he is one of the ufc’s big names but the pay he got for that is sooo poor, shame on UFC if i was Nate i would leave UFC and still make more money in small organization like bellator etc

thisguy Says, in 4-22-2013 at 21:55:45 from

This is the answer. The guys who came over from Strikeforce most likely got paid due to their former contract. This just proves Strikeforce paid their fighters way better than the UFC. Further proof is Robby Lawler got paid 95K just to show against Kos. Kos got 78K to show (UFC 157 salaries). If you look at the list again all the SF fighters are the ones whose salaries are inflated in comparison to their UFC counterparts. Masvidal got paid 3X what his opponent got. You get the picture. Don’t listen to what the UFC tells you. Do your own research and think critically if you want answers. UFC underpays 90% of their fighters period.

Nate is right on the brim of fighters the UFC can afford to underpay. He’ll get better next time.

KungFuLowKick Says, in 4-22-2013 at 22:11:18 from

Somebody did a very shitty job getting the contract though.I know why him and his brother found a new manager…Now I know why Nick used to whine about not getting paid.

JonUK Says, in 4-22-2013 at 22:51:33 from

All being said…

I like the way the win bonuses are structured… makes people fight harder for more money… better for the fans.

As for Nick’s wages – that can’t be right OR Nick has made so much that he’s looking after Nate as he plays out his contract. It’s obvious Nick and Nate don’t want to do MMA anymore so it could be that Nick is just helping out his brother.

grzegorz86 Says, in 4-22-2013 at 23:19:59 from

wow… i mean ya diaz hardly did anything in that fight.. but to be contracted to make 15,000 to show only.. and ur the season 5 ultimate fighter as well as a title contender and dana claim he loves the diaz brothers n how they fight.. he got majorly ripped off.. he was punked by the powers to be

Damnnnn I feel bad for Diaz i know you did bad and loss how did you only get 1k more then Ramsey i know that guy he trains in Utah but thats just not right that you who is obviously a top ten fighter got only 1k more for your loss then a guy not necessarily ranked in the top 25 i believe and KO 1st round and you barely passed him by a Grand something is FISHY here lol

jdawg Says, in 4-23-2013 at 11:36:28 from

This has to be a mistake, he was paid $50,000 just to show for his fight with Jim Miller (+$50,000 win bonus).
