Jones lives in his Jon Jones-Centric world. Prima Donna. It’s not about you, Mr. Jones, it’s about saving an event for the fans. His stock with fans would have risen wildly beating the snot out of Chael Sonnen on short notice.

The first half of this interview made me understand and side with him a little bit, but then after Ariel asked him if he listen to Dana’s interview and he said “NO I just read stuff on twitter….” THEN 20 mins later he turns around and contradiction himself by correcting Ariel on what Dana actually said when he listen to Dana’s broadcast.

You almost had me JJ!!

Why does Chael get the fight vs Jon Jones?

The UFC should have found a suitable opponent at a later date subbed the main event with another fight like they have done in the past.

The upcoming Victor Belfort fight is a JOKE WTF is the UFC thinking?

I’m no Jon Jones Fan but the UFC shares the blame not only Jon Jones.

Only the ignorant would put 100% of the blame on the Jones.

dmfh1981 Says, in 9-4-2012 at 11:55:46 from

I agree completely, fully, 100% with what he is saying…BUT shame on him for thinking Dana White gave a f*ck about him or anyone else for that matter…

Roe Jogan Says, in 9-4-2012 at 11:57:16 from

Screw him in the neck with Fedor’s dick.

1. He screwed all the fighters and their teams on the card that depended on it for a paycheck.
2. He screwed all the event personnel.
3. He screwed the city and the businesses around the event.
4. He screwed the fans.
5. He screwed the UFC.

I want Dana to make a new division… the “REAL Light Heavyweight” division. It will be 204 weight +1 a pound of leniency. They have a tourney for the champ, Jones is not invited. Then, offer Jones his fights with ONLY retired or injured fighters and put them at the bottom of a card every 9 months… cancel them all… and he gets no replacement opponents, because he does not do that. Then boot him from the UFC when his contract is up. Merge divisions when he is gone.

Wish him a nice life in Bellator.

AOPrinciple Says, in 9-4-2012 at 12:17:55 from

At first I was really pissed at Jackson and Jones for the UFC 151 business. After listening to this interview, though, I think I Jones’ reasons for turning Chael down were really good ones. The truth is, Jones is not responsible for the collapse of 151 (he wasn’t even aware what would happen) and he made an intelligent, professional decision. The whole thing really sucks and I feel bad for the fighters who had their fights cut, but it isn’t fair to make Jon the scapegoat.

mr42069 Says, in 9-4-2012 at 12:21:37 from

chael may be a punk, but he’s a punk you are scared of fighting. jones should accept the fight because he’s the champ/

Doyle Brunson Says, in 9-4-2012 at 12:38:39 from

Rugburnbob Says, in 9-4-2012 at 12:49:04 from

Greg the greatest coach, Jon the possible best ever? RIGHT! UFC has had many instant rematches honored and many champions pride themselves on being multi time champions. So what does he have to loose… The mouth game! This guy is boring and does not support the sport or the fans. We like Chael because he has personality, class, and balls! The same reasons we do not like you! Good fighter maybe, chicken ass definately!

JJcanEatAdiq Says, in 9-4-2012 at 12:56:34 from

Jon Jones really is delusional right now. He needs to grow up, man up, and stop being a douche. He preaches this whole Christian bs, yet he keeps saying how he has to think about himself. Jesus didnt think about himself. He thought of others. JJ also keeps talking about not puting his career on the line, yet this decision he made really hurt his career. JJ… get over yourself.

TheKungFuLowKick Says, in 9-4-2012 at 13:02:05 from

I remember over a year ago when I use to think:Wow that guy is the future of the UFC.He’s humble nice and a good martial artist…He’s a great actor that Jon Jones. But the act stopped when he became a champ. His ego was too huge he couldn’t take it that act was too much for him.If from the beginning he would’ve been a loudmouth cocky guy, I would actually like him.But trying to act the complete opposite of what you are and thinking people won’t notice is taking people for retards.

TheKungFuLowKick Says, in 9-4-2012 at 13:04:39 from

If Jon’s ego wasn’t so huge he wouldn’t think this way.Jon only thinks about what happens to Jon.I don’t think the fact that all the other fighters won’t get paid because of his choice even crossed his mind.I mean these guys are not Jon Jones,so why would Jon Jones care about somebody else then Jon Jones.Go cheat on your wife while driving drunk and smash in a pole Mr.Good Christian

thought I was tripping when I heard it too, he did make alot of sense but at the same time he still needed to watch how and what he said–and honestly, if they would have offered Rashad the spot nd he was hungry and in shape he would have taken Jon out this time I feel. The next time he has to face Suga he is NOT going to like it.

Just my opinion.

Drew Says, in 9-4-2012 at 14:05:52 from

He says he trains and studies to the point of obsession and he would be facing a guy who hadn’t earned it, so why would he take the fight? For pride. To smash a guy who was running his mouth, who you say will never be on your level. To save a card.

The kid still doesn’t get it.

DD Says, in 9-4-2012 at 14:08:14 from

Blame UFC, NOT Jones! Says, in 9-4-2012 at 14:39:04 from

You people have to be BLIND and/or RETARDED to blame Jones and Jacksons for all of this s*** especially after hearing this audio. Stop pointing your fat, greasy fingers at this kid. Dana “douche bag” White, Lorenzo Fertida and others are F-U-L-L-Y responsible for the cancellation of the event. There could of been ten ways to fix this stupid s***. Jon Jones is a responsible, educated, respectable champ. He deserves all the praise as he works HARD and makes smart decisions.

1. Chael did not deserve the damn title shot AT ALL in the first place. You dont loose multiple fights in another weight class then shoot up to a title shot regardless of weight change, opponent turndowns or s*** talking.
2. Jones did not know (who the hell would?) that his decision would “ruin” the first event in 11 years. The audio explains it all again, clearly.
3. Jon made a RESPECTABLE decision for his career and his managers. Is that not what a fighter SHOULD DO?!
4. The heat should also be on other fighters who refused to fight Jones, not just him, if anyone… MACHIDA.
5. Where was the miscommunication of Dan being injured WEEKS before all of this? As Jon said… he didnt get injured, Dan did.
5. The UFC is all about their money rather then supporting their fighters. Oh we’ll sponsor you then well s*** all over you when you make a decision we dont like regardless of the MANY MANY favors you’ve done for us. Get the F*** out of here. They point the fingers and make people look bad, people they were supposed to promote and support. Open your eyes people even if you are sour about not seeing the event. Focus on the real issue at hand, not the UFC blindfold.

P.S Someone tweet this to Jon please. =]

lol, this guy is pathetic one excuse after another. I use to respect him, but ducking fights to shape is legacy and maintaining his fight record is sad. Who does Jon Jones think he is to decide who deserves an opportunity to fight for the belt? Dude is talking in circles, and yes we do think you are scared. Jones must be related to Floyd Mayweater or something.

6 days before Jones was offered Sonnen as an alternate opponent he said on the Abe Kanan Show that he would fight Sonnen “in a heartbeat”. Also, in May of ’10 Jones tweeted, “Just to clear the record I’ve never turn down a mma fight against anyone and never will..” The guy is a BS artist, plain and simple. I was a fan before all this but no more.

I totally understand all of Jones’ points and they’re valid concerns etc, but he should have put all of those things aside and taken a chance here. Just be a warrior, gain more fans and be the good guy. He should have just said F*** it, let’s do it old school style. Instead he overanalyzed the situation and mind f***** himself out of it. Now he’s the most disliked fighter out there… and he does care, even if he says he doesn’t. The guy is way to into social networking… HE CARES what everyone thinks about him. I predict he’ll get mental and lose his s***, and get knocked out by VITOR!! I doubt it but I hope…

What about fighters when given a title fight chance would refuse to fight a team mate or friend. Wasted our money. What about the Refs making blatantly wrong calls. Wasted our money. Jones is doing what he thinks is right and if you have been paying to watch the UFC your wasting your money.

I wonder what his relationship to his trainer Mr.Jackson is like after this. After this mess he is in now all he had to offer was,
“i listened to my trainer.”

Well, jon you have the right to disagree. It appears its a father-son relationship rather than a business relationship.

The blame will be passed around but as a long reach fighter he should have seen this as an advantage.

Its a given that chael wasn’t deserving of it yet he was the only one to ask for it. In short time ofcourse they’d give it to him. Ultimately we all want to hear the fighter to have given his stern disagreement with his trainer on this one, sorry jon but you’ll have to live with all the blame.

kill_666 Says, in 9-4-2012 at 16:37:36 from

he didn’t want to put on risk a multi million dollar career, his legacy (psss came on) and being close to Tito Ortiz greatest record, ha! legends are not make just of records, great fighter are make on adversity, they show balls and go to war.
he didn’t want to loose all his legacy but he was not scare?what? wow that’s some really low self esteem to think everything on his world will be gone if he loose 1 fight.
he is convince that if he loose the title he will never can be champion again. wait didn’t Randy Counture was 3 times heavy weight champion and 2 times light heavy weight champion? what about BJ Penn?
he always will be a fighter that was good dropping weight so he could fight on a smaller class.

But he just lost to the Champion ! Then he tries to Fight The Light Heavy Weight Champion ? After Loosing ? Jon is right Chael had nothing to lose, If he lost it would have been a set up. @Blame idiot

1. Jones does not get to pick his fights.
2. What did he think was going to happen when the ONLY main event was canceled because of his weak ass?
3. How is it respectable? He ducked a fighter that he should have been able to beat and cost a lot of other fighters their pay checks. He cost their training partners, coaches, the facility people, and the local businesses as well… not to mention the UFC.
4. Machida would have had to make weight in 8 days. Picking a Middleweight that was willing to fight up was optimal.
5. The UFC is all about money… so what?
5. You don’t know how to count to #6 or tweet.

Now quit washing Jon No Bones Jones balls with your chin.

I guess it’s his right to fight or not to fight, UFC takes the blame for cancelling the card, should have had a better card. Jones should have taken the fight for one reason: he would destroy Chael, and especially at 205. I don’t even think Chael thinks he could have won that fight.

As a champion, you don’t take fights on short notice, thats stupid, thats how you end up not being the champ anymore. How many times have you heard of a fighter losing to someone, who on paper they should’ve easily defeated. He’s the champ. He can’t afford to be that stupid!

Sonnen didn’t earn it. Jones would walk through Sonnen but on the night Sonnen might accidentally get a lucky punch and that would make awful history for Jon Jones.

Why would he put all that on the line for an undeserving loser like Sonnen, so and a bunch of idiot hating mma fans can have a few minutes of entertainment? Yeah, when he retires in a few years, will all the haters here be paying his bills…didn’t think so… Everyone talking about him not having balls, let me tell you, it took balls to stick to Dana.
