I don’t know if Anderson can win to Chris Weidman, I saw Chris being faster than Anderson in striking, and Anderson was knocked out… A fight is a figh… I really dont see Anderson winning this rematch. He’s time as passed. I’m glad I didn’t see Anderson against Jones, because that it would be total devastion problably, despite I give credit that Anderson would be way faster than Jones in the striking department. I also think that Anderson problem might be, he doesn’t have anyone to look up in his camp, it is preety obvious that he is the boss in is camp. A fighter to grow needs someone to look up to, needs a master. Beside the Technique that Steven taught him, I dont see Anderson using another Aikido moves, it’s saying, Anderson game has been the same for some time, there was some improvement in his wrestling, but the M.O it’s the same, despite it’s very dificult to fight him, Anderson has become predictable.

keulniss Says, in 7-14-2013 at 03:51:17 from

@CryHard, there WILL be a rubber match if anderson wins the next fight. That’s what rubber matches are.

T’Challa Says, in 7-14-2013 at 04:13:05 from

Once again it’s on.. just come to fight Anderson, win or lose just go 100%, no clowning this time.

tobes Says, in 7-14-2013 at 06:30:05 from

@ CryHard… even if Anderson finishes Weidman decisively (which I, for one, don’t expect)… how would there then not be a rubber match? Do you even know what a rubber match is?

It’s the conclusion of 3 competitve events in which each competitor already has 1 victory.

Weidman is the current champion. Why wouldn’t he deserve the same rematch that is being given to Anderson? Maybe he would have to fight another fighter in the interim, but there’s not many people at MW who could challenge him save Anderson.

Personally, I think that there will not be a rubber match because Weidman will win the rematch by decision. I predicted a Weidman victory in the first fight, and thought it might come via way of decision. The strike that felled Anderson was not a ‘lucky’ punch. Anderson uses his bravado and recklessness (hands at his side) to intimidate opponents and throw hooks from difficult angles. In this fight, his strategy of intimidating and embarassing his opponent did not work out for him.

Do I think the rematch will be competitive? Certainly. I hope it will be. Do I think that Anderson is going to obliterate Weidman to such a degree that they don’t have a third fight (which would make no sense from a marketing or sporting perspective)? Not for a second.

CrookZ Says, in 7-14-2013 at 07:36:09 from

smells like this was planned new years ufc card anderson silva rematch ….when not even two weeks ago he said he wanted to spend time with his family take 3 months off blah blah….if u guys actually think wideman beat him last time well then u probably think zimmerman really is innocent

Original Fan Says, in 7-14-2013 at 09:52:40 from

I think weidman has all the tools physically and mentally to win again but if silva does win what’s the chance of best 2 out of 3 happening???

wtf Says, in 7-14-2013 at 11:10:16 from

Anderson lost this fight not because of clowning, or a lucky shot. Watch the fight again. Weidman wasn’t scared to bring it. Took him down quick and must’ve done pretty damn well (I even think that he rocked him a few times) because as soon as Anderson got back up he started his games. It’s uber clear that he did not want to go back to the ground with Weidman. Silva played those mind games many times before (Griffin and Bonnar are the best examples). He tried standing with his back against the cage like with Bonnar, but got clipped twice pretty solid which instantly changed his mind about that. He then tried the same thing as he did with Griffin, but unlike Griffin, Weidman kept catching him with some shots and one of those shots dazed Silva just enough so when he followed up he managed to finish the job (also I don’t think that Silva was expecting Weidman to throw the right hand twice and then follow with the left).
Other than leg kicks Silva has not done s***!
I am not being biased here. I really like AS, but I just have enough of Silva fans making excuses. Watch the flippin fight!

KungFuLowKick Says, in 7-14-2013 at 11:11:35 from

Lay off the crack pipe and go back to your stinky basement with your conspiracies. When you get knocked out, you don’t always think staright. This was the most disapointing moment in Andesron’s life ofr almost the last 10 years. He took some time and go offered a contract. BTW December is in more then 3 months so he is taking 3 months off.

dub Says, in 7-14-2013 at 11:52:55 from

Dana and many are saying this rematch will be much bigger than the super-fights ever would have been. that’s just BS. In the remaining fights of Andersons, I will hope that he fights Jones. Sure, people already are counting the GOAT out of winning, but I’ll root for the underdog.

MMA Fan Says, in 7-14-2013 at 12:02:17 from

Silva will lose again. I foresee Weidman with a ground and pound finish next or slick submission via guillotine choke……

MMAGiantSilva Says, in 7-14-2013 at 12:05:35 from

If thats what it takes for Anderson to feel confident I am still confident Chris will be 2-0 against him.

asdf Says, in 7-14-2013 at 12:29:59 from

Im sure this cryhard guy knows what a rubber match is. i think what he’s trying to say is that there won’t be a rubber match because although technically speaking the third fight would be a rubber match if anderson wins the next fight, anderson is going to beat weidman so bad and decisively that there wont be a need for a third fight. I tend to agree lol

Money_talks Says, in 7-14-2013 at 12:41:02 from

partx Says, in 7-14-2013 at 13:46:19 from

Its experience that will win next time. No offense i think Weidman is a great fighter with a lot of potential but really look at who he fought so far. Try to compare who fought so far Silva. I dont know how anyone can think that Weidman is a better striker. And yes Weidman won exactly because Anderson was clowning. How can you watch it in replays and still deny it? This time Silva will be sharp and serious about it. Maybe that loss is what he exactly needed to pump up his ego and ambition for next fight. Of course Weidman has serious chance too but if he is clever he wont try to stand and trade strikes with silva this time.

mrl3 Says, in 7-14-2013 at 14:40:08 from

Back……but maybe a bit too late.

mrl3 Says, in 7-14-2013 at 14:43:41 from

Sure A.S. can knock Chris Weidman out. And…possibly even submitting him. No doubts! But I see Weidman winning 7 out of 10 times. The edge definitely goes to Weidman.

Haters are delusional. They like to hate the best fighters like GSP and Jones and deny their skills. They are the kind to say Jon jones is only good because of his reach and he should fight at HW bla bla bla. They are the same people who believed Sonnen when he was saying Silva sucked.

sooooopernate Says, in 7-14-2013 at 20:06:01 from

Guys, with the damn rubber match s***. He’s saying that Anderson will beat him so decisively, that weidman won’t be granted a rematch. I think the rubber match would happen eventually though even if Weidman gets crushed this time out.

sve Says, in 7-14-2013 at 20:07:54 from

Don’t know if Weidman was playing dumb, but it looked like Silva had him practically hypnotised up until he got careless and lost the fight.

Would hate to see Silva go on some crazy Fedor-like drop in form then retire – so I’ll be cheering for Silva if he fights Weidman again.

Mi Tu Lo Says, in 7-14-2013 at 23:38:38 from

I heard that Anderson after the fight decided to shuffle his training and hired new training partners:
- Sum Ting Wong (Yoga)
- Mi Tu Lo (Acupunture)
- Ho Lee Fuk (Chess)
- Bang Ding Ow (Tai Chi)

sum ting wong Says, in 7-15-2013 at 03:45:10 from

im willing to bet dana said “win the rematch and ill let you fight roy jones jr..” anderson will win, no snapping half ass punches this time.. im seeing anderson a la rich franklin. weidman may be the next reigning mw champ, but not until AS retires. i like weidman, but he doesnt hold a candle in the f***** wind to silva when hes on point. 12-28, pay attention, trust him, hes back

tallandsincere Says, in 7-15-2013 at 08:22:29 from

If Silva wins the rematch there will not be a rubber match as Anderson gets an automatic title shot as he was the champ for so long, of course he gets a rematch.

TheGMan Says, in 7-15-2013 at 12:25:56 from

I thought the first fight was interesting because of the immediate takedown, Weidman’s ability to land some serious shots while holding Silva down, the submission attempt, and Anderson’s ability to get back up. But the most interesting part of the fight was Weidman’s DEFENSIVE speed. If you watch the fight, Silva can’t land a punch because Weidman is too quick. So Silva tried the head games and yes Weidman looked a bit hesitant. But maybe, just maybe, Weidman was waiting for Silva to get really cocky and put himself in a position where Weidman knew he could throw a barrage without any threat of offense from Silva. And that’s how the fight ended.

Near the end of the first round when Silva is saying, “come on, come on, fight” etc. Weidman stops and says, “You’re not doing anything” and as he’s talking Silva throws a quick punch, just like we’ve seen him do in the past, except Weidman dodges it with relative ease. He was NOT caught off guard.

I don’t know what this all means for a rematch with Silva not doing the head games. I think it will be a MUCH tougher fight for Weidman and I think there’s a lot of potential for a rubber match.

Sorry for the lack of brevity…
