KO, submission, or winning rounds. You can make an. Argument on GSP winning the 1st and 3rd rounds. He out pointed Hendricks to win the 3rd. Hendricks steam rolled GSP to win the 2nd and the 4th. I hate the fact that MMA uses boxing 10 point system. If a MMA fighter gets dropped by a strike is it a 10-8 round? I think that judges in mma are so scared to give 10-8 rounds. You can not tell me that GSP win round 3 by the margin that Hendricks won the 2nd round. We really need to figure out proper scoring system. With that said I feel that the fight could have gone either way. Deepened on how u saw the 1st round. I feel that if anyone got robbed of a win it was Will Campuzano. Sergio won because of his last name. Log in to Reply Chicago November 18, 2013 CORRECTION…..Make an argument he won the 3rd and the 5th round….. Sorry using a cellphone to type this out. Log in to Reply Chicago November 18, 2013 CORRECTION #2. 1st and 5th. (in not drunk. Just stupid) Log in to Reply Joe Dog November 18, 2013 @Chicago…Regarding your self-deprecating statement. I agree. Log in to Reply Chewy November 18, 2013 GSP won rounds 1,3&5 in my opinion,Dana can eat a big schlong,so can Johnny who will never be champ! Condit will kill him in a rematch,he robbed NBK! everyone else can STFU! GSP won, that’s it,deal with it you bums! Log in to Reply Benny November 18, 2013 @ chicago-couldn’t agree more with Campuzano fight, that was bogus! And one judge giving the fight to Rory,WTF are they on??? Log in to Reply mma made easy November 18, 2013 Aye to all. 1, 3, 5. 1 & 5 clearly very close rounds, and not won nearly to the level that Johnny won rounds 2 & 3. With a different scoring system the decision would have been different. But then, with different rules, GSP would have knocked him out with knees to a downed opponent 😉 The fact that anyone gave the fight to Rory is hilarious. I was rooting for him, but he looked awful. Log in to Reply Dan Blankenship November 18, 2013 GSP won the fight. Johnny Hendricks needs to quit whining. He said if he could just touch GSP one time, he would win. Obviously not! Log in to Reply brobo1960 November 18, 2013 I think once they sit down and watch the fight again they will see that St Pierre controlled the fight. Yes he was damaged more but if you out strike your opponent for 4.30 mins of the round then in my opinion you win the round. Hendricks fought a lazy fight, thinking he could KO Pierre. Pierre controlled the centre of the octagon, hit him more and had as many takedowns in the fight as Hendricks. Totally dominated the 5th round! I do believe he should have fought the fight more like Condit with hit and run tactics and kept away from the wrestling! Log in to Reply dragoman November 18, 2013 gsp won rounds 1,3 and 5 by a slim margin. hendricks won rounds 2 and 4 decisively. the problem lies with the scoring system. the judges scored this fight correctly. close fight should go to the champ anyways Log in to Reply mmadog November 18, 2013 If there is a rematch…the only thing Hendricks needs to worry is GSP takedowns …everything else is just distractions….we all know his kicks and sissy jabs can’t even put a scratches on Hendriks face after 5 rounds…so the only thing left for him is a takedown…he aint gonna anywhere near pocket and trade shots now that he felt Hendricks power .. He’s got few jabs ,kicks n superman punches but they aint nothing for Hendriks except for takedown disguise…..So if i were Hendricks all i gotta worry about is no matter what GSP does its always gonna end up in a shoot n hump….theres no other way for GSP to fight Hendricks it will be predictable! Hendriks will b ready for that again ! Log in to Reply OscarMayhem November 18, 2013 Well, on the one hand, you have Chewy and axe pittbull, who believe GSP won convincingly (even the round where he forgot where he was). On the other hand you have: Dana White, Pedro Rizzo, Pat Miletich, Carlos Condit, Dan Henderson, George Sotiropoulos, Diego Sanchez, Uriah Faber, John Dodson, Tim Kenedy, Michael Chiesa, Sarah Kaufman, Sara McMann, Cub Swanson, Tony Ferguson, Aaron Simpson, Jamie Varner, Clint Hester, CB Dollaway, Mackens Semerzier, Colton Smith, Vinny Magalhaes, Scott Jorgensen, Ramsey Nijem, Dustin Pague, Derek Brunson, Todd Duffee, Conor Heun, Ryan Bader, Lorenz Larken, James Krause, Danillo Villefort, Brad Tavares, Dennis Bermudez, Darren Elkins, Aaron Riley, Ben Askren etc., who believe otherwise. I don’t know. Chewy does know a lot of stuff, and of those guys above, only a majority are practicing fighters. Seems like a toss up right!? LOL. Log in to Reply Glenn November 18, 2013 For championship fights they need to go back to the old-school boxing days when the fight was over when one guy couldn’t fight anymore. A perfect example of this would be the latest Cain Velasquez vs Junior Dos Santos. Junior was completely spent at the end of the fight, just had absolutely nothing left. Extrapolate the damage that GSP was taking to another round or two and I think Hendricks would have ultimately wore GSP down and won. Log in to Reply yo November 18, 2013 gsp outstruck Hendricks every round he landed more shots he wasn’t the stronger puncher but he landed more so in my opinion that’s clearly a win. sometimes you bleed when you get hit but that don’t mean you lost. Log in to Reply ronmar November 18, 2013 The rounds that GSP won, he won by a small margin. The rounds that Hendricks, he won by a large margin. Yes, GSP had more damage on his face, but that is not an accurate measure. Usually people with fair skin bruise and cut more easily. That was a huge factor in this fight. But, with all things being equal, GSP would probably still see show more damage. If the fight I was to judge the fight as a whole, like in Pride, there would be no question that Hendricks won. One thing I’m surprise that no one mentioned was how Hendricks seem to manhandle him in the clinch. It was almost reminiscent of Ortiz/Shamrock (Ken). Log in to Reply bigFishLittlepond November 18, 2013 GSP lost. Consider this below: Winning on damage still counts in MMA but they changed the name in 2012. It is now called “effective striking” rather than “damage due to striking.” You want to know why? Because the powers that be thought the word “damage” being used over and over again would eventually make the promoters liable and the fighters open to compensation in the future (just type in “mma judging effective damage” and you’ll see an article explaining it at mixedmartialarts) It’s all semantics. According to the ABC unified rules for judging in MMA judges are supposed to score any damage they see under the banner of “effective striking” which in MMA, is the first banner they are to look for. So, not only does damage count in MMA judging, it is the number one thing as it pertains to “effective striking” separate from a KO. Johny won the effective striking based not only on damage but the fact he landed the hard punches more consistently. GSP landed ineffective strikes which gave him higher numbers but no damage. It’s clear who won quit loving on GSP and be honest with yourself. If you were at a party with a bunch of hot girls and you and a guy agreed to go out back and duke it out. If you returned looking like GSP and the other looking like Hendricks who do you think gets laid that night. Log in to Reply Matt November 18, 2013 Fight Metric was tallying up a bunch of Johnny’s whiffing punches, AS USUAL. Freaking useless- how many of Johnny’s punches were air balls and GSP was landing almost everything, a lot of kicks and body kicks. Log in to Reply cranberry November 18, 2013 Judges need to start scoring rounds 10-8 more often. Hendricks won this fight! Log in to Reply 123 November 18, 2013 GSP did not out strike Hendricks in every round. GSP out struck Hendricks in rounds 3 and 5, look at fight metric. Log in to Reply On Tape November 18, 2013 Thanks for posting all the fight Bruno, you da man! I click for you and I hope everyone is doing the same. Log in to Reply OscarMayhem November 18, 2013 Fightmetric scores the win for Hendricks. However, “yo” has pretty good vision in the daylight and is far more experienced at certain stuff than Pat Miletich. http://blog.fightmetric.com/2013/11/st-pierre-vs-hendricks-official-ufc.html Log in to Reply Rugburn November 18, 2013 I have to confess that I was rooting for JH and I thought he won. (He clearly won 2 rounds by more than one point, was the aggressor, put GSP in danger, had more damaging hits, and took the least damage). GSP on the other hand barely won 2 round and scored more insignificant shots. The other round should be thrown out. But I have to take my hat off to GSP for coming back and FINALLY being in a super exciting fight. I never liked GSP’s style but I respect it for he wins and is the Champ. This fight showed me a new GSP. One that could stand and take punishment. Secondly it showed me his championship heart. But at the end a negative side came out of him, one in which he was crying and making excuses. To me it seems like he made that BS up about needing to take time off bc he’s scared of giving a rematch. Log in to Reply #1 November 18, 2013 It was a close fight. GSP won off points. Hendricks should have finished him. Lost the 5th round. Lost the 3rd. First can go either way and went for the champion. Quit bitching there will be a rematch. You people are just like the anderson silva fans who blame his loss off of him clowning too much. Knocked the **** out. Log in to Reply bigFishLittlepond November 18, 2013 #1 – Hendricks beat GSP. The first round wasn’t even close. That’s the fact many of you choose to ignore. Johny won 3 rounds outright, no other way to score it. The judges got it wrong… again. LOL, you probably think Rory deserved that split decision. The judging in MMA is just as corrupt as it is in boxing. The UFC gets to keep making money. Go figure. Log in to Reply drunkentigah November 19, 2013 I like how the network was showing only total strikes instead of significant strikes to make it appear as if GSP was dominating. The majority of his strikes were landed in rounds 3 and 5 and I wouldn’t consider much of his strikes as significant other than a few jabs and a head kick. He was also forced to use a different drug testing lab which, in my opinion, contributed to his unusually smaller appearance. What if he made up the personal drama stuff as an excuse to dodge a rematch? Log in to Reply Gymrat169 November 19, 2013 @bigfishlittlepond! More like bigfishlittle brain! YOU ARE A ****ING RETARD!!! IF YOU BASE DAMAGE ON SCARTISSUE, YOUR JUST SO ****ING UNEDUCATED! I FOR ONE WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE EDUCATED PEOPLE AROUND MMA!!! GSP WON ROUNDS 1,3,&5 END OF STORY, SO STOP ****ING CRYING!!!! Johnny won rounds 2&4! He gave GSP a beating in ONLY those 2 rounds! Johnny false taped on round 1! Why aren’t people saying anything about that??? Rogan knew GSP was going to retire you can tell during the interview!!! He pushed him to say it!!! GSP is Champion more than 7 YEARS leave the man alone!!! He wants a normal life now!!! Don’t be so ****ing selfish in thinking this man (GSP) owns anyone anything!!! Log in to Reply bigFishLittlepond November 20, 2013 gymrat = tryhard So I guess if GSP doesn’t retire then your entire rant is fiction, right? GSP will fight again you’re a retard. Log in to Reply yo November 20, 2013 I have watched the fight 5 times and counted the strikes my self that fight metric counts just about every strike thrown no matter hit or miss just saying watch the fight a few more times, he was pushing forward he was landing more punches period. I really wanted GSP to get knocked out I cant stand his lay and gay style but he won. Not as even a close fight as jones-Gustafson. I did love how Hendricks dominated the clinch tho no lay and gay was a great fight. Hope GSP retires. Log in to Reply bigFishLittlepond November 20, 2013 yo – judging by your logic since GSP threw more strikes he won but GSP had a lot more misses so your saying the judges counted those misses, right? Johny won the effective striking read my post above. Damage counts and rocking a fighter counts. Rounds 2 and 4 are Johny’s no doubt. So you’re basically giving GSP the first round based on one takedown and zero damage. Johny beat GSP up the last 4 minutes of the first round and even got a takedown which he held longer than GSP’s takedown. Let’s say for the sake or argument the takedowns cancel each other out so you have to look at the striking in round one and GSP outright lost the striking battle in round one. In fact, he lost the striking battle in every round but the 3rd round. Johny won that fight all day 3 rounds to 2. And giving GSP 2 rounds is being generous. Log in to Reply OscarMayhem November 21, 2013 yo – You can watch the fight 100 times and the outcome will be the same for you. Don’t you get that? It is time to change your handle. “yo” has lost all credibility on the nets. Ender’s Game reference anyone? Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
