Bonnar vs Silva? Is this a throw a bone to the Brazilian fans? Lop sided win. LOL total UFC Bullshit.

TheKungFuLowKick Says, in 9-13-2012 at 11:05:34 from

Hey Bruno does the cross near Bonnar means he will die after that match??
Talk about putting one of lowest ranked LHW in he whole UFC to fight the best guy of all time.A little mismatch.I remember how Griffin looked like he was in a whole different league then Bonnar. It’s the most ridiculous mismatch ever since Toney vs Couture. It’s starting to look like boxing with the best fighter fighting a guy not even ranked top 20…

Bruno: Means 3 round fight.
I think Bonner has a chance. He did go the distance with Jon Jones. Might put some money on this one.

failsonnen Says, in 9-13-2012 at 11:29:28 from

What the hell is going on? Since when does Bonner fly through the ranks to deserve a title shot? What about Bisping? Stann? Weidman? Belcher? wtf?

Bruno: Not a title shot.. The bout is at 205. That is why I think Bonner has a chance.

Dontgivea Says, in 9-13-2012 at 11:32:02 from

He will try and make it a fight for sure, I don’t see anything else in his favor but his fighting style. Just too slow.

Venomous Says, in 9-13-2012 at 11:37:56 from

I agree with Bruno, Bonnar does indeed have a chance hell any fighter has a chance on any given day. If Bonnar does pull off this upset I wouldn’t be shocked if we witnessed a full fledge riot.

ap Says, in 9-13-2012 at 11:46:20 from

lots of noise about bonnar vs silva.

I gotta say this was totally a payday for bonnar, he has a signifigent spot in Dana’s heart. Too bad for bonnar that he couldn’t cash in with UFC as forrest had. This fight is just a pay day for bonnar- he is hurting for cash and this is his retirment fight as far as cash goes. All main events make 2x what they would if they didn’t headline. Good for bonnar.
Can you imagine if he take silva out with silly ko?

scottc Says, in 9-13-2012 at 11:58:20 from

Bonnar has a chance???A chance at what?To win? Or to just go the distance? This is a glorified sparring session for Silva. You think Joe Silva and Dana are going to risk their p4p greatest UFC fighters record with this crap?Thats why they are having an over the hill Bonnar fight him. What a joke this main event is and a total slap in the face for the top five MW’s who have been fighting their ass off to get a crack at AS!The UFC is having a nervous breakdown from injuries and putting on one show after another.

fan Says, in 9-13-2012 at 12:14:09 from

terrible fights from such a talent pool. When was the last time we had any exciting mega fights?

LastDragon Says, in 9-13-2012 at 12:18:41 from

Bonnar looks like a grown up Kuato in that pic.

MMAGiantSilva Says, in 9-13-2012 at 12:42:29 from

This is a dumb fight in my eyes. Not a big Silva fan but the way he demolished Forrest who is considerably better than Bonnar leads me to believe he has less than a 3% chance of winning this fight. Bonner has a great chin and is a durable fighter but he will be getting beaten to the punch all night. Due to Bonners insistance of having entertaining fights (which I commend him for) he will not implore a strategy similiar to what beat Kingsbury and would give him the best chance here. On the other hand I cant blame you Bruno you will get better than 10 to 1 odds so even if you throw down say 5 bucks you can win a cool 50. However, I think there is less of a chance for the upset than Serra had or even Sokodjou over Nog.

Shaikan Says, in 9-13-2012 at 12:51:25 from

The UFC is becoming a joke nowadays. Bonnar vs Silva? What a mismatch! I’m not excited about this card at all. I’m still in shock they allowed this fight to happen, it makes no sense whatsoever.

NicksBrother Says, in 9-13-2012 at 13:05:06 from

The first two commenters are dipshits. Have you ever even seen Stephan fight, or do you just look at their UFC records as how you pick a fight? I think it’s the latter. My first thought that came to mind was, ‘The unbeaten streak broken by…’ That would be f****** crazy. And he’ll stay in his face and make it a fight, and maybe go for the takedowns that Forrest didn’t. I do have to agree with Dontgivea though, the speed is going to be incredibly different.. He’ll have to smother him the entirety of the fight. F*** it. WAR BONNAR!

AOPrinciple Says, in 9-13-2012 at 13:06:48 from

My jaw dropped when I saw Bonnar’s name. No disrespect, but I peg this fight as Silva: TKO via ass-kicking. Sure, any decent fighter has a chance, but that doesn’t mean I would arrange a fight between Silva and Leben, either.

Rico Suave Says, in 9-13-2012 at 13:08:15 from

It’s not like Anderson walks around at 200-210 lbs & cuts to 185, he walks around at 220-225 & cuts down to 185, I know Bonnar walks around 230-240 & cuts to 205, still a much smaller cut to 205 for Silva, the Burger King T will be a bit tighter on 10/13, but Silva’s speed is too much for the Psycho regardless, but much like any fighter, Bonnar does have a “punchers chance”, that’s all I give him though!

shocktime Says, in 9-13-2012 at 13:38:15 from

@Venomous maybe that’s why they picked Bonnar. It’s alot safer to just giver Anderson a lil feeder fish rather than give him a shark at 205. I think they should of gave him that Glover Teixeira guy or Gustafason, but that’s apparently too much of a challenege for A. Silva.

wow Says, in 9-13-2012 at 14:04:15 from

First, the UFC has done well to present a good card, they the UFC and Dana cannot help fighters getting injured.

Second, Do not write of the American pshyco, he has a granite chin and comes forward….

Thxer Says, in 9-13-2012 at 14:21:54 from

Bonnar’s no slouch, I think he deserves a little more credit than folks are giving him.

kbrew007 Says, in 9-13-2012 at 14:44:07 from

I guess if Mr.Dana White like you..you can get a title shot, i’m sure there’s lots of fighters that deserve that title shot..no dissing on Bonnar i like him actually but he doesn’t deserve a title shot.

jack.perpetual Says, in 9-13-2012 at 14:49:26 from

recockulous match-up, but I’ll be watching!

TheKungFuLowKick Says, in 9-13-2012 at 15:44:06 from

Yeah I read it was just a failed joke attempt :P
I watched every fight Stephan had, just like I watched every single Silva fight and that’s why I’m saying it’s a mismatch. He could MAYBE take Silva down for 3 rounds because Silva will maybe not take this fight seriously and have lesser cardio then usaual or land a Matt Serra style punch.

BamBam Says, in 9-13-2012 at 15:49:38 from

HANDPICKING OPPONENTS AGAIN huh? nothing new here!

cigronne Says, in 9-13-2012 at 15:54:13 from

Bruno, sure Bonnar went the distance against Bones, but it was back in the day when Jones was a rookie, I’m pretty sure nowadays Bones would break him in less than half a round. I personally dig Bonnar’s style and tricks, yet like everyone assumes, I don’t think he deserves fighting Silva at all.

xformat Says, in 9-13-2012 at 17:31:56 from

This fight makes no sense. Oh wait, there’s money involved. Bonner will be paid big money to get KO’d. Thanks, Dana……whatever.

Licks72 Says, in 9-13-2012 at 17:38:52 from

Does Bonnar have a better chin than Leben did when he fought Silva? I don’t think so. Silva is a different kind of striker altogether. Leben never felt a punch like that and I think Bonnar is going to find this out. No disrespect to Bonnar intended. Andy is just that good.

Lando Says, in 9-13-2012 at 17:45:09 from

Bonnar has never won a fight.

boobs Says, in 9-13-2012 at 18:05:05 from

Chris Weidman should have this fight. That’s the only dude to K.O. Silva.

leapingkyle Says, in 9-13-2012 at 18:31:48 from

Stephan Bonnar is a great fighter i dont know why everyone think this is such a mismatch. At the UFC level anyone can beat anyone.

ch1ppz Says, in 9-13-2012 at 18:34:20 from

Bonnar not only is outmatched, but he is a company man… do you really think they will have Anderson lose in Brazil?

Danby Says, in 9-13-2012 at 19:03:13 from

HA HA HA HA! I think anderson can go to the bar before the fight and still win this easily.

mmafan Says, in 9-13-2012 at 19:27:02 from

didn’t they fought already? u know…when bonnar run when he lost..

iWay Says, in 9-13-2012 at 20:13:39 from

all of a sudden Bonnar is up for a title shot? this is a weak card entirely. i can’t imagine any record sales on this one. it feels like the UFC is just shoving events down everyone throats and asking for $55.

WTFson Says, in 9-13-2012 at 20:28:04 from

Look at the whole card, if you have nog, silva , maia, phil davis, glover , maldonado, brandao, erik silva…these guys can fight man and they will bring it that night. Good overall card and when the night ends you’ll be glad they did because its a pretty good patch up.

ericssson Says, in 9-13-2012 at 20:28:52 from

marvelous mad madam mim Says, in 9-13-2012 at 20:41:31 from

bonner can win this for sure. if he can follow the sonnen strategy mixed in with real gnp then he could win. jon jones must feel like a real coward right about now. oh wait my bad of course he doesn’t

Doyle Brunson Says, in 9-13-2012 at 20:46:13 from

The guy who thinks he is better than everyone else Says, in 9-13-2012 at 21:29:26 from

Title shot? Bonner doesn’t deserve a title shot? Who did he beat to earn that? Just joking. I love to watch anderson move up and back up his best pound for pound status. I hate when people say someone is on the pound for pound list and they never have fought in a different weight class. The only fighters that I consider to be ranked on a pound for pound list is:

1. Anderson Silva
2. Dan Henderson
3. Fedor (who fought fighters much heavier than him)
5. Bj Penn
4. Randy the Natural

Gsp and jon jones can take a hike because all the stars have to aligned in their favor for them to fight

Assapopalous420 Says, in 9-13-2012 at 21:41:18 from

bonnar has never been finished and is on a 3 fight win streak. makes about as much sense as jones vs vitor lol. well c what happens.

mma made easy Says, in 9-13-2012 at 21:47:12 from

(also, I believe Chis is in surgery at the moment)

Silva stepped up like he said he would for 151.

Bonnar $tepped up also. Not $ure why. He’ll lo$e as bad as Forre$t did.

Sico Says, in 9-13-2012 at 21:49:30 from

Thanks Doyle!!! But I bet someone will still make a comment not realizing this fact.

So just in case, I’ll just add:

The fight is at light heavy weight (205 lb) and NOT a title shot. Nothing to do with the middle weight (185 lb) title.

KrauseHouse Says, in 9-13-2012 at 22:12:28 from

I love this card. Don’t know why all the fuss. Anderson wants to fight on the card and Bonner is a ready warrior. If Bonner wins i bet you 101 dollars the crowd does not riot but erupts… They love a good fight plain and simple.

MarkNguyen Says, in 9-13-2012 at 22:18:35 from

oooh nooo…watch this become the mma equivilant to Tyson vs Douglas.
Bonnar shouldn’t stand a chance, but watch him pull it off somehow. what were the odds when Tyson lost, 42 to 1?

iWay Says, in 9-13-2012 at 22:57:05 from

the fact that it is not a title shot makes it an even weaker headliner.

TheKungFuLowKick Says, in 9-13-2012 at 23:08:11 from

Pound for pound doesn’t mean somebody who fought in other weightclasses.

The Spider TKO’s Bonnar in round 1, within the first minute, blindfolded. This is like putting a sheep in front of a dinosaur inside the cage. What the f* was Dana thinking? In some way, I’d even prefer to see Silva fighting Chael again for the 67th thousand time. This is as ridiculous.

This goes to anyone complaining about these fights. You’re a bunch of spoiled little punks. Keep your keyboard warrior strength strong! All you do is bitch like the little kids you are because you’re on the computer. Serious, if you don’t like a fight just don’t comment on it. This is a sport, injuries happen, sorry you have nothing else in your life and need to take these fights personally. haha, you’re a f****** joke

screwballhk Says, in 9-14-2012 at 20:44:37 from

lol @ Shogun KO’ing Alex

Are you high? Gustaffson is a more mobile Jon Jones and Jon Jones’ mobility killed Shogun. I think the odds on that fight should be just about on par as the odds on Silva vs. Bonnar.

ThatGuy Says, in 9-14-2012 at 22:35:39 from

The important thing to focus on here is not whether Bonnar “deserves” this or not.

Rather, what the hell is Dana going to do if Bonnar slips that one-in-a-million lucky punch in and KO’s Silva? I personally think this has a .00078% chance of happening.

It does make me think though.
