UFC 139 Shogun vs Hendo Post Fight Press Conference Replay Video.
I actually agree with most of what Dana says, and have a ton of respect for the UFC business model, but the Fox show DID NOT go well. If it did, he wouldn’t have looked so obviously pissed off after the event.
I think it will be part a learning experience, and not the end of the world, but to deny that it could have been much better is just burying your head in the sand.
dana is totally right about the fox fight.
either Shogun should have won or it should have been a draw. After taking that much punishment and coming back, THAT is the heart of a f*cking true champion.
@cuervoplays: the only thing that the UFC did wrong for the Fox show was not show the Guida-Henderson fight. Aside from that, they achieved every goal they had for that event.
Sure, they could’ve cracked 10 million viewers with a lead-in from Bendo-Guida, but it was a one-off deal off the contract. So they GAVE that fight away to Fox. For free. UFC revenue for that fight was the gate.
You’re on crack if you think the UFC gave that fight to Fox free, that’s a huge draw of a fight. They made a deal for it, trust me, you’re an idiot.

Putting everything into one fight that lasted a minute is not a little mistake. You could see how annoyed Dana was about that, and he’s just trying to save face now.
As for their “goals” for the event, I would say the main goal was to draw in more regular fans. Do you think that there are a lot of “new fans” who saw the JDS/Cain fight and are now saying “wow, I have to see more fights like that. That was awesome!”?
i love fuel tv…but i think if he put the whole card on fox it would of been huge. even if the main event went the way it did.
