That was dark… but that was an awesome interview. Nick obviously has some issues, but who the F*** are we to judge the man. He has ALWAYS stepped up… ALWAYS. I for one, hope that he beats the crap out of GSP. I have a feeling though that GSP will try to hump his leg for 5 rounds.

op_of_faith Says, in 10-30-2011 at 12:12:31 from

Ya know…I actually like Diaz but I think he’s a bit of a jackass. He does make some valid points but WHY does Diaz blame GSP and the UFC for losing money spent on him when HE did not show up for his commitments? Diaz supporters?

glassjoe Says, in 10-30-2011 at 12:23:28 from

Nick Diaz will self destruct before his next fight. His self-defeating behavior will catch up to him. It is a shame.

No matter what happens he will never get it.

Genghis Khan Says, in 10-30-2011 at 12:36:50 from

Darn, major public speaking skills required here. Nick needs to join toastmaster, but that aint happening anytime soon. He has a good point about not getting enough money when he fights in these major events. Regardless of what Dana has stated and his explanation of how the profits are divided, i still think UFC fighters are underpaid. Everyone knows it, lots of fighters have complained about this and have been silenced in the process (couture, ortiz etc..)

k9aid Says, in 10-30-2011 at 12:37:35 from

tobes Says, in 10-30-2011 at 12:42:48 from

Dana White doesn’t even know what to say (which is unusual). And the other fighters are annoyed that this jackass gets so much attention. Chael Sonnen and Nick Diaz are two fighters that I LOVE to watch fight but DESPISE their out of ring personalities.

When he just starts going off about how he’s poor and lives in a crappy neighborhood, blah blah blah, I don’t want to hear it. This guy makes hundreds of thousands of dollars a year (deservedly, not saying he doesn’t earn his money, but he’s not poor) and spends half his time looking over his shoulder and thinking people are out to get him.

I guess the reason people are so fascinated with him (and I am too) is because he’s so messed up but also so talented.

He could definitely be diagnosed with something. He’s a weird one.

Axe murderer Says, in 10-30-2011 at 12:54:00 from

Now that he’s made it back to the big show where the money is and he should be impressing Dana he’s doing the opposite. Dana only signed this retard to give the fans the fight they want to see cause I bet you once he loses to GSP he’s gone and then what Diaz. With that attitude and I wouldn’t even call it ghetto attitude no one is going to want you atleast not a big organization that will pay you half way decent money. He should of went to school to learn how to speak. Your not making GSP money nor are you a role model like GSP cause your a f****** moron that can’t get out a single sentence that even make any sense. You know the whole time Dana was looking at this retart he was asking himself why the F*** did I bring this kid back. But with that said the kid can fight its just unfortunate that he’s such a moron.

And again all the haters. Nick Diaz just beat up Penn like nobody has in several years and all you haters talk about is how he is retarded in front of the camera WTF! he`s a f****** fighter not a scholar.

MMA Fan Says, in 10-30-2011 at 12:57:34 from

Diaz has very good MMA fighting skills but he is nowhere near GSP’s. GSP is a brilliant fighter who always try to reinvent himself based on his opponent skills. We tought GSP would have tried to beat Koscheck on the ground but he beat the s… out of him standing up. This is only one example to show that whatever GSP haters might say, GSP is the real deal and Diaz will be another victim.
Go GSP Go! Beat that dumb a..!

not anonymous Says, in 10-30-2011 at 12:58:08 from

I’m not making excuses for Diaz, but he’s obviously not a businessman. He probably pays everyone in his camp from his own pocket and doesn’t know how to keep things budgeted. Remember that he is a brawler that takes a ton of damage with no concern about his face/brain. It takes a ton of balls to do that 3 or 4 times a year, now do you expect a guy like that to be a genius, or even give a s*** about conferences when he obviously doesn’t even care about his own safety?

fightdontbefake Says, in 10-30-2011 at 13:57:54 from

most of you dont get diaz. first off, he trains long distance (endurance), for all you that have never ran more then 20 miles in your life, you have no idea what this does to your body or the amount of time you need to recover, he truly is a different cat when it comes to training. he does bottle things up though, and then they come out at times like this when the media puts it on him. he is my favorite fighter, and i like his personality, he tells it how it is.

also, he could be making more money doing boxing, he turned down boxing offers for this and would have made more money doing that, he just really likes mma, and obviously cares about being the best. not only did he confirm this, but so did cesear gracie. before you bash him you need know all the facts, dont come on here saying he is an asshole or retard because he doesnt do the same s*** as everyone else, he is different, has more talent then just mma and is probably the most gifted/talented athlete in the ufc. not only does he fight, he could compete in boxing (with large promotions), and he does triathlons.

People on here hate and talk trash about him being retarded in front of the camera but in the same sentence are spelling “you are”, “your”. Learn your grammar before you dis his speaking skills. 4. Is angry, hungry, and reckless
5. Has never been finished in any fight
6. Is always fighting on a full tank of gas
7. Is a captivating speaker
8. Is a glutton for punishment
9. Has taunted every opponent in recent memory
10. Has a brother named Nate, who is just like him

GSP is going to have a well-thought out gameplan for this fight…No way GSP loses this fight…By the way, i think Condit and Diaz would make a great fight. I’m not sure what to say, there really is no one else like Nick Diaz, what a fighter. A true warrior in every sense of the word. Clearly the man has a troubled past. Despite him being a GREAT fighter he has absolutely no class and no education. If his last name wasnt Diaz I would label him as a white trash bum who fights for a living. GSP will take him down and pound him for 5 rounds. Yall can hate on that, that’s fine. I admit it’s not the most exciting thing like the Diaz fights but I love to watch it because GSP is from my neighborhood here in Montreal and I love to watch a guy from my hood beat up everyone of the toughest fighter the world has.

The top tier fighters in MMA make their share of money through fight purses, sponsorships, endorsements, promotion, speaking, training, etc. So don’t cry me a river Diaz that you are not smart enough to sell your house and move to a better area. What a friggin CRY BABY!!

Honestly…i’m kind of annoyed that they’re taking the title fight away from Condit. Condit did everything he was supposed to do, and now he’s getting shelved for Diaz. I think Condit is a much more compelling match-up for GSP. Diaz has ALWAYS shown weakness to strong wrestlers, he’s going to get wrestle f*cked for 5 rounds and go home and complain on the internet about how GSP didn’t want to fight him.

I can’t say this enough Diaz has been dominating OUTSIDE the UFC, he almost go KO’d by Daily, and that guy never got anywhere NEAR a title shot. Sure Diaz has improved since his last bid in the UFC, but do you guys really think he could take Condit? Or Kozcehck? I don’t.

You make some good points. I train in a lot of different modalities-from MMA to sprinting to rock climbing. I have also worked with a LOT of Triathletes (I’m a Personal Trainer).

My issue with Diaz is his BLATANT disregard for the people around him and bizarre love for them. Remember- CAESAR GRACIE wasn’t happy with how Diaz acted. He f***** up a lot of people’s money and time by ducking, disappearing and not handling the press conference which WAS his responsibility. For all of you who say “who cares”, donate $9,000 to charity. This is what the UFC lost in plane tickets and accommodations for Diaz. THAT’S why it matters. Diaz doesn’t seem to care or accept any responsibility for his actions…

THIS is business. I hope the Diaz brothers do well but NO ONE in their right mind would claim that they aren’t a lot of work to deal with, as is Rampage, as is Chael (lying, cheating jackass) Sonnen. That is just a fact.

Tempted Says, in 10-30-2011 at 18:32:05 from

I hate this guy when he talks OUTSIDE of the cage. Inside he is one of my favorite fighters. He shows up to entertain and fight. Win, lose or draw he gave it 110% and didn’t bitch out last minute, ahem(Tito, GSP, both more than once), because of an “injury”. Nick would fight on one leg while one arm is broke and one eye is shut. His fighting ability earned the title shot a year ago, not his press comments. Leave the guy alone, let him train and enjoy his fights. Hell, with interviews like that why would Dana if want him to talk???!!! The real bitch is GSP who I guarentee had more say so than Dana in ducking Diaz. And then he bitches out against Condit. If Diaz loses to GSP it will be 5 rounds of humping and no entertaining stand up. If he wins it will be via finish, probably George asking his corner to throw in the towel between rounds 3 and 4 so it looks like a corner stoppage and not GSP tapping. Corner stoppages are tapping to strikes 90% of the time, the fighter just doesn’t want it to look that way. I am guessing GSP has a 70% chance of winning, and if he does win it is 100% chance of lay and hump.

I’m not interested in all the type about the press conference. I think that was a great fight. Can’t wait to see Diaz prove everyone wrong against GSP. Everyone says GSP is on another level but I don’t see it. He is at the very top level. But Diaz is the better boxer, better BJJ and full tank of gas always. GSP is definately more athletic in the cage and better wrestler/takedowns but I think Diaz will work him on the ground. Does GSP think he can play with Diaz’ BJJ. I guess I see a different fight than most. If GSP says he is going to beat on Diaz like no one else, he is just reacting to anger toward Diaz. I don’t think he can back it up. What do you guys think? Joseph Says, in 10-31-2011 at 03:27:09 from

The only thing awkward about this post-fight press conference (or should I say Nick Diaz interview) is how Dana White abruptly cut it short. I would’ve liked to see some questions toward the other fighters, but apparently Dana White doesn’t like it when a fighter actually speaks his mind and gives honest answers.

Joseph Says, in 10-31-2011 at 03:30:34 from

My guess is the real reason on why Nick Diaz didn’t show up to the press conference(s) he missed is because Dana White or the UFC tried to coach him on how to answer these questions, and the compromise Nick Diaz decided to make was to go but to speak his mind anyway. He was able to keep it shut in the pre-fight conference, but obviously not this one which upset Dana White regardless of how much the fans might enjoy it.

Guys like Sonnen, Rampage, and Diaz tell it how they see it without any fear or intimidation from Dana. This is the FIGHT GAME not a college debate.
The UFC monopoly of MMA is bad for the fighters, and they are not paid enough in my book. I’d pay to see Diaz over GSP, because he comes to fight, and not hump to victory.

“””I can’t say this enough Diaz has been dominating OUTSIDE the UFC, he almost go KO’d by Daily, and that guy never got anywhere NEAR a title shot. Sure Diaz has improved since his last bid in the UFC, but do you guys really think he could take Condit? Or Kozcehck? I don’t.”””

If Daily beat Koscheck, he would have faced GSP on TUF and had a title fight. He was so pissed at his lost opportunity (and the shitty way Josh took it) that he suckered Josh after the fight and got canned from the UFC. I’d say that was pretty darn NEAR to a title shot. (yes, I think he can beat all three of those guys)

Sorry for the grammer and spelling but I’m running out the door typing.

couldn’t have said it any better. i agree with this 100%. watching and studying gsp’s last performance we obviously see many holes in his game. he stood toe to toe with shields (playing into shields weakness, that is his stand up) and pulled off a lousy decision, and he ended up with a black eye and all, as shields actually did some damage to him. gsp will obviously try to gnp him all 5 rounds, no doubt about it, however, i agree that he is over looking nicks bjj. nick needs to spend time on his takedown defense and defense off of his back. gsp will use faints to try and take nick down, but i dont think gsp will be very successful, due to nicks crazy pace and accurate punches in bunches. i see nick beating gsp in this fight, not in the early rounds, but near the later rounds. nick is the better fighter.

fightdontbefake Says, in 10-31-2011 at 18:18:40 from

not only that i believe gsp is peaking, look at his last 4 fights, all decision wins…does this tell you anything?

willienugget Says, in 10-31-2011 at 20:35:47 from

There were questions directed to other fighters, just none after Nick showed up. By the time he arrived, the press was done with the others and pretty much waiting on Nick. Apparantly Cesar said something too, prompting Dana to talk about missed flights as well.

It was kinda funny seeing Dana squirm while he’s getting what he asked for. Play that game Nick!

@sunfish daley fought kos for title shot and daley can stand and knock anyone out but diaz, u obviously a nub. also condit was going to get wrestlefucked whereas diaz has sick bottom bjj skills. GSP will not be able to take those shots like penn did.

i love how Diaz exposes mma for what it is . they want him at a press confrence now they got it and dw is butt hurt because he is not a robot .that is why he is the most magnetic guy in the sport, he is real and that is why 86 people comment on his press confrence .

More than anything Nick could use some help with working out some of his personal issues. I genuinely feel bad for him as I think he’s a great fighter but he’s stuck in such a negative mind frame. The fact that he’s not good in front of the cameras is irrelevant to his profession; he’s a fighter not an actor.

LOl he is like running out of words…. and its funny how at the end he was saying Im no there shaking hand and all that bs and Roy Nelson face was like…. ( i just shake your hand)….

All you pussies commenting about his social skills, hes a fighter shut the F*** up and comment on that.

Diaz made it pretty clear he doesn’t want to train or pal around with any potential opponents. I think he’s safe accepting congratulations from Nelson for getting a title shot.

I actually think Nick has some pretty good takedown defense but I believe GSP can take anyone down. It won’t matter if Nick trains only that for his whole training camp. He’s going to be taken down. Diaz’ opening comes if GSP actually tries to hurt Nick. A calm, cool GSP probably beats Diaz.

If Georges truly intends to put a beating on Nick, he’s going to have to take one in return. I really don’t think he can last in a fight like that.

nick doesnt have to prove nothin to dana by saying what he wants to hear. dana is a monopolizing leech that has tried to kill all other mma outside of ufc. ufc is not the entire sport of mma and i hate his vince mcmahon attitude. as for what diaz said, right the F*** on. mayweather barely fights every 3yrs and makes more money in one fight than he has in a lifetime of grinding hard fights every 2 months. look at mayweathers last fight, he knocked the guy out while they were hugging and the guy was apologizing. complete asshole and no class but hes rich as F*** because for some strange reason a sport thats been dead for about 12yrs still pays more than the biggest sport in the world. truthfully they need a fighters union. period

Being true to yourself and speaking your mind…

I used to not enjoy the publicized Diaz, but I like the man ….

He is real, he does not care. RESPECT.

Dont get me wrong, but I am a true fan of GSP, but George will have to bring all his game up on fight night.

I’m sure he will, but …. that might be quite a fun fight to enjoy.

Nick needs a mentor, and not someone that can only look at him and see $$ signs, or a way to stoke their own ego. He grew up unhappy, and has carried it into adult life. In some ways this is Tysonesque.. Sad, but true. In the end he win/lose he’s a tough m’fkr, and no one can take that from him.

HURRICANE Says, in 11-3-2011 at 11:45:34 from

Nick mentioned that BJ should train with him at his school like BJ has in the past and drop back down to 155. I think that would workout great for BJ because when the Diaz brothers helped out BJ for the KenFlo fight, BJ looked in tremendous shape and he was truly on top of his game then. The Diaz bros and Cesar Gracie them really got a top of the line fight team and great trainers and fighters. BJ should not retire yet, he should take Nicks advice and train with him, he needs to go out with a bang and I think training with Nick and going back to 155 to make a last dezprate run before.calling it quits is way better option then retiring after Nick messed him up. Whats your guy s opinion on BJ training with Nick again?? Bruno??
