Machida is a great fighter don’t get me wrong, but I think its amazing how underrated Shogun is going into this fight. This might also be due to the fact that a lot of MMA fans are new to the sport and have never watched pride…
To me, I think both have very good chances of winning.

Love Machida’s suit. Shogun is a GREAT fighter and a complete bad @$$, but the elusive style of Machida gives everyone problems. If i had to give it a percentage i would go 65% for Machida and 35% for Shogun.

i think, that shogun is maybe the best opponent in the lhw. if machida beats him…..a long time he will be the champ. jon jones could be someone interesting in one year or so….but before he has to fight some guys from the top 10. dan henderson is someone who could be difficult too, because he is a wrestler and machida is a stand up fighter.

I will say that this is going to be the BEST and healthiest shogun we will see in a while. And the 4-1 underdog their putting him at is SO unfair.

i agree fyodor i think shogun is way underated. but even if you have seen shogun destroy people in pride its hard to go against a guy undefeated after fighting people like franklin,(over weight) bj penn, bonnar, tito, etc. gonna be a great fight tho i’m stoked

Shogun was amazing in pride!!! i hope the same shogun comes back this fight. Machida is heavy favourite to win, but shogun is a good underdog.

I believe the only guy able to defeat Lyoto is Belfort. Even though I’d pick Lyoto anyways.

Machida, Shogun (back in shape), Jon Jones, Belfort… When it started to look like we saw it all in the weight class, you have a completely “new” stack of ubelievable fighters.
Add Wanderley Silva, Thiago Silva, Rashad Evans, Rampage, Hendo, and even Anderson Silva (just to name a few) and you have a weight class that cannot be compared by any other in history!
Between Machida and Shogun, I think Machida wins, but if Shogun comes as strong as he came against Lidell, we might be in for a surprise.
