Log in to Reply oaklandblackouts February 10, 2012 i feel like i’m 14 again! thanks for the post bruno. i remember watchin this with my cuz the first time it aired ..we were so hyped for this event. you can imagine the perception at that time when we were watching movies like bloodsport…thinking the 1st ufc was going to be something like that w/ the different disciplines going head to head. it really is a trip to see the beginnings of mma to the mma we see now. Log in to Reply leroy February 10, 2012 Bill Wallace sucks! Log in to Reply Dave February 10, 2012 ahahhaha lol at the Kevin rosier’s shorts! he has his shorts all the way up to his chest 😀 that really made me laugh, very old school. Log in to Reply 1ce1ce baby February 10, 2012 back to the roots!! Log in to Reply Elvislad February 10, 2012 Wow insane early days Log in to Reply Dave February 10, 2012 I found some of the people in the crowed so disrespectful when they booed Helio gracie besides being a legend they should have respected the fact he was an older person. I can’t stand people that boo fighters. amazing how a 170lb Gracie went through heavy weight guys like nothing. what an amazing moment for the gracie family right there the start of their recognition by others Log in to Reply cigronne February 10, 2012 From head to toe it was so improvised and random-looking -the commentator burping at min 1.30- Thanks Bruno Log in to Reply jake February 10, 2012 Awesome! I don’t think I ever saw the other fights other than Royce. Now post number 2! lol Log in to Reply wow February 10, 2012 Looking back at how it all started makes me chuckle, i have all the old ones in my UFC box set and they just dont look right at all.. but it had to start somewhere. Log in to Reply chatafup February 11, 2012 sahmrock had the eye of the tiger back then. gracie had the eye of a bigger tiger. Log in to Reply mmafan11 February 11, 2012 Kimura broke Helio’s arm and shoulder so Judoka vs BJJ the beast of a Judoka won. Jones choked out a BJJ Black Belt. Royce was great back in the day but sports evolved gone past just BJJ. Log in to Reply steamer February 11, 2012 1993. I was 12 yrs old. My parents rented it on PPV for me and me buddy Ryan (we were both wrestlers, I also trained Karate)1 and they headed to the bar. Me and Ryan had no idea what we were watching. I saw a tooth fly out of the ring. We kept thinking where are the ninjas? A lot has changed since then. Ryan lost his mind on roids, killed a whole family and wound up in prison. I’m getting old and focusing on my career. Log in to Reply Nora Penefrin February 12, 2012 that dude who came in with one boxing glove and then joined the quick-tap club. Log in to Reply jointlocker February 12, 2012 I was so hyped for this event. I bought every issue of Black Belt magazine up until that point for years, having studied Karate, Tae Kwon Do and wrestling. They did a huge article with fighter Bios. It was great! Finally, the event occurred and it was a real treat to see Bill “Superfoot” Wallace and Kathy Long commentate. They were legends at the time. In retrospect their commentating left something to be desired but again there was no blueprint. UFC 2 was one of my favorites. Some of the bouts never made the PPV which I’ve always wanted to see. Bruno, anyway to see Orlando Weit’s entire bout vs the kickboxer when he won with downward elbow strikes to the back of the head?
