Everyone is sounding suprised at his debut. Dont forget spong has been one of the top k1 fighters in the world for years he knows what he is doing when in comes to stand up. Wrestling will be interesting to see these k1 fighters normally come in with amazing standup but then someone decides to make a really boring fight but cuddling them for three rounds and not even getting a sub.

i think this kind of scenario is actually somewhat frequent. Bartlett might actually be a much better boxer than this fight gave space for, but the combination of Spong’s early headkick n his excellent movement n creativity confused Bartlett, so he froze. It was a little like what happened when Jon Jones fought Rampage. Rampage was confounded by Bones’ creativity n couldn’t make a move. It’ll be exciting to see Spong’s MMA career unfold, because wrestling every day with Rashad Evans is almost guaranteed to cultivate a badass wrestler… Hopefully Rashad doesn’t have to lose any more friends in the UFC title hunt when Spong red rovers.

AJ and Spong both fought lops. AJ should fight Sponge and the winner goes on to better things because on this card, these two studs fought soft ass punching bags.

Spong actually fought overeem in k1 and almost won. Overeem was just too big for the guy. So with the alot of training with rumble johnson he could be a wrecking machine.

^ TRUTH, And they say hes a “boxer”, but what real boxing skills has he shown? Keeps his lands down, doesn’t throw many punches at all, he maybe threw more than 1 punch once, and maybe 2 punches with his dominant hand. The dude was their to lose!

1. Why did Bartlett take the fight.

2. Why is it legal for one guy to be AMAZING at striking, and get paired up with another guy who knows no ground game, only boxing, and hasn’t won s*** in boxing.
