That was impressive and unimpressive at the same time.Tyrone did look good,but he looked good in a kickboxing match with Ma gloves.The guy never even thought about getting Spong to the ground.It’s like starting a fight vs Maia and you pull guard the second the fight starts,dumb strategy.

I saw somewhere that Tyrone said he “forgot” to finish the fight after the first knock down.
Well, nobody doubts his ability to whoop anyone’s ass striking. I want to see him against someone with a sick ground game and see if he can survive. If he can, that’s a scary prospect in the division.

Spong looked like he was nervous. His stand-up usually looks a lot smoother. Just needs some more time, though.
Oh man how’d that happen?? Oh wait one of the best kickboxers in the world fought an old slow junker, who didn’t even try to take him down.
So the MMA ‘experts’ have spoken yet again. Just like they said JDS could never become UFC HW champion cause he hasn’t shown any ‘ground-game’, and JDS was supposed to lose to Cain as Cain has awesome wrestling. Same thing with Ubereem, he was supposed to lose to Lesnar, what happened there guys?? And now, it’s Tyrone turn. You can’t say he will lose to a wrestler/grappler until he fights one, and i tell you now it won’t be easy to take this guy down. He is a massive strong light HW, all he has to do is like what JDS has been doing and use his awesome striking and take-down defence to get the W. This was a spetacular MMA debut.
tyron’s camp is with some of the best mma wrestlers. This guy will be a force to be dealt with.

Zack, it works both ways. Melvin Manhoef is a great example of a world champion quality kickboxer that gets demolished as soon as it hits the ground.. All depends on how Spong adapts

if his wrestling and jits comes up hes gonna be a force at 205 i think he has 3 more fights on his WSOF contract tho lets see him with a better grappler next time and start building that game more. if Jones is still at 205 in 2 or 3 yrs that could be a sick fight

Bartlett = Boxer (that no one has ever seen)
1. Why did Bartlett take the fight.
2. Why is it legal for one guy to be AMAZING at striking, and get paired up with another guy who knows no ground game, only boxing, and hasn’t won s*** in boxing.
^ TRUTH, And they say hes a “boxer”, but what real boxing skills has he shown? Keeps his lands down, doesn’t throw many punches at all, he maybe threw more than 1 punch once, and maybe 2 punches with his dominant hand. The dude was their to lose!
Tyrone Spong in the 205 division that’s interesting, 2 or 3 more fights like this then to the UFC.
Spong actually fought overeem in k1 and almost won. Overeem was just too big for the guy. So with the alot of training with rumble johnson he could be a wrecking machine.
AJ and Spong both fought lops. AJ should fight Sponge and the winner goes on to better things because on this card, these two studs fought soft ass punching bags.

i think this kind of scenario is actually somewhat frequent. Bartlett might actually be a much better boxer than this fight gave space for, but the combination of Spong’s early headkick n his excellent movement n creativity confused Bartlett, so he froze. It was a little like what happened when Jon Jones fought Rampage. Rampage was confounded by Bones’ creativity n couldn’t make a move. It’ll be exciting to see Spong’s MMA career unfold, because wrestling every day with Rashad Evans is almost guaranteed to cultivate a badass wrestler… Hopefully Rashad doesn’t have to lose any more friends in the UFC title hunt when Spong red rovers.

Everyone is sounding suprised at his debut. Dont forget spong has been one of the top k1 fighters in the world for years he knows what he is doing when in comes to stand up. Wrestling will be interesting to see these k1 fighters normally come in with amazing standup but then someone decides to make a really boring fight but cuddling them for three rounds and not even getting a sub.
too bad spong is more like a spongy porous butt that sifts poop in and out like a farting boner.
