I gave it to the stumpy mexican for actually throwing punches that somewhat landed, as opposed to Spong’s leg kicks that really didnt effect DeAnda’s punching or aggression too greatly. Spong played it safe with the hands cause he didnt wanna take the chance of getting knocked out by “cage fighter”. f***** hate when i know fights could be way better but end up being lackluster because dudes just wanna get a W.

spong went on video saying he wants to go down in history as the best boxer , kickboxer and mma fighter. big words. i like this guy but he has no head movement and i seriously doubt his coaches make him watch fight video. i thought hed put this guy away easily. the leg kicks are great but hell need a helluva lot more than that if he wants to win a belt. especially if he hits the ufc. that 205 division would eat him up.

How the H? Dang, and wow, still standing. On a different topic, that video looked like it was in fast motion to me. Anyone else think so? Maybe just a small amount but everything seemed faster.

There are many things I love seeing in an MMA fight, but this fight presented perfect examples of a few of them. I love to see the one who loses keep composure n keep bringing the fight even when they’re outclassed in a grueling battle. And I love to see them clap for the winner as a final show of respect. Spong’s kick-boxing is excellent, but there are a few things I’d really like to see him work on. He becomes (or at least this is what it looks like to me) overly fixated on extremely aggressive power shots and forgets to give them some real setup. If he could learn to let out some kind of Diaz brothers Stockton-slap pitter-patter n punctuate it with the extremely explosive shots, he could really be among the very best out there. I know that he’s won championships in kickboxing, but part of what is so impressive is that he is still evolving. Those leg kicks are brutal too, but Bas Rutten was right. If he had used them to eventually open up the high kicks, we might have seen a brutal finish. Still an awesome fight though.

Angel DeAnda is amazing…how did he take all those leg kicks and still standing…. A true fighter with a great spirit.

Thought he would have put that little guy away. But the styles didn’t go very well together. That little mexican was tough!

Deanda raised his stock far more than Spong with this fight.
