I love pat, extremely powerful and dynamic, but i just cant help but feel at 5’11 hes just too small for HW,
I cant even list a middleweight fighter that is his size

@ultimate fighter people like you keep saying that and pat keeps proving you wrong.Why is it so hard to wrap your head around a shorter stocky HW?There have been plenty that were/are destroyers.You are just getting caught up in what most others say,use your own brain.Its more about the person then about the size.There are smaller guys who can compete at higher weights and then there are some that cannot.

Barry is ALOT bigger then any MW in the UFC.He could be a LHW if he would diet a cut around 20-25 pounds.He’s got a little bit of flab but I can’t see him make 185 with the size of his legs and shoulders.

I have no problem with his size. That’s most likely not going to specifically win you a fight or Struve would be champ and he got knocked out cold by Nelson. The thing with Barry is simply the other aspects of his game will keep him from being champ because his strongest aspect isn’t strong enough that i can negate his drawbacks.

I also want to say that making people feel like a champion crap is bull crap, if that was the case we’d all be champions and we’re not, there’s only one. Say crap like that makes people think they don’t need skill or hard work or intelligence. Please. Those things are very convenient to say when your guy wins. I bet a lot of the guys who lost to GSP or AS woke up feeling great and felt like a champion all week…

he carrys alot of weight in his legs… He could make 205 and really be ripped and lean… I think the guys at 205 are a bit more techinal than him. I’d love to see him fight frank mir next.

The only reason Barry won is because he finally fought “a HW” (more like a flabby 205er) who was even smaller than him for once and then he started yelling “they said I was too small” after the fight like proved them wrong lol

I dont mean to dismiss Pat’s ability to compete at HW, I just meant for someone of his size, cutting would not be as much of an issue. @powertele your right about hunt (fedor realistically is a chubby middleweight), but its precisely those kinda fighters that could seriously hurt pat, whereas at LHW, he has to worry less about opponents punching power, but force everyone else to deal with unique speed and strength. I honestly feel at LHW he would be the best striker, and would pose serious problems to anyone in that division.

All great opinions guys, but the reason 205LHW is the best option to potential challenge whoever is champ at the time is 1. It is a fixed weight 206 non title 205 title. No matter how tall, short ,fat, arm reach, leg reach, and style of fighting you will have to weigh nearly identical to your opponent. Fighting at HW is open weight between 206.01 and 266.00 I believe. When you fall somewhere in between these most likely 225-245, a fighter’s style, technique, and durability account for much more, because strategically some techniques become unusable.
