Johnson did get choked out by Clementi, but that was a catch weight fight, where Johnson fought on short notice I believe. He weighed in at 165.. and look at him. HE IS HUGE for 170, especially at 6′2″. He was likely out of his element when fighting Clementi(i haven’t followed johnson enough to claim any of these, but they are just thoughs). Johnson looked real good in this fight though.

Tommy Speer has one of the toughest heads in the game (which is good, because he doesn’t keep his hands up). Johnson had to lay it all on him, but he chopped down that tree pretty hard. Feel kinda bad for Speer, he’s just not well-rounded enough to get by in this sport, at least not on this level.

Anthony Johnson is no joke at 170. I don’t think people realize how imposing he truly is. He has a similar skill set as Chuck Liddell does. He has a wrestling background with a great sprawl that will keep him up standing where he can unleash his vicious punching power coupled with dynamite hand speed and kicks that are very devastating. He’s 6′2″ and has a 78″ reach. I don’t think people realize how monstrous that is for 170 in the UFC. When Johnson got choked out by Clementi, it came at a Catchweight of 177. Anyone who saw that fight knows that Johnson did not get dominated until he started gassing due to his having to cut so much weight before the fight. Johnson took his first two fights in the UFC on short notice, I believe. The guy is an animal for anyone to face at 170. I think he’d knock out St. Pierre without too much problem to be honest about it.

Now to comment on just anthony johnson.It should have been knockout of the night by far!! U look at the technique and the pure barbaric nature of the ko and that was a work of fuckin’ art. It was not only a prelim, but it opened the night. You have everything in this division except a one punch knockout striker. GSP is the total package, but he is not going to dominate like an Anderson Silva or possible Rampage. Johnson is definately a more seasond striker then Houston..Houston has pure muscle behind his striking, making good for KO’s but not precision. Johnson’s striking was all about aiming and hitting the target. Therefore, resulting in 2 nice wins. I know the picture is looking similar to Houston’s steak but its not fair to say that Johnson’s career is going to be the same as Alexanders. Johnson definately has a shot at being a top contender, but not a Champion, yet!

Tommy Speers wasn’t even a top rated competitor, his striking is 3 rate, those takedown attempts were 2nd rate, and it shows why Mac Danzig had such an easy time winning the show, not to take anything away from AJ, he disposed him like a true fighter who deserves to b in the UFC, Tommy really has a long way to go, and should b fighting in smaller organizations until he reaches there, never the less i still think its too early to tell where Anthony Johnson stands at this point in the division, but his stocks definatly went up in my book, and would love to c him fight kosheck, Karo or another top competitor
