Okay well putting aside it was Randy’s debut pro fight, hats off to Tom! He out grinded and had more heart than a young man in his twenties and tom is what like 42?! Very impressed with Tom’s recovery and ability to take some licks and he dealt good damage! Was definately not expecting this to be the most exciting fight on the card but to me it was for sure. I know there will be haters on Tom but i mean the guy really is just stepping in the cage for love of the sport and to experience it, and at his age and going 2-0 regardless of his opponents I have gained respect for him.

Wow all the respect in the world for someone getting in the cage and fighting mma. Great stuff for Atencio, I really thought he was just a promoter but he did a great job.

Randy gave up as soon as he got to the corner. He says something like “im done” and he quit at that point.

not a very impressive win against a no one. Tom is a great guy but it would be hard to train from a guy knowing they have never had any competition. Its like fantasy fighting. Instructing how something should go down without ever experiencing first hand. Easier said then done as shown. I would rather train from a guy like nog who you know could whip your ass. It is less credible and harder to respect and listen to your instructor knowing its all bull shit because you would destroy them

Tom Atencio looks better at 42 than Ken Shamrock did. TA is a pretty exciting fighter, but he takes too much damage for being an over 40 dude. I wonder if TA will have trouble finding his next fight.

Atencio impressed me. At 42 and running several businesses, it’s amazing to see him get out there and display that type of commitment and desire. Very cool!

Wow, i did not expect to be this impressed by Atencio. I know this wasn’t a professional opponent, but Atencio did a great job and had a great display of skills. He survived that first round after being rocked BAD, a lot of guys would’ve lost composure and lost the fight. He had a VERY strong second round with good takedowns, striking and sprawl. His conditioning was VERY good for a 42 year old amateur. He seems like a different person to the one you see in the Affliction press conferences.

I don’t care what anyone says; I was very impressed with Tom! I began watching this fight with no knowledge of his MMA abilities, other than knowing he had like one fight or so previously, and after the fight was stopped (and even before that) I was respecting him!

Think about it: this guy is 42 years old, only had 1 or 2 fights, and he looks better than a lot of the guys who come on TUF who not only have slightly more experience but are also 10-20 years younger than Tom.

Lastly, the guy has more heart than most! The fact that he is even getting into the cage considering his circumstances is remarkable, but more so, he can take a beating and then come back to give one. I don’t care what Dana White thinks about this guy personally, but I better not ever hear him criticizing or questioning Tom’s MMA abilities or decision to fight. I believe without a doubt that Tom would put a beaten on DW.

i was impressed by his cardio. that younger guy was gassing yet tom was still going strong. that was impressive. this guy loves this sport and can do some real good things for it.

A pretty good fight. As a casual fan of MMA, I thought that was pretty dam good. I’m 42 and could never do that…but then again, I do play ice hockey, so that counts for something.
