Tito Ortiz is the biggest asshole in MMA, I cant wait till somebody gives him severe brain damage. The comments that he has made in the past, his contradictions over the years. he is an Idiot. It’s a basic business model; conflict and controversy sells. Ortiz and Dana both know it, and are willing to exploit it to sell PPV and tickets. Focusing on the fight; Machida does have a 12-0 record, but look at who he’s recently faced in the UFC; with the exception of David Heath, who lost his last 3 fights, the others were making their UFC debut (what happened to Hoger by the way). Moreover, Machida is a karate fighter by nature. He’s been training MMA since 17 which gives him a good 12 years of some ground work, and he did choke out Sokoudjou in the 2nd at 4:20. Can Ortiz overcome this? Well, it does seems that Ortiz does his best against opponents he genuinely hates (Shamrock), or those he knows he can beat. He had a certain look on his face in that fight. If we see an Ortiz come into the ring who is even slightly unconfident (ie: Evans, Liddell, Couture, or Griffin) then Machida will get the better of Ortiz. Ortiz was at his best when he was coaching and training with all those up-and-comers back in big bear for the TUF season 3 with guys like Lister and Soliz helping out. If Ortiz can get back to business and surround himself with the right people again he’ll be victorious. As a side note, Dana and Tito need to quit being children and allow an Evans or Griffen vs. Tito rematch. If not, the UFC will be losing a staple name in their organization that many people come out to see.

I have one problem with the way Dana does business. when ever a fighter has a lost 2 to 3 fights in a row he wont allow them to fight. When it was wanderlei silva vs Chuck it wasnt a title fight but “a fight to determine who is goin to stick around.” also ufc had said after buying out pride that they would create a new organization to mix the to fighting leagues but it didnt happen. what happened was that pride fighters were place in a unfamiliar venue (most have never fought in a cage) while ufc fighters had the advantage always training for the cage

the fact is UFC fighters are underpaid… Brock Lesnar gets half a million dollars for a fight he is expected to lose lol and Randy Couture gets around a 100 grand with pay check plus bonus for beating Tim Sylvia.. then when he beats Gonzaga he gets LESS money AND no bonus.. i’d be mad after that too.. he probably found out what Lesnar was getting and said enoughs enough.. Pride guys were getting 6 figures for fights… I could be wrong about some of this but all you hear is how UFC guys are underpaid..

Canada show.. how many seats? 14 thousand or more? tickets are 50 - 500 bucks so average it out to 200 x number of tickets.. thats ALOT of money not including endorsements….. without the fighters its nothing.. without Dana it would still be there…
my humble opinion…

I don’t have any problem with Machida, but this guy is not marketable. The UFC is marketing this fight as Tito versus Balk Funk Dana. In actuality, their feud most likely isn’t as big as how the media portrays it.

Tito and Dana are both annoying son of a bitches, but they both give some personality to the whole game. Tito will be back. UFC has to start paying more, and Tito sells tickets and PPV’s. What Tito has to do is win the Machida fight then he silences the critics. If he loses then he proves them right. Machinda does have mad skills and a 12-0 record against anybody deserves some attention. I just hope that Tito has an ok future in whatever he does in the future. He did have some wars and was more than entertaining. The sport does need some bad ass attitudes ti stir up $hit and make some drama. As for Dana, he’s the p diddy of mma. Producers or management shouldn’t always have their big faces in the spotlight. Dana doesn’t deserve the t.v. time. We pay to see the fighters, not his ugly mug. With that said good luck to both Tito and Machida. Could be out with the old, in with the new, or it could be the beginning of something great.

I thin Ortiz is gonna win this fight, slightly but surely. Talking about Dana White, he’s a fucken asshole. I agree with Kevlos. Tito needs to come back and absolutely destroy Machida. No decision here, I’m talking first or second round bloody, out-cold stoppage. That would be his mark, and he would have to be asked back to the UFC. How can you market Machida after being annihilated by someone who walked out on the organization. It can’t happen, and Dana loves Machida.
Tito can’t go to any other organization, he would just become a second rate fighter. Randy is leaving just to fight Fedor and that’s it. Dana must shell out more money.

Machida will smash Tito - TKO or one-sided decision. Tito will not be able to put Machida on his back with those half-ass takedowns starting from 10 feet away, that last worked in MMA in 2002. Machida will keep it standing and beat up Tito’s GH-induced uber-skull. I mean, how can he miss?

Tito will end up re-signing with the UFC. This is all BS negotiation tactics that Jenna is teaching him, in between taking cumshots in the face from various men and animals.

Tito is a big name IN AMERICA ONLY. UFC is the only org that has staying power in America.

Worldwide, Tito is known to not be a top 10 light heavy anymore. And in Japan rules, no cage, no elbows, he would not even be top 30. He is stuck. He needs the UFC more than the UFC needs him…and Dana knows it.

I don’t really know how it all works but you’d think as far as what the fighters are paid, they must have agreed to it at the time or they wouldn’t have taken the fight. If they later found out they weren’t paid as much as the next guy, too bad so sad. Their probably more pissed off at themselves than anyone else, for not being smart enough to hold out for more too. Dana White was the rise of the UFC but he is also going to be the downfall of the UFC. I just think that MMA is still a growing sport and it has a long way to go before it stabilizes. You can compare that with boxing, in the beginning it was chaos but eventually got their act together because there were many paying fans. And speaking of boxing I think MMA should adopt a promoter/manager way of doing business. Contracts I believe are stupid, it limits were and when a fighter can fight and for how much. If a fighter is good he can always get fights, and if he’s really good he can get more for each fight. Plus, he can choose to fight in any venue (UFC, WEC, Elitcxc, etc).

mygif
Smashedyoface Says, in 2-22-2008 at 13:50:16 from 64.239.154.138

Tito was in a contract that he signed, why did he sign it if he didn’t like it. That’s his own fault. Randy got beat by Chuck so of course Chuck would make more money than him at the time Randy signed his contract. That was before Chucks losses. Fact of the matter is… if you perform well and win dominately, when contract time comes you’ll get paid. When was the last fight that Tito won dominatley? An old Shamrock? Tito does not perform like he use to. If he did he might be champ and he would be getting paid the same amount as Chuck, Rampage, Anderson, GSP, or anyone else that makes the fights exciting to watch. The only people that pay to watch Tito are hardcore fans, like me a LONG time ago. He should stop bitching, focus on training and get off TV. Then he may earn the respect again that his name once carried.

Oh… one more thing. This whole Brock Lesnar’s pay talk vs. Couture’s. Yes, Lesnar got paid a ridiculous amount of money… that’s retarded. But, this whole Couture got paid only $100k a fight stuff is dumb. Couture got a $500k signing bonus, and on top of they PPV cuts and bonuses he recieved he was making a little over 1Mill a fight (against Sylvia & Gonzaga). Remeber that PPV bonuses don’t have to be put on for public display. Dana posted these records a few months ago. PPV bonuses are where you make the $$$ in the UFC, but you have to earn them.

Tito Says, in 2-23-2008 at 09:14:57 from 99.246.146.7

Say Tito vs Chuck 2 brought in something like 350 thousand paper view buys.

Tito gets paid perfight around 150-250 thousand a fight plus a bonus if he wins. Plus a another bonus if he wins fight of the night, KO of the night, or Sub of the night, a.k.a 60 000.

Then Tito gets a percentage of the PPV buys. Say tito gets 1%. Thats 8000 dollars.

So if ONLY shows up and finishes his opponent therefore getting a bonus, he makes approx. 5 hundred thousand dollars.

Fight 3 times a year thats 1.5 million fight 4 more years with the UFC and get in the hall of fame plus go down as one of the biggest mainstream stars ever and make 6 million dollars.

Or go for a few quick pay days as at the freakshow and fight Kimbo.

Stop ducking Kimbo! And Allistar Overeem!

UFChasNOrespect Says, in 2-24-2008 at 01:26:19 from 71.56.196.248

This isn’t about Tito ultimately. This is about what the UFC fails to realize out of greed. There are pros and cons to what the UFC has done for MMA.

On one hand it has made MMA more “main stream” and less scary to the general public which takes away many of the negative thoughts or judgements about the sport.

On the other hand the UFC thinks they can never die so they treat their fighters with a serious lack of respect. Fighters are not taken care of monetarily especially considering what they go through in preparation for and during a match.

Look at the rediculous amount of pay that NFL, NBA, or MLB players recieve for their efforts. MMA is a professional sport that requires, in my opinion, much more talent than any of these sports.

Dana White and the UFC are slowly ruining what made the UFC enticing in the first place. The price of Pay Per View is now up to $45 a pop now and they still leave a fight or two off out of the show that you can only see on the DVD if you choose to spend another $20.

UFC will never live up to what PRIDE FC was (even with all the crookedness that transpired in Pride). At least pride put their gladiators on a pedastal and treated them with respect.

I will no longer order the UFC PPV events. Dana doesn’t deserve my money.

Lets be real, I’ve hated Tito from the start. I questioned his heart, will, and desire to fight. But hes fought the best for over a decade, how many fighters can you say that about? From Frank and Kenny Shamrock to Chuck Liddell, Wanderlei Silva , Vitor Belfort, Evan Tanner, even the Janitor Vladimir Matyushenko is hardly a walk through. He really made a statement to me as a coach on the Ultimate Fighter series. Theres a reason why hes one of the few older one dimensional style of fighters that can even step into the octagon. And to say he isn’t top ten? Fuck’in Dana. Didn’t he ground and pound the shit out of Forrest who just beat Rua…..I mean say what you want but hes fought the best of yesterday and todays new breed. Dont be silly, any other organization would be happy to have Tito…Tito, you may have been…or may still be as Ken Shamrock would say a “PUNK” but you’ve earned my respect through the years. Also, UFC isn’t they money making machine it appears to be. There was an article posted a few months ago talking about the debt of the UFC and what the S&P 500 rated the company. Though it is gaining popularity, they are still really far away from becoming an organization like NFL,NBA, Boxing or anything else people have stated on here. They are projected to spend millions more than they intake over the next 5 years. If they porve that wrong, which they are trying to do they have the potential of being the next multi million $$$ industry. That’s when fighters will get paid like boxing.

Dana white isnt fit to be the promoter for the ufc, hes lost so many good fighters over the last year or 2, also some of the more recent fight cards have been so poorly put together its ridiculous. He was an agent for fighters when the business was going under, his 2 casino owning buddies ended up buying the company and appointed him promoter and he still hasnt learned how to operate the company. the way that he treated shamrock and phil baroni towards the ends of their time with the ufc was wrong, and hes gotten all of these uneducated fans now who just want to see chuck liddel punch people cos hes got a gut, and then they boo the ground aspects of fighting

as far as tito is concerned the people who keep posting hes an asshole or what not should think before they speak, tito has been argueing with dana for the same reasons as other stars in the ufc, and he started complaining about the amount he was being paid when he was the champion,
he still has the longest ufc title reign to date.
and also in a recent interview with vitor belfort, vitor was quoted as saying that tito is a great guy behind the scenes.

You guys need to quit with saying Randy was getting the shaft. He was paid his signing bonuses, and his base pay for simply showing up to the Gonzaga fight was 250,000 (the same as Brock got for the Mir fight) and then another 250,000 to win. Randy was also given around close to an extra million in PPV shares. That’s nearly 2 million for about 3 months of work if you consider that Randy has a 12 week training camp leading up to his fights. Fight 3 times a year and win and thats 6 million not including endorsments and sponsorships. I’d say that’s pretty good money.

Guys Like Lesnar were paid as much as Randy becuase thay were the fighters who were selling the PPVs. Do you think that UFC 81 would have done nearly as well without Brock? Hell no, the top paid fighters in the UFC are the guys that bring in the most viewers, and wether Brock deserved the money or not, people were paying to see Brock that night.

Also this guy doesn’t know what he is talking about..Yes Fighters deserve more money andt hey will get more money….yes people need to speak out….but dude UFC is not “Branding” The Ufc name more than there fighters they have the young fighters alot of the fighters are getting old that is y they are leaving because they can’t fight these new upcoming fighters….also Tito is becoming washed up he really was scared to fight Lyoto…I still like tito but Dana is rite Tito stop talking you don’t understand Business or branding.
