This is the fight video of Tim Sylvia Vs Brandon Vera at UFC 77 Hostile Territory. |
Tim Sylvia came into this fight looking in the best shape I have ever seen him in. He was going to need all of his added endurance in his fight with undefeated Brandon Vera.
Vera was hoping to continue on his undefeated path to the top of the heavyweight class in the UFC.
This was a close fight between two of the guys looking to take Randy Couture’s place as the new champ.

Brandon Vera broke his hand in the first round. Notice that when vera had tim down in the second he wasn’t striking with the right even though tim was open. The bottom line is Sylvia couldn’t finish a guy half his size with only one good arm.

I was expecting more from this fight between Vera and Sylvia. It was really a close fight, however, I was really disappointed after watching this fiasco.
This fight did not give any of the two justice to justify who really is the better fighter.
I really wanted to see a knockout and more punches! No wonder the audience was booing, could you really blame them!

Well said, BUNSOFSTEEL. I think Sylvia belongs in a super heavyweight division, not heavyweight division. He thinks he’s ‘cool’ because he is 6′8″ 260 lbs. Couture whips him, and Sylvia makes a million excuses why he lost. Vera and Arlovski both would have a tough time making light heavyweight because they are both pretty tall. Most Lights are 6′2″ tall or shorter.
Vera is a pretty decent fighter. I like him..

i don’t like tim sylvia; i hate watching his fights beacause they’re boring. BUT, i do think he is a smart fighter in the sense that he knows how to use his size. useing his weight to hold down his opponents and not really doing much is boring to all of us but it is a good strategy to wear out his opponent. i like brandon, he is a great stiker. This is the first match i haven’t been impressed with. don’t know if his hand was really the problem or tim’s size. but he did have a few good hits. don’t think he’s ready for randy yet; but i think he’ll do fine as a heavy weight, as long as he has a good game plan.

In my opinion there is no room for freaks like Sylvia and corey hill in the UFC. Fighters like this that mostly use there size/height to win there matchs and not actual hard earned skill are in my opinion basically cheating freaks. I personally don’t get anything from watching actually real UFC athletes guys who actually put in there time with training, actually work hard enough and condition there bodies. Things real fighters do unlike freaks like Sylvia or Corey. People should come together to get freaks like these guys banned or at the very least put in there own super heavy weight/ freak division, but then we all know none of them would fight if that ever happened because the freaks are pussys to and can only beat other fighters if they have there massive height and or weight advantage intact.

all yous are stupid. tim sylvia’s 263 lbs at 6′8. brandon vera’s 225 lbs at 6′2. thats a huge advantage for sylvia. he’s enormous compared to vera. vera fight up. if tim sylvia couldn’t use his weight to throw around vera, take him down, knock him out, or even get out of that grapple then he’s a waste. vera had a take down along with a few punches, especially one good left, and low kicks along with 1 high kick. whatd sylvia do? alot of nothing. vera had him against the fence as well as tied up the entire time. vera’s defense was great, most of sylvia’s punches were blocked. so i dont know how sylvia won? because vera was bleeding? holding onto but keeping control of sylvia? all i know is sylvia doesnt fight people his size, maybe he should cut weight and be a normal human being rather than an over grown ogre. 225 and 263? thats crazy. vera earned alot of respect even going in there with sylvia. he also kept control of sylvia. anyone who disagrees might need to watch that video again.
