This is the fight video of Tim Sylvia versus Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira at UFC 81.
Turned out to be the most enjoyable fight of the night. They both fought like they were there to win. There shouldn’t be anybody calling this a fixed fight.

Everybody has been debating Fedor vs Couture, forget that fight, Fedor would wipe the floor with him. I think Couture vs Noguiera would be a far more interesting fight.

Hey James you may want to dig into Anderson Silva’s background a little closer. He was a Pride fighter and left after 2004 for Cage Rage in Britain where he became Champion. Silva left Pride after losing 2 fights in a row and decided to try his luck elsewhere as a title shot was not going to happen for him.
The guy is an awesome fighter and the fact remains that 3 Pride fighters are holding titles in the UFC now.
As for Randy, he’s a stud and great fighter, but he left and now there is a new Champion. You can put whatever spin you want on it, but Champions come and go, and there is a new one in town.
As I stated earlier the fight that would be out of this world would be Noguiera vs Couture. Without a doubt that would be a greater and more evenly matched fight than the Fedor fight would be.
As for those that keep saying Fedor has fought nobody, well he fought Noguiera 3 times and handed him 3 of his 4 mma losses.
Coincidentally Noguiera’s only other loss was a decision to Josh Barnett who ko’d Couture several years back.
People keep saying stupid things like Fedor ducks quality opponents. Well no one ever stops to think of the stupidity of those comments. Up until last year, Pride was the top organization in the world and the UFC was on the verge of bankruptcy 2 years ago. The top paid competition was flocking to Pride, the money was there and the big fights were there. The reality here is that Randy Couture should have been trying to go to Pride and find that fight, not vice versa.
However those arguments are stupid no matter how you look at it and we should accept both guys fought high quality opponents and both guys are real studs, please leave it at that.

Honestly, I dislike Tim Sylvia. He didn’t bring the heat in his last couple of fights and tends to be boring when he has the belt, fighting not to lose rather than to win. This was especially true when he had obviously dropped 4 rounds against Couture (seriously, let the hands go and try to get the knockout, you so-called striker!). That being said, he pushed the pace in this fight, probably due to better cardio from what sounds like a brutal training camp, and he is a tough dude. Frank Mir BROKE HIS ARM with a beautiful armbar, and Tim didn’t tap. In fact he begged to be allowed to keep fighting, but Herb Dean knew better.
Nog is a classy guy and a deserving champion, but give credit where it’s due: Sylvia fought his heart out and very, very nearly KO’d Minotauro, something even Fedor never did…

I would think that meant Pride fighters were bigger.

I don’t mean to rain on Randy’s parade, but he hasn’t fought any one that would put him in the same category as Fedor. The HW division in the UFC just got better after Pride went belly up, and yet Randy hasn’t fought any one from Pride. I don’t really want to make this a UFC vs Pride… but if Randy wants to show he is in the same category as Fedor, he should fight someone from Pride Fedor already beat, like Nogueira. The UFC’ legacy is showing that according to them, the business is bigger than the sport. For the longest time the UFC just kept on getting mostly american fighters, and not really going after the skilled international fighters. And that’s why Pride was better than the UFC. It was a mecca of talent. The UFC had mostly ballsy wrestlers, Pride showed that ballsy wrestlers didn’t fair well when there was a plethora of styles. even the wrestler in Pride were very skilled at striking, not like the UFC, where they could just lay on top of fighters for 3 rounds, and win. If the UFC really was as good as people believe, why didn’t some of the american fighters come back to fight in it? Because it was, and it isn’t the best.
