This stoppage was more questionable than the irvin VS alexander fight. alexander had no gaurd and his arms were stiff, he was KO’d. Alves was always going to win after he landed that knee, Parisyan was defending himself but wasnt going to last long.

Good stoppage , Karo will whine and complain but in the end if he really wasn’t “finished” then why the hell was he on all fours stiff as a board and not even attempting to avoid any punches or anything… what the hell is a ref suppose to do when he sees one guy who isn’t putting up any defense while the other is raining down huge bombs.

Good stoppage and Karo was simply caught with a solid knee, these things happen.

alexander stoppage wasperfect. alexander was out.. this.. well that knee lifted caro off the ground and Knocked him out.. he was coming back but its the refs job to stop teh fight when he sees the fighter out.. weither he get back while hes stopping the fight.. isnt the refs fault.. the fighter should have not got knocked out

karo still had his hands up and partially blocking punches when the ref steps in.

weve seen karo recover from a big punch like in the serra fight, big john didnt stop marcus davis when he was getting pounded good by paul taylor, and he turned it around, i think steve mazzagati should take a note

good stoppage. the ref’s job is to stop the fight when the fighter can’t intellegently defend himself. sure he got blinded by the knee but he got hit by 3 more punches without defending. should the ref let it go for 2 more punches? thats a gamble cuz either’s he’s fine, or he’ll be severely injured. the ref’s job is to look out for the safety of the fighters. i hate mazzi too. he screwed brock, no warning and just took a point away allowing mir to stand and have a better position leading to a win. but this fight, he did his job

Total BS stoppage. Even Joe Lauzon took a worse beating and they let that go on forever. Karo was dazed but no way out, he was defending himself and was recovering. Houston was out cold. He looked exactly the way he did after the Silva fight. Alvez was just given a gift.

After watching the replays the ref got it right both times. Alexander was out, Paro could not come back from that position.

I think people look to blame the ref far too quickly these days.

I agree with the stoppage. I do have to agree that I would liked to have seen Karo take a few more punches since he is such a dick.

If you look at 6:07, Karo has his arms out but he isn’t blocking. His arms are forward but he is getting hit on the left side of his head.

One thing is for sure, this will be another Karo story about how he was cheated out of a title shot. If Thiago could do this to him, imagine what GSP could do?

The best comment I have heard so far regarding the early stoppage: if you don’t want the fight to get stopped early… then don’t get dropped.

Early stoppages are the product of guys getting dropped. Both Houston and Karo crumpled. They didn’t get rocked on their feet, they didn’t get shaken, they got dropped plain and simple.

Houston was out, Karo was on his way out. Good Stop.

When a guys face hits the ground after a nasty knee to the side of the face and recieves a few extra blows after that, usually the ref would stop it…but we’re not talking about Karo here, he wasn’t hurt, he was taking those blows from Thiago easily…I’m being sarcastic, Karo was done and Thiago was all over him. I usually agree with the ref, and even supported him with the Alexander stoppage, but I’m gonna have to say bad call this time, not all those punches connected, he never wen’t limp, and he was defending. I’m well aware of the effects of too much punishment but at the same time this aint tag football my friends. He could have continued, though for how long is a big question in my mind. Either way I’ve always found Paresian to be a real cocksucker and poor sport so there ya go. Thanks to the TKO guys for all these posts, I love it.

I’m a huge Karo fan. But it was a good 100% legit stoppage. He was dropped, didn’t lift his arms and got clean punched 3 times without attempting any defense. Then he woke up, of course, but he was out for those seconds…

If you know anything about MMA or how a knockout works, you’ll know that this stoppage was legit.

Karo was out, he would have just been knocked out completely and possibly given brain damage had Alves been allowed to continue raining down blows.

Holding your hand limply to the side of your face while on all fours dazed after collapsing like a ton of bricks doesn’t really do much to convince a ref that you’re still in it.
