Wow, Cox was clearly KTFO and Alves didn’t back off an inch. pounding his face when the guy’s hands were completely limp. I hope Hughes returns the favor on Cox’s behalf.

he is a black belt on the ground….so if it goes to the ground he should be very comfortable plus his stand up is excellent(you seen it vs karo).

Alves has an advantage against hughes’ takedowns in that he throws very quick low kicks which are hard to grab. on top of that he’s quicker than hughes in general. Hughe’s striking is more pick-a-dude-apart whereas alves is very aggressive. Plus in the clench Alves has the muay thai knees whereas hughes usually just looks for a takedown in the clench. If alves can throw a quick knee he could score a KO.
But where Alves pales in comparison to hughes is strength. Even though he is strong. Hughes is stronger, & if he gets alves down, he’ll hold him down until he gets a TKO / submission.

I really like both fighters, however as I am Brazilian, I which Thiago wins but my hope is very low about that. I don’t think Thiago is ready for Matt. And if he fights like he fought Karo Parisian he will be destroyed.
Lets just be real; Matt is a phenomenon, from his last 23 fights he lost only three and that’s for nothing else but JSP (twice) and BJ Pen.

LOL Nice tackle by the ref!!
Thiago better bring his A game to the cage cause if he fights like he did Parisian, Huges will tear him to pieces…I don’t see this fight going 3 rds. Huges needs to win, fight GSP and retire…it’s time dude…

You don’t stop attacking til the ref says so. So imo, I didn’t see anything wrong with what Alves did
