This is the fight video from Pride 33 featuring Takanori Gomi vs. Nick Diaz.

The fight was the last so far for Diaz since he failed the drug test that was taken shortly before his fight with Takanori Gomi. Diaz tested positive for marijuana. The NSAC declared the fight a “No Contest” and suspended Diaz for 6 months with a fine of 20% of his earnings ($3,000) he won from the fight against Gomi.

These two fighters supplied nonstop action and this fight was considered by many to be the best MMA fight of the year.

That was one of the best fights in MMA history… and the fact that Nick Diaz was supposedly high out of his mind makes it an even greater fight… and it even earned Gomi the nickname Go Go-Gomi… lol

awwwwesome fight, I love this one, gomi looked good early, n diaz’s boxing style is so unorthodox and crazy. Too bad it couldn’t count as a win which is bs. I think Gomi’s cardio may be becuz of jetlag or not havin fought in the statez in a long time?

I don’t say this often but gomi might’ve gassed from not being able to use roids. They don’t check where he fights almost all his fights (Japan) but this fight was in the US. Gassing after just 3 minutes is just unexplainable otherwise for a fighter that experienced.

Yeah yeah, I read the article about Nick’s THC levels being like… 10x the “acceptable” amount, I know, but… seriously, gomi was soooo exhausted by the end of round one, imagine how badly he would’ve been beaten if diaz wasnt blown out of his mind. Getting a no contest for beating the shit out of someone while stoned doesnt make sense from a rational perspective. But rules will be rules. I love the Diaz brothers. daaaam i never seen a gogoplata finish in MMA that was stunning. tho diaz had mad chances to KO gomi in RD1 – i mean could’ve done a high kick or a flying knee or a thai clench or somethin. he didn’t do a thing man…. still a great fight tho!!

but diaz bought the heat in this fight… gomi had a strong start… but thats the thing about the diaz bros…. they are smart fighters… good job diaz… and gratz on yer victory over gomi, an amazing fighter. this was an amazing fight.

what a fight is an understatement? I have my doubts about Diaz winning; had this fight been in Japan? with 4point attacks; Gomi had a great north/south position to reign down knees at Diaz’s head. This fight like most of the greater match-ups thus far in MMA was brought to you by the now defunct PrideFC organization. Too bad more people didn’t show their support when they came to the U.S.? they only had like 30,000 to 50,000 PPV buys? for such a deep quality card? Hendo vs Wand, Shogun VS Overeem 2 & this? were getting just what we deserve with this “ufc reality show garbage”? when Pride came to town no one came to show support!

Gomi gased because he tried to finish the fight when he rocked nick. watch it again. he was all over him expecting to finish.

also gomi looked flabby and out of shaped. skills is one thing, but condition and heart is another thing. gotta have both.

niaz’s face was all fucked up. Gomi didn’t not protect his face giving niaz too many chances, but niaz couldn’t KO him, too bad for you niaz, you’re much taller and your arms are much longer than gomi’s, excepts the triangle choke, which gave you the win, your punched like you were trying to break the bubbles in the air.
