Diaz lost to Noons, which makes me sick considering that Nick used to be one of my favorites. Gomi would tear Diaz apart in a rematch now. Takanori Gomi is a very exciting fighter and it would be a treat to us all if he would come to North America more often.
Yes, Gomi is still considered one of the best in his division and P4P. He is looked at in the same fashion by the MMA experts as guys like Pointon (Gerbil’s boy), Hightower, and Corey Hill.
bj penn killed him, so would melendez and faber or huerta, another totally overrated fighter who hasn’t beaten any top guys
He did loose to Diaz, but if you watch the bout you’d see that he didn’t care about it… it was so obvious… I have no idea why he wasn’t even trying… I mean he didn’t even care of a loss on his record…it was weird… maybe to get a hyped up rematch..and more money… but if you watch the fight you will clearly see how superior his skills are to Diaz’s.
You’re high if you think Takanori is still #1. There are way too many good fighters in the UFC now that I don’t even know if I would rank him in the top 8.
For those Pride sucks guys, Ishida is a top lightweight he just recently tore through Gilbert Melendez who I believe is one of the best lightweights in the world.
Gomi is an animal at lightweight and anyone who thinks different should look up his fights with Jens Pulver, and BJ Penn.

dirty 7-30, are you blind diaz submitted him, gomi couldn’t finish diaz when he had the chance and his ground game and cardio sucks compare to diaz. bj penn destroyed gomi in ufc and kicked his ass back to japan!. gomi will not be in the top 5 in the ufc at 155. he is only cocky in japan because the japanese want at least one japanese champion. same with yamamoto all overrated. griffin, huerta, guida, edgar, penn will beat these japanese fighters easily. may be at 135 they’ll have a chance but not 155.

i disagree with earlier post saying gomi would lose to huerta; huerta has pillows for hands and average wrestling, i think gomi takes him easily using gnp or catching him w a bomb. i would like to see this match though the ufc would probably never risk their latino pretty boy losing to a relative japanese unknown

Well the truth is that people that have seen more than just UFC have a better opinion about fighters, than people who **JUST** watch UFC… most people here are UFC babies… they don’t know anything beyond UFC, and yet they think that by watching these vids they are catching up… it doesn’t work that way fellas. The way you babies gauge fighter’s abilities is with their Win/Loss Record, not by performance. “BJ PENN killed him”… umm a 3rd round submission doesn’t really sound like he was killed…
Huerta is an OK fighter.. but not at GOMI’s caliber, Huerta clocked GUIDAmany times… didn’t seem to have that much affect on guida… hehadr a hard time out wrestling Guida, even though he was suppose to be the superior wrestler.
one thing i hate about pride is when they stop the fight and start the fight in the middle of the ring. it totally disrupts the rhythm of the fight and looks so gay when they get back into position on top of each other. that’s where i think a cage is more suitable for mma.
I prefer that than to see fighters use the cage to pin their opponent. It takes them for ever to pin them… where if it’s move to the middle shit happens faster either the guy gets out, or he gets submitted.
