Some fighters simply don’t improve their technique after a while. It’s not an age thing, it’s just a mental thing. Look at Hunt and he is older than most, but he is still learning.

Gomi didnt look great it’s true but I’m really blown away by Mitsuoka.He’s a 145 fighter,maybe even 135 and he dropped Gomi got his back and got the inverted triangle.I’m sure if he would’ve just pucnhed him the rest of the round he would’ve won.But you can’t be mad at him for throwing the inverted triangle.He had it.10 more seconds and Mitsuoka had the submission of the night.I want to see him in 145 or 135 if he can.

it would be so simple to make repeated strikes to the back of the head, or a solid one, like striking below the belt. give the guy getting cheated time to recover, cost the offender advantageous position, and potential points or the fight.

Gomi is a legend, but he just hasn’t evolved. He can still hang as a gatekeeper, if that’s what he wants, but retiring with a nice comeback victory in Japan wouldn’t be bad either.
