Great move… if you ever get in a fight with a board.

You all don’t get it. It’s the discipline, the athleticism, the skills, the confidence, the mind-body awareness. It’s called Martial Arts.

jdogg Says, in 5-10-2013 at 12:03:05 from

I guess somebody forgot to tell Machida TKD is not effective.

shocktime Says, in 5-10-2013 at 12:26:47 from

Cmon guys the bottom line is can you do it? 98% of use he probably not. That’s some impressive stuff. Tae Kwon Do may not be best for fighting, but that dudes explosive athleticism can not be denied.

GreatKing Says, in 5-10-2013 at 12:48:00 from

He has great agility and accuracy. I like this demonstration very much.
Thanks for the post Bruno!

I took TKD for 15 years and got into a fight with a jujitsu black belt. Guess what?
I won! I punched him in the throat and then kicked him in the nuts. TKD is awesome! :)

Shanks Says, in 5-10-2013 at 12:52:48 from

Everyone is always so quick to judge the effectiveness of these techniques in a fighting scenario rather then just looking at it from a purely athletic/martial arts enthusiast point of view. There are lots of techniques, in ALL martial arts, that are less effective then others. The f***** guy jumped off people to do a back flip kick breaking a board that was about 10 feet high. Appreciate it for what it is… that s*** is impressive.

greengiant Says, in 5-10-2013 at 14:24:10 from

I know some techniques of any discipline can be used in MMA but not all.

FailSonnen Says, in 5-10-2013 at 14:26:23 from

TKD is easy to make fun of but people forget that Benson Henderson, and Anthony Pettis both come from TKD backgrounds. The showtime kick is prime TKD

FailSonnen Says, in 5-10-2013 at 14:27:35 from

Also Anderson Silva of course

Yoplait Says, in 5-10-2013 at 15:21:17 from

I took TKD for 65 years and fought Blanka from Street Fighter and guess what? I stomped his green ass and sent him home to Brazil crying. Kicked right through that electric shock bs.

ultimate fighter Says, in 5-10-2013 at 16:35:37 from

TKD for pussies real men just close their eyes and swing their arms at each other until some1 falls down thats real martial arts

icolater Says, in 5-10-2013 at 16:37:33 from

Tony Jaa would be impressed by this, amazing stuff.

Coutura Says, in 5-10-2013 at 16:55:43 from

It reminds me of street fighter one bonus level ..taek kuang dou is like cheer leaders jumping and screeming i think is gay the only thing good about it its flexing your legs

Jo Says, in 5-10-2013 at 17:28:32 from

I had a lot of fun with Tae Kwon Do. It’s a cool sport, fun to watch and do. Then one day I was sparring with one of the black belts. He kicked me in the face, an illegal move, driving my teeth through my lip.

He and his buddies just laughed and walked around like they were badass while I bled all over my uniform. That’s when I realized these guys mistook a TKD match and sparring with real fighting. It’s cool to be proud to be good at something, but acting tough about it while some guy bleeds from a foul?

So I just grabbed the idiot, held him down, bled on him and gave him raccoon eyes. Where you punch them in the eyes so they have 2 black eyes. I didn’t hit him hard, but it took a few hits.

I was not allowed back.

It was still fun though.

Jo Says, in 5-10-2013 at 17:32:06 from

Also while at a TKD tournament guys were breaking boards. Acting all strong or whatever. A power lifter friend of mine grew annoyed because the boards looked so flimsy. So in between board breaks on the stage he walked up and grabbed a board. He flexed it with his hands and it shattered into 3 or 4 pieces. He grabbed another and did the same thing. It was hilarious. The crowd was cheering him on.

He was asked to leave.

@ultimate fighter
Yeah footwork is for f***.

Roe Jogan Says, in 5-10-2013 at 18:02:23 from

TKD is a good way to get your ass kicked in a real fight. But, to do what these guys can do takes considerable training and sure is pretty. The TKD fighter that wins in MMA is the exception not the rule.

@jdogg: Machida is a Shotokan KARATE black belt. Far as I know he does not practice TKD. He also trains sumo and BJJ. Maybe I missed something?

jeffb Says, in 5-11-2013 at 02:36:22 from

my original post got pulled down? seriously? I attempted (in a very nice way, I might add) to school jdogg on the fact that Machida is a shotokan karate black belt and does not train TKD. I guess ignorance is supposed to reign supreme here???

jeffb Says, in 5-11-2013 at 02:38:54 from

ha! oops! my comment suddenly reappeared after my 2nd post. my bad, Bruno, or whoever does the mod stuff. I’m done commenting for the night. BTW, bad ass kicks, but like many said, “boards don’t hit back”, and I can’t imagine having to kick someone 8-12 feet off the ground, but it does look cool as hell. Love me some Tony Jaa (no homo).

coutura Says, in 5-11-2013 at 13:10:00 from

why do they need to put their hands back like that when braking the board gay

Joe Says, in 5-11-2013 at 23:20:14 from

I think the last kick was the same one Pettis used on Henderson

kdaddy Says, in 5-12-2013 at 07:53:43 from

I hate how everyone commented on tkd and not the video, fyi everyone cung le is a tkd fighter. Seriously how many key board warriors do i need to hear about? Also if you took a ma and lost like kung fu or tkd maybe you werent very good, you ever think about that? didnt we say all these same things about karate when mma first came out then bam machida happens and now its ok to do karate but when a great tkd video is posted lets rag on it. The children that come on to this website and type what ever that comes to mind.
