That was good stuff. I let my son (8) take TKD for 2 months because two of his best friends were in the dojo. He got his yellow belt which cost me an additional $50 for the “test”.

I pulled him out when I watched the “test” and saw how he would pretty much get his ass kicked in a fight.

I then brought him to a JuiJitsu gym (with Muay Thai). He does BJJ for 3 days a week minimum. He does MT for 2 days a week. He did his first tournament last month and got 3rd. It was No Gi and the 1st and 2nd place finishers were yellow belts.

He just got his second strip (5 months in). He won’t get his yellow belt until summer or this time next year.

He had a little “test” with his friend who is now a “green belt”. It lasted about 45 seconds at which time his friend grasping for air learned how to tap out for his first time. His father saw it and they have now joined the BJJ gym as well. =)

TKD is for Machida and those who want to lose fights.

TKD is Korean karate. But technically you’re right. The styles are very similar.

I think the styles are pretty different but I don’t take either so don’t put too much merit into my opinion .

The Japanese are all about that cute cuddly stuff, and call me gay but that’s what that was .
