Tae Bo Billy Blanks Gets Knocked Out

Back in 1983 at a High School gym near of Boston, the then ranked #2 in New England, Larry Kelley faced Tae Bo Billy Blanks who was ranked #1 in New England for a 2-minute barnburner match.

In tournament point karate a knockout shot usually was considered “uncontrolled” and brought with it a disqualification. The kick came during sudden death overtime. That kick that took out Billy Blanks was so perfectly executed that referees didn’t have the heart to disqualify Kelley and was awarded the point and the match.

PETER HUYNH:I don’t think it’s fair to compare traditional martial arts with MMA. You have to remember that that in MMA many things are not allowed, such as wrist locks pokes to the eyes etc. that’s why makes it a sport.

You are comparing survival tactics vs sporting tactics.

I wouldnt say Fedor is a coward, but some of his greatest victories have been against second rate fighters. And now instead of putting it on the line in the UFC he’s doing freak shows in Japan. We could speculate all day. Bottom line
he needs to step in to the octagon and end the debate. I have so much respect for him and Randy. It would be a great honor to see them fight.
