Brandon Vera very famous lol Log in to Reply ^^^^ June 25, 2012 The UFC couldn’t give Shogun Rashad? Machida? Rampage? Gustafsson? Offering him Glover is a joke. A guy who had just entered into the UFC and had 1 win on the prelims. To be honest, I wasn’t that that impressed with him. At least Vera is a known fighter and can promote this fight. Who is Dana trying to fool telling us Shogun rather be cut than to fight Glover like he’s scared? We all know the UFC offered Shogun Glover and when Shogun said no, Dana threatened to cut him and Shogun called the bluff. We aren’t stupid, we know offering Glover to Shogun was a favour for Chuck Liddell to help him shoot up the rankings because Glover is under Chuck’s team. Log in to Reply goat June 25, 2012 Hmm, didn’t know Bryant spoke Portuguese. Take that Helwani. Log in to Reply KungFuLowKick June 25, 2012 I think a guy like Glover who’s coming with all that hype and all those finishes would be better to get back in line for a title instead Vera who’s 4-4 in his last 8.that’s just my opinion though. Log in to Reply Seamus June 25, 2012 Hmmm I think I smell shite! You could see in his mince pies there was a hint of fear at glover and rightly so, I have watched this guy before and he is no one fight wonder, the real deal. Would ave been a good scrap though! Log in to Reply axl782 June 25, 2012 it makes sense, if they win their fights, they should fight each other Log in to Reply El Shogun June 25, 2012 What a shitty translator Log in to Reply ^^^^ June 25, 2012 Neither Glover or Vera is going to get Shogun back into the title picture if he wins and if he loses, the obvious. Log in to Reply Op_of_faith June 25, 2012 Kyran Bryant just got hotter…! Log in to Reply Beast w/ 8 Limbs June 25, 2012 Fighting Glover would’ve been a lose-lose for Shougun. If he wins, well obviously we didn’t know enough about Glover and he wasn’t all he was cracked up to be. If he loses well then he lost to a nobody. Log in to Reply ironfist June 25, 2012 Glover is legit knew about him for awhile now. Destroying Kingsbury shouldn’t get him a fight with Shogun but with all the injuries I can see were they’re coming from. Honestly imo Shogun chose the easier option in Vera. If Vera gets his head on straight and his confidence back it just might backfire on Shogun doubt it though Log in to Reply sticky June 25, 2012 Dana White is one slimy mo’fo’. The Sh*t he’s willing to talk about the fighters when he himself is the biggest ***** in the world. Log in to Reply FailSonnen June 25, 2012 Unknown hype doesn’t build fighter. Wasn’t happy at all when Brock Lesnar entered in vying for the belt so quickly. Let Glover work his way up the ranks like everyone else Log in to Reply UnbanNickDiaz June 25, 2012 I think shogun could take Glover….Vera used to be good but wasnt all that fantastic in his last outing Log in to Reply BigPapa June 25, 2012 I believe Dana White. Log in to Reply Karate4yuASS June 25, 2012 Texeira is indeed an unknown fighter (unless ur really into MMA)and on top of that he is super dangerous… so if Shogun beats him, what does he get? Not much besides some Kudos from hardcore MMA fans…. if he loses, Texeira just made himself super popular off Shoguns name… so I can totally see why Shogun has no interest in that fight. Log in to Reply kryptonite June 25, 2012 why would he want to fight someone thats just joined the ufc where would that leave shogun if he lost,i think this vera fight is bull doesnt seem intrested anymore main event shogun 1st round nite nite vera Log in to Reply vaughnrich June 25, 2012 i think that the ufc must see alot of potential in glover and they know that if he were to score an impressive win over shogun then they would have another new fighter that they could promote. Lets face it they are going to have to come up with some new competition for jones bc he’s already beaten all the big names in his division. Log in to Reply ball fro June 25, 2012 Like I said before, Dana never spoke with Shogun, just his “guys”, and then calls him out on being scared. Boss shouldn’t do that, but on the other hand it seems as if Shogun wants the quickest and easiest way to the belt, which is not cool, especially from a fan point of view, his fan. Log in to Reply Piewarrior June 25, 2012 I had no idea who glover was before all this Shogun talk, Vera I definitely know who that is. Good on Shogun to try to create a path to the belt. Shogun may not have many more years left in him its a good sign his motivation is to get to the belt before its too late. Log in to Reply marvelous mad madam mim June 25, 2012 shogun is honest while dana is a liar Log in to Reply Thomas June 25, 2012 Glover has a Chuck Liddell like cross. Not incredibly fast, but it’s got so much force and follow through on it that anyone struck by it will budge. Shogun has been very inconsistent since he signed into the UFC. I’m pretty sure he is scared, and I can’t blame him. He doesn’t appear to have all the JUICY (as in roid-ey) muscles a lot of the other guys do. Log in to Reply Christian June 25, 2012 Honestly, Shogun has fought the ****ing best…. if he doesn’t want to take a fight for once… I say get off his ****ing back about it. Christ…. everyone is making it sound like he is a ***** or something… you know the guy who fought hendo, Bones ect…. such bullshit. God forbid he wants a higher profile fight Log in to Reply KidnamedRich June 25, 2012 I can see Vera fighting Glover and Shogun fighting Machida to complete the trilogy. Glover may be good but like other fighters who have come to the UFC they don’t do as well against the cream of the crop when it comes to the top fighters. Log in to Reply tobes June 25, 2012 @^^^^ I am interested to read that. It makes sense that Chuck would want that fight (Way to get back at Shogun vicariously through Glover for Chuck) and I am in agreement that it is almost disrespectful to Shogun to give him that fight. He is coming back from losing his belt, then having a solid finish and win against a former champion (Forrest). To give him a dangerous but relatively unknown fighter is a lose/lose and not advantageous to their overall strategy. Pride protected their name fighters. The big guys liked that. They had easier fights to keep their confidence high and their name valid. I’m not encouraging widespread use of that – I definitely don’t want the cushioning that I’ve seen in Pride and Bellator. But I would like less random favouritism than presently exists in the UFC. Log in to Reply MuffDiggler June 25, 2012 I think the bigger question is why is Brandon Vera headlining a UFC card again? Guy has 9 lives in the ufc. Log in to Reply skifri3 June 25, 2012 All these posts defending Shogun because it would’ve been a “lose-lose” situation are crazy! What reason does Jon Jones (or any champion) have to fight anyone? It’s a lose-lose situation, because if they win, they just beat somebody that they should’ve beaten (they’re the champ, right?) and if they lose then they lose the belt. If Glover isn’t good enough to fight Shogun, then Shogun should prove it by knocking him out, not ducking him and making excuses. Log in to Reply PitfighterZ June 25, 2012 Just look at Shogun’s record and every and each one of his fights. He’s not scared of anyone. It’s just waste of time to fight Glover because he won’t bring any money into the fight. Vera has name (bad reputation can also be good publicity) and, therefore, paying audience. If Shogun needs to beat a meaningless fighter to get back into the mix (which makes no sense, he only lost to the champion and a very VERY close fight to Hendo), at least let him make some money out of it. Glover is the Iceman’s prospect and they want to push him through the ranks quickly. Let Glover fight at least one decent fighter before giving him a top 5. Log in to Reply Thomas June 26, 2012 Fighters have different styles, teachers, techniques, but in the end it is a fight. No matter who you are, or how good you’ve been doing. You are at risk in every fight. Shogun can be K.O’ed by Vera just as easy as Glover. They say the biggest (and take note bet’ers) advantage is confidence. How is a fighters confidence. In “A Book of Five Rings” Miyamoto Musashi talks about the what it means to be a warrior (samurai). The meaning is: “To not fear death, but instead, to want to die.” Sounds completely ****in stupid, but what it really means is: never worry about what your opponent is going to do to you, but you are going to do to your opponent. If you are not afraid to engage; you will most likely win. If your fighting career is inconsistent like Shogun’s you have lots of bad memories of being beaten. Glover is on a mean streak. Vera just got back in the UFC after the loss to Silva was over-turned with Silva’s non-human piss. In the end this is a fight where both guys are even as far as ego and mental fortitude go. Log in to Reply Axe Murderer June 26, 2012 I didn’t buy it either when I heard he was afraid to fight Glover I mean he comes out of the Chute box they knock each others blocks off all day long so why would he be afraid to fight anyone. As a professional you have to do whats right for your future and fighting Glover just wont help him not at this moment in time, Brandon doesn’t help much either but I think it’s a small step in the right direction. Log in to Reply YOUEFFSEE June 26, 2012 I didn’t watch-listen to the video but Undertaker needs a choke slam, Shogun needs a real oppenent..Hell in a cell RNC falls anywhere fight, the special guest ref is…. yep no other then Mr. Stevie Wonder and the 3 judges scoring the contest have been to over 300 Ted Nugent concerts. Log in to Reply grapefighter June 27, 2012 Trying to use shogun as a stepping stone? What the hell is the UFC thinking. Give the guy some respect..he just had an epic fight with henderson. If i was shogun i would be offended that the ufc was to give me a new comer. I personally would not take this fight and even the keyboard warriors would not take it if they could be shogun for a day. Log in to Reply Schism July 2, 2012 Would you imagine seeing a chuck liddell in his prime fighting a newbee like glover if they weren’t in the same team? Hell no!! Strictly a business move and Shogun winning that fight would just have people saying, “who the **** he beat to deserve a shot at the title? Glover? who the **** is that?” All you guys know what I’m talking about. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
