Did one of these elbows really hit the back of Shinyas head?
I think you can’t see it clearly.

=| What a disappointment. The fight never really got going either.. ugh.

I know, with the different rules and it being a ring makes it hard to compare to the UFC/Cage rules.. but I’ll take BJ and Sherk over these guys. Neither of these guys were convincing, especially Aoki who was on the back foot all fight.

Oh come on…
fuck that… Aoki saw no way out in that fight… knew he was going to lose and acted like that…
disgusting…
Talk about a guy who doesn’t give a fuck about the fans…

I hate Aoki, he lost and Dream puts the result as NC, why not a loss via Injury or something like that, no they cancel the fight.
They protect him so bad, like he was a super star in mma.

Cmon guys I’ve been telling you this crap for weeks. The Japanese promoters just protect Shinya and prevent him from losing at all costs.

of course it would be foolish to say there is no way that he was BSing.
with that said he was DEFINITELY struck solidly on the neck when he buckled. take it from someone who has experienced horrible effects of two herniated discs in his neck from rugby, weight training, and wrestling…
e may very well be in bad shape with a long recovery time and his career may very well be through.

i wish him well if his neck was injured. he’ll need it.

i dont know what to say, i really like Aoki but that was kind of a bitch move taking away the win from jz they should rethink the rules because kicking some one on the ground is a lot worse then an elbow to the head

He hit the back/side of Aoki’s neck. Stop talking smack about a fighter when he doesn’t deserve it. Catch an elbow on the side of your neck and tell me you can fight in 5 minutes. People probably can’t even walk straight if at all.

I’ll watch the rematch. It’s a shame. Aoki had a good game plan with those kicks to the body. JZ wasn’t connecting on the feet. I would’ve liked to see how they would’ve adjusted throughout the fight.

Legitimate stoppage.

Even going so far as to apologize for the elbows.

Much respect.

Are you joking me? A solid elbow to the back of the head/neck? You must not know much about the mma game.

The doctor said that Aoki was hit in the back of the neck and shoulder which paralyzed him. I didn’t know that was illegal.

mygif
jay Says, in 3-16-2008 at 03:53:25 from 75.26.165.196

Whatever ya are some stupid asses who don’t even understand Dream’s Rules. There are clearly no elbows to the head (and you can’t attack the neck in any sport). If anyone did lose tonight, it would be JZ for an illegal blow, but Dream decided that it was only an accident so they made it a no contest. Aoki will definitely not be the same fighter after this attack on the neck. The match could have swung any way because it was too soon in the fight and nothing really happened yet. So do your research first UFC lovers and rednecks.

S Says, in 3-16-2008 at 05:07:26 from 76.173.134.166

You are all fucking morons. he could not continue to fight because he either broke his collar bone or separated his shoulder. He wasn’t hit in the back of the neck at all. If it was a neck injury he would not be wearing a shoulder sling. Don’t any of you pay attention??!!
Furthermore if any of you have ever had a separated shoulder or broken collar bone you would know that there is no way to continue to fight after that, his right arm was basically useless. Don’t give me that crap about “oh he was bringing up his arm to hold the back of his head” If you pay attention you see that he brings his arm up from his elbow when he does that and doesn’t lift his shoulder. Before you people comment on things know what you are talking about first so you don’t sound so stupid.

Animahngo Says, in 3-16-2008 at 08:06:13 from 66.31.199.245

Of course it is illegal J. If it were legal, there would be far more deaths in professional MMA than the current zero. It’s a sensitive spot. Exposed spine, and not much muscle protecting it.

The first one hit him in the shoulder blade the second one clearly hit him directly in the side of the neck. the third one slid across the back of the neck.

anone wanna let that dude all adrenalined up crush your neck?

mmad1 Says, in 3-16-2008 at 16:19:03 from 24.127.43.221

Yeah, I definately saw the elbow; it looked like it glanced off his neck and hit. It’s a very fragile spot, and dangerous at that. If it DID hit, I think it’d be foolish to resume the fight.

Animahngo don’t tell me i don’t know mma i’m a fighter you just sound like an ass for talk shit when you have never been kick in the head or elbowed in the back of the head both hurt but a kick can generate a hell of a lot more energy then a elbow

Man… that’s some nasty elbows. Are they legal?? They didn’t land on the head, but those are solid blows to the back shoulders and neck.

I dont understand Japanese. Is this a DQ or no contest?

mygif
JAB Says, in 3-16-2008 at 17:40:49 from 99.226.129.17

similarly, Frank Shamrock delivered a knee to Gracie in their fight, he was numbed from the strike, its illegal for a reason. my theory is during even the GSP vs. Serra fight,GSP got hit in the same spot, if it were a regular punch to the jaw, i dont think it woulv rocked him, but if u analyze the fight, i think it happened. its a very sensitive area, and its really obvious that he felt the numbness cuz he almost went limp. anyone calling him a pussy for feeling the natural effects is an idiot.

Mike Says, in 3-17-2008 at 00:16:25 from 24.90.214.166

You can see he gets one of the elbows in the side or back of the neck, the impact probably just made the discs in his spine pinch on the nerve or something like that, it was probably a sharp pain that scarred him into calling for the ref, i understand i mean common your in a fight and its your profession you gotta protect the merchandise

More force. yes.
More damage. Absolutely not.

Force concentrated over a smaller area. e.g a needle can pierce skin far easier than a pool cue. = Increased damage

You dont have to hit someone hard to hurt them if you hit them in the back of the head. Do you think if the reff told Aoki if he didnt continue he would forfeit the match Aoki would have gotten up and continued?
