@portuga, you obviously know your stuff that is why I am still writing back and forth with you. We just differ in opionion. Do you train GBJJ or are you from some other school? In GBJJ our instructors are always in close communication with Gracie Academies. The only real difference is that the Gracie Academies focus a little more on self defense and the Gracie Barra is more focused on sports. So I really dont understand why you think they are different families. I cant wait to see the outcome of this match, and if the gracie familiy wins, I hope you can atleast write me a little message saying what you have learned. Same goes for me.

These rules only benifit the old school gracie style.name one gracie that has won a mojor bjj title in the last ten years because i cant think of one..the game has changed and the old school gracie style is not what it use to be.oh and roger doesnt count..sorry..my point is that the top guys in the sport of bjj are not gracies. im sorry but its a fact.kron has come close a couple of times but the gold medal has yet to make it around his neck.at this point he is the gracie familys best chance of winning a world title.renner, ryron dont even compete that much which is fine but alot people think that this gracie guy has this fight with galvao on lock, and i dont think so at all..galvao at the moment is one of the most dominate sport jits guys out there, and will more than likely destroy ryron.plus the guy is got 5 or 6 world titles of his own.not including ADCC.galvao is all too aware of ryron’s stratagy, and will not be sucked into some long drawn out affair where ryron will hold on to him and try to wear him down, then submit him.the gracies have been using this method to win jiu-jitsu fights for years.that s*** wont fly in IBJJF tounys and thats why non them will compete.not hating on the gracies but its the truth as i see.ive been on the mats myself for ten years now, and my instructor is a royler blackbelt, but im still objective and look at the situation with unbiased eyes.galvoa will smash this guy, and it wont take min 20min to do it.ryron will pull gaurd, galvoa will pass, and then he will submit ryron.its just that simple.in top level bjj comp the gracies are playin catch up IMO.but we’ll see what happens..

I haven’t seen Galvao train, I have seen only his tournament footage. But I have been train with people that are close to the gracie family and word is out that he is going to take this one for the gracie family. If you train Gracie Barra you will always be on their side we fight as a family.

I agree with portuga, ryon actually has a very “old school” style, but he’s so smooth. In a regular jiu jitsu match, I’d say Galvao has it, he’s a strong guy with a lot of skill, but in 20 minutes with no points…Idk if he has Rener’s cardio (I mean seriously, have you ever tried to run up a steep sand dune like that before? and with someone on your back? holy s***). it’ll be very interesting to anyone who likes grappling, but i’m giving it to Galvao.

No disrespect, but Rgood, you dont have a clue… What lab is that?! You do understand that Atos (and that is Galvão’s team) has been responsible for the biggest game changes in BJJ in recent years? Leg drags, Berimbolo, 50-50, all came from Atos. What has Ryron showed in the last.. wait, since ever!?
