why would you take a gracie to the ground…idk that seems like a bad game plan to me, not saying the gracies have the best ground game out there or anything it just seems pretty obvious that thats their game plan from the start so why would you play to it? feel free to give me an answer because im curious.
Fuck yeah for Royler! That was an emotional win, I think he has the most heart of all the Gracies. Kudos for posting
Love it! Gracie kept that choke hold as he raised his hands in victory… great technique!
I agree I don’t know why he wanted to take a Gracie down on the ground. Even there wives don’t want to be on top of a Gracie. I don’t know what to say about Gracie. The ground game should be well established by all Gracie. I wouldn’t want to fight a Gracie. That’s why he deserved to win. ………….. oh yeah………….Gracie
DAMN! every Gracie I see seems to be just as good on the ground.. Royler kept at the choke even after getting dumped on his head.
Wow what a idiot , instead of pulling out of the triangle before it could fully be applied he went down on it…….
gracies rule
there will never be another family as good as them in mma ever
why wont rickson make a comeback, even at 49 or what ever age he is he wud still have anyone on the planet
How inevitable was that, you just knew coming out for that 2nd round that he was going to get triangled. As for why he took Gracie down, Gracie was working him over in the standup so he really had no choice
Okami,
I agree -what an idiot not being able to sense the closing triangle. He deserved to lose.
I know the Gracies are a really revered family in MMA, and with good reason, but you do realize that jiu jitsu is a Japanese Martial art, and that if I remember correctly, Brazilian jiu jitsu is derived from a form of judo.
I think most Japanese fighters come from an amateur wrestling/grappling background and it’s a good bet that most are at least fairly well versed in submissions. Essentially, the ground was probably where Miyata was most comfortable as well.
human boa constrictor…a Gracie for sure.
bobinho — if Rickson was/is so great, why didn’t he ever fight any good fighters so he could prove it? All he ever did was duck anybody who wasn’t a pushover (or washed up) so that he could keep his perfect record.
Rickson would get schooled by most top tier athletes nowadays.
But great win by Royler, him and Renzo are my favourite gracies.
