That said, King Mo is a second rate fighter. He was trying to pull an Anderson Silva with his hands low. He would get his a** kicked by any good UFC fighter.

Yes, bad strategy for sure. Isn’t the Gracie BJJ main principal to not stand and trade but to close the gap to negate a better striker or stronger opponent? He should have pressure Mo for the clinch or kept him up against the cage. Reach doesn’t help if you’re not a great striker…Stick to your strengths.

Clearly Mo was getting his timing and range down in the early part of that fight. After being off for so long i don’t blame him. If you noticed as soon as there was 30 seconds left he switched gears and proceeded to light up Roger in quick fashion.
Stop hatin. No doubt Mo was happy because the fight turned out like he planed. Also, what opportunity did Roger have to take Mo down??? You all forget that Mo is a world class wrestler and this makes him very difficult to take down so what were you guys expecting?
As I said before: I love Roger and BJJ in general but a world class wrestler with good sub defense can beat a world class BBJ fighter 9 times out of 10. That’s just modern MMA.

Is this really a surprise? I saw this as a first round ko for Mo when the fight was signed. His striking is way better along with his strength. Even if Roger got the fight to the ground, I don’t believe it would have been a slam-dunk sub. Roger is in MMA for the money, not because he loves the sport and the contact. King Mo on the other hand, is a blue-collar MMA guy. I’ll take an MMA guy who likes to strike with a wrestling base any day over a BJJ champion who doesn’t really love MMA.

Good job King MO!! Gracie coulda woulda shoulda but didnt. Gracie was confident in his standup skills and got schooled. Mo took a lesson from the Spider he felt him out then took him out. If Mo moves to the UFC he might not be in the top 5 but he is a solid top 10 fighter and he is improving. He has the skills to pay the bills. Go King MO!!

Just like chess, you pick the wrong opening or if you wait too long before opening up your strong pieces, you might never get the opportunity, and if you do, it might be too late.
In Roger’s case, maybe he thought of catching Mo with that arm down, to teach him not to do stuff like that.
Who knows…
Not much punches were landed on Mo’s side, so I think Gracie didn’t had time to feel the need to close that gap, no pain, let’s play a little more.

But either that fisrt punch of the combo on the back of the head started to phase him, (it did not seem powerful, at the end of his reach), or that headbutt may have hurt him. Gracie seemed hurt and started to bring his guard down before the power shot to the side of the head.
Muay Thai or Boxing drills at the camp might help?

There was no way that slight headbutt had any significant effect in the KO, as is obvious if you look at Gracie’s motion/reaction immediately after. He only slightly moved backward, but as soon as King Mo landed that right, he was floored. What a bunch of haters on here, some people just can’t be objective.
