Wow, that was beautiful execution. Nice try by Yundt, I thought he might have gotten free when he dropped him on his neck, but that really was a nice BJJ display.

Beautiful example of clean, black-belt Jujitsu.
And there was me thinking Almeida might be a bit rusty after all that time out!

That was a bad ass fight. Ricardo Almeida is for real. Watch out UFC combatants.

That was an impressive display by Almeida, but let’s not get carried away. He beat a B-level fighter fighting on short notice with virtually no jiu jitsu game. A truer test for Almeida will be another ground ace and/or a good striker (i.e. Marquardt). Almeida is going to be tough against anyone, but Yundt isn’t even close to his level.

Have a ?.. Why does everyone thank pride was such a great org. I read over and over how it so much better than the ufc. If it WAS so much better why did the UFC buy it then.Pride Did have great fights/fighters.Thats the past the Ufcs the current and future of MMA. M1 is still to new. plus i heard that former pride guys are running the show. We all know how that worked out for them lol. Also a settlement on how many pride champions there are in the UFC. NONE every single on is a ufc camp. It dont matter where the USED to fight… By the way this is coming from a FORMER PRIDE FAN

Pride went Belly-up because apparently of YAKUZA involvement. So it lost it’s credibility, kind of like what will happen to the UFC in the future… you can’t do shit in vegas without the mob.

Umm.. so Minotaur.. Antonio Nogueria, is now the current heavy weight champ in UFC, and was in Pride before losing to Fedor.. so how are no Pride Champs UFc champs?

ell striko what the hell are you talking about??????? pride fighters own the ufc middleweight, light heavy, and heavyweight belts… houstoun alexander got owned by a pride fighter, so did gabriel gonzaga…there are still a lot of them left to come over, but we won’t see fedor or gomi… i think a lot of the pride fighters have more talent than the cage fighters, but the cage is alomost a whole different sport…ie when wandi dropped chuck with that punch, in pride chuck would have gotten his head soccer kicked off..end of night.

Nice finish. Anyone who KNOWS MMA understands that Almeida’s finish was a page out of Ben Saunders book….Obviously.

Piped!

My point is there is NO cross prom. they all are under cont to the UFC.Pride had really Great People fighting, now most of them are in the ufc.when its all said and done i think the pride v ufc win/lose tally will slightly favor the ufc, Because of the cage. If pride had bought the ufc it would be reversed.Didnt wandy Fight in the ufc BEFORE he did in pride. So doesnt that make him a ufc guy that came home.

Oh my Bad, I forgot Quinten Jackson knocked Liddell out in like… under 2 minutes and won the Light heavyweight belt.. so that makes 2 pride fighters who have claimed UFC belts.. Just saying. Ellstriko… check your stats man, you dead wrong.

prof. almeida already beat marquardt with the same submission

Yea…Almeida didn’t have any ‘rust’ because he hasn’t stopped fighting/training. He trains like an animal everyday of the week, and has more commitment to the sport than most people realize. Almeida was King of Pancrase and is still very young….he walked away just when he peaked. It takes a bigger man to make that kind of life decision! His life is where he wants it now and he is back! The upcoming fights will get interesting, I think? His bjj is world class…check his stats! And his striking is hardly ever used, but it is there! Props to Yundt for taking the fight and even being aggressive in the ring! Welcome back Big Dog!

He beat Marquardt four years ago. It’s apples and oranges. Matt Hughes submitted GSP in their first fight and got manhandled in their subsequent fights. I’m not saying Almeida can’t or won’t beat Marquardt, but the “he already beat him” arguments are almost always baseless. I’d like to see Almeida against Lutter if Lutter should happen to lose to Franklin.
