yeah but mma is getting there too. it’s a sad trend that combat sports follow when they become more “professional”, mainstream or whatever. When basically the numerical representation of your “record” becomes more important than the fashion in which you won and the actual record (yeah like the video camera recording) of your fight.

boxing CAN be good but the ref has too much influence–especially in the lighter classes. Rob is full of schit and like so many soft guys like him, pretends he’s an expert by saying stuff like this. Hollywood has made these sarcastic wannabees look legit but they know who they are when they look at themselves.

Any enthusiast of mma has to have at one point been a boxing fan. I remember as a kid watching great fights such as Barrera vs morales. Those were brutal fights and respecting the determination of both men. I can agree with rob on this.

I’ve never been a boxing fan, and I follow MMA very closely. Rob doesn’t get Jiu-Jitsu which is common. I find it boring to see MMA matches of just striking with hands. I like the array of attacks, and watching the many styles of fighting.

Iron_cobra: False. To me boxing has always been a great idea with terrible execution. I really don’t have 90 minutes to watch what is essentially, a draw. Take the gloves back down to a reasonable weight, and someone might get KOed. That would be worth watching. As it is, you have two 125 pound latinos throwing some one pound gloves at the other latino’s one pound gloves indefinatly. Those monstrosities are so big, that in the lighter classes one glove covers 85% of your face and body.

Everything he said he liked about boxing can be applied to MMA if you have half a brain.Rob needs to see his favorite boxing champion get choked,tossed around and dominated by a smaller purple belt who doesn’t have the quarter of the training time the boxing champ does.Then maybe he will appreciate MMA and grappling.Or maybe he will say Derp Derpy Derp ground game is gay Derp Derpedy Derp Dep.

The fact of the matter is that when boxing first started out-it included grappling-dirty boxing- elbows-and no gloves-over time the fans wanted the cleaner stand up portion, so it became what it is today-I can’t believe that I have never read the true history of boxing from any of the major MMA websites-Basically, boxing started out a lot like vale tudo

Rob is the type of MMA fan that will only watch a KO, if he thinks boxing is romantic than wait till he realizes the skills a ground game takes. Im ok with that but I think people like this need to realized MMA fighters use boxing + other skills, so what is so exciting about watching a guy get punched stupid for a whole night?

Everyone is entitled to what they like better which is fine. Either MMA or Boxing, but when he tells you he doesn’t understand the ground game, that goes for majority of the new fans or boxing fans that watch MMA. They don’t understand it. That’s why it so important to keep Rogan’s commentating to explain each step on the ground.
