I’m not a big fan of bare knuckles… Its too easy to get an open cut, the better fighter can lose his advantage. I can’t believe they couldn’t find a commentator who knew even a little bit about fighting. Come on, “he’s hitting him”?

MMA gloves are only 4 oz.’s, just enough to protect your hand from breaking. The glove makes your whole fist one surface instead of 4 knuckles where energy gets dispersed unevenly. You actually can hit a lot harder with gloves. It looks cooler without them… that’s about it. You can tell the guy wasn’t hitting full force when he was in the other guys guard.

You can’t compare a bare knuckles punch with a gloved one. If you think you’d rather get punched with bare hands than with gloves you’re mistaken. The damage done is vastly superior and it is not limited to cuts. The pressure point of the knuckles increase the chance of facial bone fracture.

Gloves stop serious injuries from happening (both to the puncher and the “victim”)and that is why they are used. This is dangerous but it is also the traditional Vale Tudo way in Brazil.

I like some of the old skool mma techniques here such as the elbows to the spine, modern mma rules need to be adjusted I fucking hate “lay and pray” or those ass jockeys who prance around the fucking ring or octagon to avoid fighting.
