This bout is from the finals of the women’s bantamweight tournament at Pancrase – Progress Tour 14, Japanese fighter, Rin Nakai (13-0-1) took on Danielle West (4-5) in a rematch of last year’s bout which ended in a split draw. The bout took place on Dec / 1 / 2012.
West missed weight a day earlier by a Kilo, and instead of deducting a percentage of the purse or cancelling the fight altogether, West was not allowed to use chokes or knees on Nakai.

Terrible fight. One fighter too afraid to engage and another who ran away for a majority of the fight. One throws an illegal knee without penalty. The jabbing from halfway across the ring was funny. I would have given the win to the black-haired woman because she was pushing the pace, stopped the TD during the end, and made weight.

Good ol’ pancrase. I love it, but that’s a ridiculous stipulation for missing weight by a kilo. That’s only 2.1 lbs. C’mon guys.
West came in 1kg overweight and wasn’t allowed to use knees or attempt submissions. These rules were not made clear to West as she thought the rules applied to both fighters. Also, if West did even happen to win by tko(lol at a possible decision win) the fight would be ruled a draw or no contest. This management handled the situation horribly and is now pretty exposed for setting up their fighter to win aka fixing their fights. Poor West was put in a situation she couldn’t win and was beat up in the process.

As seen in 18:16, West had no clue or forgot that she was penalized. So lame. Can’t use chokes or knees against a wrestler and should she KO Nakai the fight is ruled a draw. Fighting for a paycheck I suppose. Dumb as hell, Pancrase.

as people mentioned above, West was told she couldn’t use submissions or knees. Rin was not told the same thing. This fight was a farce and a result of pancrase officials overstepping their bounds. Feel bad for both fighters. West stated she’ll be leaving the sport because of this.

It was a tactical fight. Rin bided her time knowing that she could win with her superior wrestling skills. She controlled the ground for the first 2 rounds which was enough. Danielle barely landed a clean shot in the whole fight. This fight would have been the same without the rule changes which made no real difference apart from one fairly harmless knee from Rin. Rin needs to move up in class. Only then will we find out how good she is.
She is on the practice squad playing safety for the Jets. Hate when women roid up and think its hot esp azn ones.. this was a circus fight the man on stilts vs the strong man
