Great fight! Good decision as well.

I am not sure about the result. IMHO it was a draw. However, Silva did get completely exhausted too early in the fight.

You can see clearly Anderson’s hand in Franklin’s style, but I’m not sure if it made much of a difference.

Wanderley is getting old too fast, he needs to work more on his cardio. He would have won if he could keep the pressure after he rocked Franklin.

Tough decision for Silva. I’d have been mad about all the judges scoring for Franklin. There’s a good case that he won that fight. He wasn’t robbed – it was just that close…

Silva just hasn’t been the same guy for the past few years.

It really pains me to see him fight now. The desire is there, the strength and conditioning is there, but he has lost his ability to put his fight together. He has a hard time bringing the dynamic fighting style together where he attacks relentlessly with kicks, punches and knees non stop. The pressure fighter that just overwhelms the competition is gone. When was the last time anyone has seen Silva hurt a fighter and not put him away?

I’m starting to see him in the same light I saw Muhammad Ali when we just kept fighting when he should have stopped.

I no longer have any hope that Wandy can bring it. I hope he retires because I don’t want him to continue to tarnish his outstanding career, I have too much respect for him. As good a fighter as Franklin is, he isn’t in the same league as Wandy and he straight up beat him, that’s when it’s time to go.

If you go by the 10 point must system it was a draw, R1-10-9 Franlin, R2-10-9 Silva and R3-10-10 draw. If you go by normal judging Silva won, did more damage and almost had Franklin KO’ed.

Lets not forget that this is a lighter weight for Silva. Franklin wasnt all that different. He feinted more but nothing spectacular. It was a decent fight but went to the judges cards and you know how that goes

I dont think it was Wands cardio, it was the cut. Wand has super cardio he’s just not as used to it as the UFC dudes who have been doing it for years, especially Rich. Good fight. I wish there were more draws in MMA.

Wandy got hosed hard on this fight, these European judges suck dick, everytime Dana has his events over seas this bull shit happens, Ace is nothing, he isnt gunna be able to compete with anyone at 205, this is unfortunate too cus this probly means we will never get to see Anderson and Wandy tangle in the cage like everyone was expecting, other then 2 take downs and some grazing punches that barely landed and cut Wandys scar tissued face…Franklin didnt do shit in that fight, did Anderson tell him just take him down and lay on him knowing the judges are always against Wandy, reason he likes to finish fights so there is no dispute, tough loss for Wandy i feel bad for him and im afraid were all finished seeing Wandy be competitive, he looked good at 195 but his body wasnt all there, when he needed that extra gulp of gas, it just isnt there for him anymore, and think this guy used to fight 3-5 fights every tournament in Japan and win hands down…who knows whats next for Wandy..

what the hell was so great about this fight? Wand is a shell of himself; had this been the Silva of yesteryear? we all know what would of happened.
Having Rafael Cordeiro in his corner is just an attempt to get back to his roots; but unfortunately that fire died when he chose to relocate to the U.S.
The purchase of PrideFC and the subsequent migration for some fighters spelled doom to many of the tight knit camps and relationships forged through time and nationality(ChuteBoxe,BTT) Unfortunately for Wanderlei that same work ethic, hunger & desire he had when still in his native Brazil and fighting for PrideFC, along with the wear & tear through the years; just hasn’t and probably won’t be duplicated here Stateside.

I think it should have been a draw…rich controlled most of the fight but never really hurt badly Wandy cuz Wandy was just running outta gaz. But Wandy did hurt Rich and took him down etc…

I think Wandy should’ve got the nod because he did more damage IMO. A lot of people seem to be giving him s*** about his cardio but I think the weight cut, his first, proved to be hard for him..he had to cut 12 pounds the day of the weigh ins…thats crazy. And Franklin broke his nose in the first I believe, so his breathing got interrupted, thus gassing him a lot earlier than expected..still a good fight tho

Franklin won fair and square. Wandy isn’t a god he is only a man and shouldn’t be disappointed as he lost to the former moddleweight champ of the world.

@ #1stunna. I watched this fight thinking wand was gonna get knocked out! he didnt. he was covering up and moving his head and everyone knows he won that fight. rich never had him hurt where as rich could have been knocked out a couple of times. rocking a fighter > taking a fighter down. anyday

Jack may be right. Franklin said he thought he broke Silva’s nose. That would affect the whole fight. I still think Wandy deserves a rematch.

I agree that Wandy fought well, but my point earlier is that three years ago Franklin gets destroyed by Wandy. The fact that he lost a close decision doesn’t mean anything to me, he just isn’t the same guy and it hurts to see him lose fight after fight.

As for Mag’s comment earlier on Wandy’s cardio, I really don’t understand it. Mag what have the UFC fighters been doing that the ex-Pride fighters weren’t doing? Pride had 10 minute opening rounds, I don’t know about you but that is hell compared to doing a 5 minute round. As a result Pride fighters cardio had to be exceptional as it was required just to survive the first round.

Anyhow I absolutely love Silva and it just bugs me to see that at 33 years old he’s unable to bring his whole game. It was already evident his last few fights in Pride as he was becoming more and more one dimensional, and in this fight there were times he looked like he was taking a defensive posture, it’s just stuff you never saw before.

Regardless of what Wandy choses, I will always root for him and I wish him the best.

Wanderlei’s cardio is what caust him this fight, its the biggest chink in his armor at the moment.

i was there and saw the fight live…. it was a war!!! wandy is a legend in this sport and all the fans in germany loves him. he has to cut weigh and go down to midleweigh…. and maybe fight against anderson silva!?

it was a dificult decision, but the judges make the right choice. wandy has made the hard punches, but franklin landed more punches. that´s wandys style….win with a k.o. or loose in points/k.o.!

this was a fight for war-mma, not for the technique in this sport….but i love it!

i think it’s pretty clear that wandy is past his prime, but good god…he obviously won this fight. i mean come on he was pumping up the crowd with his arms and beating rich’s ass at the same time. the scoring system in the ufc is so fucked they need to change it…great fight non the less but wandy got robbed.

Back in the boxing days I used to say: It’s not how hard they hit, it’s how often they hit that wins the boxing match. Two stand-up fighters in a MMA match = boxing. Franklin landed more punches = win!

Silva looked tired but how did Rich get UD? cause of that takedown? that was not a slam btw. The 3rd round was clearly Silva’s, I agree that the judging in UFC is all over the place. SAD.

wand wasn’t rocked he loses his balance when he throws those giant haymakers. i never saw wand get significantly hurt in this fight except for his nose being broken thereby hurting his cardio but there is no way you can tell me rich won dat fight. i saw that fight with my own two eyes!!

I hate the outcome of this fight. He did lose/tie if you use the 10 point scoring system, but he did do the most damage, besides a few kicks Franklin really didn’t do much (besides getting rocked by Wanderlei). I also hate that people are saying Wanderlei should hang it up, because that’s just not true. Wanderlei has AMAZING cardio, but gassed because of a combination of things like a possibly broken nose and a HUGE weight cut that he’s not used to having to make. Wanderlei isn’t a “shell” of himself. You guys have to understand that on his 20 fight unbeaten streak in PrideFC he was allowed to use head stomps/soccer kicks, which ended/helped end a lot of his fights. This was probably his best weapon besides his knees/fists. I mean think about his fight against Liddell. He knocked him down and then what? In PrideFC he stomps a Mudhole through Chuck Liddell’s head and walks out of the second round the winner, but in UFC he had to try and use hammerfists which aren’t anywhere near as affective. Same goes here, If he was more accustomed to the weight cut and he didn’t have a broken nose he knocks Franklin to the floor and stomps his head flat into the mat. Wanderlei still has what it takes to dominate, sadly though his last few fights he’s lost in disappointing fasion (especially the decisions to Liddell/Franklin) Don’t hang up the gloves Wanderlei you’ve still got a lot of fighting left to do in MMA.
