sweet armbar escape, but no killer instinct, silva would have never let lutter back up like rich did several times. even if franklin got another shot at silva, and rich was somehow miraculously winning, all silva would have to do is lay on his back to recover. Franklin has no ground and pound, and if i see it, silva sees it. Franklin has no chance to ever beat silva.

Actually, that armbar escape wasn’t exactly anything special. If you look again you can see Lutter’s right leg goes under the left. Ya, that secures the arm but guess what it doesn’t prevent the person from turning into you (unlike when the leg is across the body or the foot is placed under the rib). Should have kept pounding from mount. Anyways, nice job from Franklin.

I think you need to watch more of Franklin’s previous fights. His ground and pound is nasty, he just prefers to stand. Seriously, watch his fights with Tanner and Loiseau, absolutely beat those guys down with strike from dominant positions.

Silva v Franklin 3 will never happen, and why should it? GOt destroyed twice there is nothing he can do to earn another title shot in my opinion. Besides when he was asked about a silva rematch after the fight, he pretty much shit himself haha, I dont think any amount of money would get him back in with Silva. I don’t like Rich Franklin I think hes one of the overrated fighters in the business. A silva rematch would just have time for me to waste saying I told you so. Silva is on the top of the mountain, and the only person that can screw that up is himself. GSP only trained for four years (not including his tae kwon do) for MMA. Lutter talked to much stuff, didnt prep anywhere near what u need to for the caliber Rich Franklin is. Lutter thought if silva owned him so bad i could to, probably thinks hes on same lvl as silva which is off, silva mass trains every fight, improves every fight in ALL aspects. Rich pulled a nice arm bar escape but we all know that was more desprate then skill. He needs to be stuck in a muay thai camp for a couple months and learn some killer striking not some casual boxing… he needs to learn all 6 limbs better and how to dominate ppl with them rather then control, and well see a Rich that might give silva a run for his money.

Lutter’s arm bar was not complete that’s why Rich got out of it. Before you guys call me an idiot watch the video again. Lutter should have had his right leg across Rich’s chest and his left across his face or head. Instead his right leg which should have been across Rich’s chest to prevent him from backfliping was locked in a figure 4 under his left leg. Okay that might have sounded too technical. Just watch the video again, his right leg should have been across Rich’s chest for a complete arm bar.

The armbar escape was amazing. He escaped under both legs, it is harder to do that rather then under 1 leg over the head. Franklin completely outclassed Lutter. Franklin is 2nd best to Anderson Silva in the Middleweight Division. It shows the talent of Silva, if he can manhandle Franklin the way he did twice.

There are some fighters that are really talented and work hard to become as good as possible (Franklin) and then there are fighters that are just phenoms, and very few people will ever beat them (Silva). Unfortunately for Franklin his style and Silva’s don’t match up well (Franklin’s own words) and Silva is just better at the striking and Muay Thai fighting.

Lutter has cross threaded his head onto his neck and needs to remove it and screw it on straight. You don’t fight someone like Franklin without good cardio, the fight was over once Franklin escaped the arm bar. Franklin was too generous allowing Lutter to get to his feet several times, or perhaps that was his finishing strategy, to take the fatigued opponent out with strikes. Good job Rich, and as an earlier contributor suggested, you should fight either Bisping or Rashad Evans. That would be fun to watch!
