hamill did amazing i thought! that was no sissy kick that ended the fight… would have knocked any of your asses out.

any way… hamills boxing was great 2. only problem was franklins was better. franklins a more seasoned fighter.. more experiance and confidence. franklin winning was no suprise.

Expect to see hamill moving up… maybe even holding a belt some day.

didn’t look like the kick landed as hard as Hamill made it look? please tell me you’re kidding. that shot was rock solid and rocked him. Sure, it didn’t break a rib or anything, but I’m sure it knocked the wind out of him and he probably couldn’t even breathe. I’m not a Hamill fan, but he’s a tough kid and I doubt he would ever just give up unless he really couldn’t continue. Remember when he was on TUF? He wanted to fight in the semi-finals even though he couldn’t move one of his arms. He was just out classed by a more experienced and skilled Franklin.

yeah that guy did say Franklin looks like Jim Carrey, as a matter of fact that’s why they call him “ACE” becuz of his resemblence to Jim Carrey

Exactly as expected. Hammill Couldn’t get him down and couldn’t keep him down when he got him down once. Hammill is over rated big time.

Top tier fighters don’t let him do the “hey look im gonna hold the back of your head and throw short upper cuts to your face” thing. Doesn’t really work.

I have a feeling we’ll be hearing about a preexisting injury or something in the next couple of days. I find it hard to believe this was just a poor game plan. Hamill kept going for these lame single leg (single ankle) takedowns. What’s up with that? He wasn’t even attacking the hips. It doesn’t take a world class wrestler to know that you can’t take somebody down by grabbing a single knee, especially someone with that kind of balance. Yes, Franklin has great takedown defense, but he never really used it. How many times did you see a sprawl or a real clinch? When a wrestler of that caliber is attached to you the way Hamill was a couple of times in R1, you’re going exactly where he wants you to go. For some reason, he didn’t want it to go to the ground. I don’t have a hypothesis, but this fight was very uncharacteristic of Matt Hamill.

I felt sorry for Hamil but Rich is a great fighter. I don’t think he is passed his prime. Things just got very competitive in the UFC. Now Franklin will have to face more crazy competition. I’m talking about Lyoto Machida, Wanderlei Silva and maybe Shogun. Hey guys, What happened to Mauricio Shogun Rua? Is he going to fight in the UFC again? Do you guys know if he is rehabilitated? He fought Forrest with his knee destroyed.

Hamill looked horrible. He was gassing in the middle of round 2. I thought he was an animal and able to take down anyone before this.

KieranMac — see above comments. That was a nicely-landed liver shot. If you hit somebody on the bottom part of their ribs on their right side, it can be pretty devastating because of the jolt to the liver. See the end of De la Hoya vs. Hopkins for a good example of that.
